    Alaska Gary here. I could not be happier with this belt. The English point is perfect. The pattern is by far better than I expected, and the flag for pushes the belt to the next level. I am glad you left the belt so I can oil it because I can guarantee it will be wet I intend to wear-this belt for a long time. Thank you Robert for not only the belt but also for the knowledge that you have shared with us.

      Thanks! Share some pictures once you have put a couple years on it so we can see how it ages.

      It’s been handy. I have one in both shops. You could put a strip of paper on the wall as there are some accidental marks on the wall from dye. I also place a cut out 12x18 of cardboard on the floor to catch drips.

    That's a fine looking belt and really good quality. Just personal preference here but I prefer the look of a fat 1/4" width knife cut and beveled border with the stitch line in the middle of that. And because it's so long I get by with a push beveler. I like your high quality tool choices too, they're really worth it.

      Thanks. I tend to change where the stitch line is based on the design and belt size some. I will probably get the next smaller double axe for give a bit more room on the edge for stitches.

    Enjoyed watching you sew!! I sew everything by hand. Doubt ill ever afford machine. That double axe stamp, really looks great on that belt!! Ive never sewn a double layer belt.. so far.. I've made many belts, but i use heavy skirt / bridle sides-- 12 to 14 oz.. heavy duty belts for the outdoorsman!! I ordered the mini strap cutter, while back. Dont care for plastic handles/ tools, but man it is great for belt keeper, straps and narrower belts!! Blade easily sharpened.. Buckle Guy sells the cutter.. enjoyed the vid!! We talked about stamps, while ago.. believe im gonna try the brass, Sergio double axe stamp your stamping on this belt really looked great!! Was it a Barry King stamp?? Thanks for vid, and your time!!

    Hi Robert, excellent video showing the entire process of how you make belts. I have two questions, other than selling your belts at craft shows, do you advertise in any way? How much would you price the belt you have just made? Thanks...

    • @InMyBusyLittleShop
      @InMyBusyLittleShop  52 минуты назад +1

      I only sell a few belts, mostly word of mouth from previous customers outside of my shows. Occasionally someone will reach out from seeing a video and ask about a belt. That is a $160 belt for me. You have to keep in mind that it’s a hobby business for me. Probably should be more than $200 if running a business with overhead and all.

      Thanks. I appreciate the support. That is the double axe head stamp from Barry King. The size is #2. I’m thinking that #1 size might fit a bit easier and leave a bit more room for stitching. The #1 is about 1/16” narrower on each pass. I will have to check it out when I’m in Prescott next month at the trade show

      Thanks, I visit Barry's store every year when I'm in Sheridan visiting family. I hope to catch up to you sometime and meet you. I appreciate your approach to teaching leather working.

      Thanks, I hope the video answered a few questions. I want to get to the Sheridan show. Maybe this year. I will not know for a bit yet. May is a tough month to get places because of other commitments. If you ever see me stop me and say hi.

    Did you moisten the belt after gluing before stamping?

    • @InMyBusyLittleShop
      @InMyBusyLittleShop  Час назад +1

      I did lightly case the leather. I ran a sponge over it, letting it sit for about 5 minutes before starting and again a couple times during the process. Great question
