Honestly … I bought a new 2022 grizzly and my buddy picked up a 2015 xr 700 with 550km’s . His machine has performed beside mine thru every bit of trial and we ride very hard. I have bent a tie rod and his machine has just motored on. One time it shut off due to water in electrical but after sitting for 15 minutes started right back up and hasn’t happened since … beast of a machine from arctic cat. And I love how it feels.
I just bought myself, the 2021 arctic cat alterra 700. I cant wait! i got the 2017 arctic cat alterra 400 with 4900+ miles and the gauge doesnt work accurately any more so it has more miles then that it started freezing at about 4960+ miles
I don't know if +Dirt Trax Television had just forgot how the previous chassis handled or what, not that the previous chassis was horrible. Because the handling and trail demeanor of the new chassis is just EPIC compared to the past. They didn't seem to be as impressed as I was when riding the new XR/Alterra for the first time. I have more than a few thousand miles of riding the previous chassis. It's better in every aspect from ergonomics, foot positioning, bump compliance, and cornering. Still another great video!
I have the 700 limited edition. Very Happy with this machine. have a new set of sunf tires coming for it. putting 27 inch on it
The 700 single is ok but Arctic Cat has a 700 twin used in their utvs. If they had put that in this machine, it would have upped the performance dramatically. It would go from a solid trail machine to a serious performance 4x4 utility quad. Put that 63 hp(approx) 700 twin in there with the 10" of suspension travel and you would have a very sporty 4x4 machine. It would outshine the Grizzly 700, Brute Force, and King Quad 750. Only the 850 and 1000cc machines would outperform it and not by much. That engine could have made it one of the best 4x4 utility quads ever.
I don't know if it would out perform a brute 750.. defiantly the big singles but brutes are torque monsters, even can am 650 is 62HP
not a brute force. brutes are fast. only utility forwheeler thats faster than a bruteforce is my 07 can am outlander 800 (05-07 outlanders for that matter)

Got to ride an XR550 at my local dealership. It feels and looks like a real quality machine. It is expensive compared to others in the same class.
I was a Polaris guy until I got an 01 cat 300 4x4 5 speed. That quad was an absolute tank. Blew up at just over 27k miles (all original drivetrain minus cv shafts) I’ve always been a cat guy since. Never put any money into that 300 it just kept chugging along. I currently have an 04 400 4x4 auto and it’s been good so far. Only has 3000 miles but I’m lookin at the new alterra soon
Both of those use Suzuki motors though. So really you like Suzuki...lol

The last great AC was the 2004 650 V2, went backwards after that.
I had an 06 650 v2 absolutely loved that machine. Didn't care for the kawasaki belt slipping buy other then that was great.
i have the same one and its boared out with tune and clutches and ive got it to 135 km/h
I like the handling of the older ones, haha. Just put on a rear sway bar.

Quality issues in the past? I think you have Arctic Cat confused with a Polaris. I've been in the power sports industry for a while I can tell you Arctic Cat has had nowhere near the problems Polaris has has in the past 10 years. I find that most of these guys are very bias towards other brands besides Polaris. Almost like they get money under the table type bias.
I have had two AC's, 650 and 700 and 650 didnt have any problems and only problem that my 700 has had was that I was driving in deep snow and used diff lock and drove way too hard with diff lock on and it broke the fourwheel drive

You got that right, I own nothing but Cat, where I live is Honda Honda Honda and few Polaris, the Polaris break down really early, I had a neighbor that had Polaris and they never lasted a year and now he uses a Honda, all my cats are awesome! Always have big loads for heading out to camp.
this thing is like riding a couch through the trails. you can ride it surprisingly fast and it simply eats up rough terrain. really happy with mine so far. few complaints (the foot brake lever is in a terrible spot and it really could use more oomph for a 700 (and as mentioned, the tires)).
how has it been for you since then?
@@n3tslid3r it's still kicking and still comfy. It is just as fast as a 400ex from a dig (not from a roll...way too fat) for whatever that's worth. But it is huge and lumbering...you can definitely kick it around but it takes a lot more effort. Still a fantastic machine for the price. I know AC doesn't have a good rep for quality, but this one has been fine aside from the cheap spanner wrench breaking and not being able to adjust the shocks...but some of that is my fault too (not the spanner tho. f that thing).
@@drwinlied lol, my spanner broke too. Overall the best toolkit I've seen included though. I put 26" traxion grippers on it. It runs perfect still, only changed the 2 front lower shock bushings. I have implements for farming for it, haul full 12ft trailer worth of wood, go on 200km rides year round in the north. Excellent machine. Id like a little more engine power but it does lack any. I can do wheelies if I stiffen the suspension. The engine came from the partnership with Suzuki, so the reliability is there too.
I'm hoping for an XR 1000 for 2016. Guessing we will see some kind of updated 1000 class engine for the new chassis. I'm thinking if they were going to use the old H2 that we would have seen an XR 1000 in 2015.
+Josh Pierzina na no thanks i'd still buy can am or polaris! no way i'd spend serious cash on an cheap cat. rode them sorry to say i owned one but untill u get a can am v twin u just don't know.....and dirt trax tell you what they get paid to say........
How much more top end do you need? I re-clutched my 2014 700 to get better bottom end and now tops out at 60 mph. I didn't need to go 70+. Love my older Cats, new Alterra is ugly.
at least compare it side by side next to a grizzly. that seems to be the standard show what it can or cant do. otherwise it was a nice commercial for them.
I learned on a gear on gear Yammy YFM 200. Now have a big bear and an AC 400 With CVT.CVT is awesome and I prefer it. Shifting is fun tho too. U got a STEAL sir! Nice ATV.
Is 2000 hours a lot for an atv?
I got 1 of these the front axle boots gave in an cracked early some where around 1500 miles had to swap em out. Also they throw up way to much mud i dislike that. Front bumpers should come standard

What does that 'override' button do? I've never seen that before.
Barack Hussein Osama Lets say you're in reverse, you press that button and your speed in reverse is no longer limited. At least that's what it does on my Outlander 500 L

Don't ever insult the real, all American full sized all balls, unstoppable, strongest and most capable Arctic Cat ATVs. The pinnacle is obviously the 1000 thundercat, and the Mudpro's. However the 650H1 is a bulletproof tractor ATV that, legitimately tho, makes Honda look like a useless unreliable woman's wheeler(which they are)

Look at what we have now hey, nothing but Wall Street Greed destroying Arctic Cat. I'm aware how rediculous I sound with saying this but it really does bother me. I used to be a real Arctic Cat fan, hell man my entire family owns them. Initially I was happy textron coming in to help the tiny little Arctic Cat fight against their monster rivals. Here Arctic Cat fought viciously and was actually dominant for years, so textrons resources and capital could only make them the greatest available. Yet in Reality here textrons done legitimately NOTHING besides purge the company of the right people, allow city boys who don't belong lead it, and they ended most of the model line up. Absolutely nothing for exciting new developments, nothing for new models
What a joke. Now they're a bargain discount store brand. Even the cheap Chinese "knock off machines" are better in every way.

No, as good as Suzukis are. The kings stock tires are an embarrassment to the industry. Lol. I have one and tossed those into recycle right after the test ride and got zilla lights.

I love how everyone dogs arctic cat every a ATV has its flaws for Honda if you want reliability buy a Honda do you want to have fun buy anything else. for can-am frame issues the lack of rear CV boot protection and stock tires on most atv's are shit.
