It can do ID but not very good. It can take think id cards.

It is because of its sleep setting that HP has done. Try to find to change its setting by HP Smart App.

I can't get through ink cartridges out...is there a easy way to do this.

This printer is small in size and it takes effort to install ink in it. I am not sure if any other way is given by the HP
