This is a great game, and less imposing than the video implies. Thanks for coverage, but perhaps 2 vids next time? Seeing the mechanics in action would prove helpful, and multiplayer is worth separating. Keep up the excellent work!
This game will crash and burn. Bringing out a TCG when magic exists is a death sentence unless you are really something special, which this is not. If L5R couldnt survive in TCG form, no fuckin way this does.
Yugioh, cardfight vanguard and Weiss Schwartz are doing well. They don't need to obtain a large segment of the consumerbase and often players play multiple tcgs anyways.
yes and it's designed to look like Hearthstone. While they are casting a bigger net with this approach, I can't see this surviving long because games like MTG and Yugioh have cornered the market of people who can afford to money dump into these games. Force of Will is struggling and Legend of the 5 Rings died. TCGs are just not great business.
So....red and green are broken got it.Seriously its not a bad game its unique(given i played MTG, Yugioh and Pokemon) so it has staying power at least and the fact it has an app. however i don't know about accessibility, it seems easy but its going against 4 big shots now: Force of Will, MTG, Pokemon, and Yugioh. Kaijudo duel masters and chaotic were snuffed out and vanguard can't say on much of it. However the reason why i said red and green are broken just due to the fact Green has a lot of staying power (ie heals) and red is pure attack(red burns everything decks)
I am so glad you do these videos to help understand how to play the games. But this game has too much info! I was interested in this game but just hearing the amount of things to remmeber on a card and what does what makes me less interested in it.
Fear not! Whilst it may sound complex Lightseekers is designed to help you pick up and learn to play really quickly. Most players can master the basics in a game or two. The game is easy to learn but with lots of strategy and tactical possibilities to master for the experienced player.
Love what you guys normally do, and understand that sponsorship happens to keep things running, but a trading card game? Nope. Money pits, even ones with lots of accessories, are still money pits.
any board game that isn't monoply or life or sorry is a money pit dude just due to expansions. Trading card games tend to pay for themselves after a while cause when you pull a card that is worth 90 to 700 bucks(depending on the game) it usually pays for a deck or booster box.
OsamuWu42 absolutely agree; expandable board game, by their nature, are money pits. However, TCGs and CCGs hold a special spot akin to the pseudo-gambling issues currently being faced by video game loot boxes. Personally, since Fantasy Flight have released their LCG model, I feel TCGs and CCGs have become more outdated and need to die out, and it always saddens me to see new games being released following this model.
The board games are fully playable without any expansions. The thing about CCG:s are that they are pay to win, as each player have to invest money to randomly try to improve their chance of winning. And those extra money for the rare cards require that someone is prepared to pay for a card that will make them beat you every time. With a board game, if I have the game I can play with different people at different times with no issues.
If the game isn't MTG, Yu-Gi-Oh, or Pokemon then it's going to die out. Not because of the type of game it is, but because it sucks ass in comparison to what's already been on the market for 10+ years.
Depends on the board game. yes some can be played without the expansions however if you end up buying some that require the base set of the board game. And no. not always if i can beat a 600 dollar deck that has cards that cost 50 to 60 with a deck that literally cost me 60 bucks? there is no such thing as "he has this rare card thats why he won" thats a bs argument. you can do that in pokemon mtg and yugioh.
I don't understand why the game doesn't trust it's players to pick their targets or why they built in a mechanic that makes it easier to win when you're already winning? These seem like HORRIBLE design choices.
Jenny Cranston this structure reduces tendency to gang up on one individual, ensuring balance. I agree it's a bit unusual, but Lightseekers games are very fast and relentless, and require a certain flow. The multiplayer design concept is a sound one IMO.
But multiplayer formats are self-balancing based on the ability of other players to check the player in the strongest board state. With this kind of set up, if the player to my right has the strongest position, there is nothing I can do to check that besides not attacking to the left in hopes that it will encourage them to put more resources into stopping a snowball victory.
Jenny I had my first multi-player game of Lightseekers. I discovered tonight that aside from your card mentioning Target, you can attack whomever you want in the match! So thankfully, LS is not limited or holding the problems that we discussed. Hope you give it a go -- we had a really fun time. Cheers.
Becca is my favourite geek and sundry member, I love this series.

I just noticed that the editors update the number of players (in the how to play animation) when the sub count goes up!
Good mechanic. Good overview. Nice dex work, Becca!
Me: this is an easy game that even beginners can master.
This video: hold my beer

*This reminds me of Vampire: The Eternal Struggle.*
Brettbren except Lightseekers opted to leave out the cool factor of Jyhad/VtES.
*Along that subject, who is your favorite clan from VTM? Mine would be Ventrue.*
Brettbren I liked the Toreador for VtM but I always only played Ventrue combo decks in VtES.
I'm greatly sceptical of astrology

Debrief rest in peace L5R ccg

It seems to be a Magic clone, albeit a bad one.
Yep, game was dead before it even launched. It's nothing more than a mash-up of Yu-Gi-Oh, WoW TCG, and MTG... and it's not a very good one either.
DBS ccg still exists. And it's growing.
So... this is just a mash-up of MTG, the WoW TCG, and Yu-Gi-Oh.

It may sound complex at first glance but you can pick up the mechanics really quickly after a game or two :)
being first in the comment section is like coming in 4th at the special olympics, so, yea.
This channel is such a disappointment considering how good it originally was. Now it's just board game advertisements over and over....
