Building a Backyard MTB Trail || Ramp Build

- This is part two of the backyard MTB trail build. I am super stoked to start working on this trail some more. In this video I go step by step what I did to build a movable outdoor box jump for mountain biking. I break this build up into three parts:
1) Building the takeoff ramp
2) Building the landing ramp
3) Building the center tabletop section
This ramp is super fun and would be great for a ramp you can build and leave in your backyard, driveway, or anywhere else outdoors because it uses all pressure treated lumber. So no need to put this ramp away after each session!! - Хобби
This is the sickest thing that inspired me to build a bunch of little features outside
That first scene is legendary
I thank you for these ideas because I now have a trail of my own!
Glad to hear it!!!
These videos are SUPER helpful! Thanks!
Couldn’t help but notice the dope vehicles you have as well as the sick trail in your yard. You’re living the dream brother man.
Thanks man, I am definately lucky to be living the dream!
This is sweet! Cant wait to see you progress more and be moving that landing out, keep up the building dude!
Keep building this man. It would be a sick backyard. You are really inspiring me to do things in the future
Thanks dude! Happy to hear that, and good luck with building in the future🤙
So gnarly love your videos!!!
cool ! it gave me idea how to do it thanks! have fun riding
Super awesome. I plan on doing something like this during this stay home time

This is my mtb trail, I'd be happy to see your comments
Haha that start is classic 🤘🏽
One thing to keep in mind for anyone building features. If you want it to last more than a few years and your wood is in contact with the ground you need to get ground contact lumber. The other option is to lay down some stone first. This really only applies to some dimensional lumber as timbers ie 4x4 and 6x6s are almost always ground contact rated. Really nice job!!
Great idea with putting stone underneath. May have to try try that, Thanks!
epic build
Sweet jump
I re built your ramp thanks a lot for the video though it took a couple guesses I got it and it’s super sick
Love ur truck
cant wait for the next one
Great vid 🤗👍
Thanks!!!
You could make a small wall ride so you can then go higher
Riding with Jack this is what I might build.
Noah Eardley nnnnnnnice
Riding with Jack I can’t tho cause he hasn’t said the specifications

Awesome video
Sick vid🤘🏼inspired me to ride my bike🔥
Thanks! Happy to hear that. Have fun!!
I really like your trailbuilding videos! Hopefully you can start posting more often
Thanks! I will be sure to post next time I build something
Videos are great and congrats on the almost 7k subs that u have. Good luck with your channel. The only change I would like is for you to upload more frequently. I understand that u have work and travel that is more of a priority than the channel, but it would be nice to see more videos like this every 1 to 2 weeks.
Thanks for the support, much appreciated!!! I wish I could put out videos more frequently, the bad part is I have a ton of footage saved to make several videos, but editing is very time consuming for a noob like me.
bbMTB Ya it will most likely take a bit to learn to edit and post faster but either way good luck
You're trail is epic
Thanks!!
I’m subbed and notifications bell is on love your videos
Thanks for the support!!
and I’m definatly considering of a wall ride somewhere in the future
Ive been waiting for this lol
Hope you like it!
How about adding a see-saw drop off. Could be a small alternative route next to your 1st drop off.
Or a bigger one somehow using the height of your deck. (Without ruining the deck)
I like that idea with the deck, need to think more about a good way to incorporate the deck into the trail some how
Nice job man. Solid ramp 🤘Maybe a skinny feature next up?!
Thanks man, yeah I skinny would be sweet, I suck at those so would be great to practice and get better
Tacoma, 4 runner, and a Drz. Damn, those are all my dream vehicles. Btw, awesome channel; your like sethsbikehacks.
Thanks for the support! Also, you have great taste in vehicles!!
bbMTB well you can say the same for yourself.
Annnd subscribed! This was very thorough and easy to replicate. Build a wall ride next!
Awesome! And thank you
amazing kicker .. any idea what each weighs ?
You could have done the same thing making the transition by tying a pen at 8’ on a string attached to the other board at 8”. Skateboard ramps are made this way. You can get super accurate radius’s with a nail, string and pen/pencil. And you can make whatever size radius you want with the same string.
Do you have a link to the plans for this? This design is perfect for my next backyard project.
New Seth's bike hacks
good job
Hey nice trail like the progress. By the way I was wondering what bike you used. Thanks
The next episode! Finally!
It’s been way too long for sure
Good Job Mate, Cool vid! :)
Thanks!
Awesome
Thanks!!
This is awesome, build a rock garden
Hey I am very interested in building this ramp and in the video you said you had blue prints but I don’t know where they are. If you can please let me know the exact way you built this ramp.
nice dr
Soo cool, please can you put the measurements in the comments and pin it, I'd really love to make this
What were the dimensins? Length and height of take off?
Hey whats your opinion on the fork
Can you post the blueprints please
I really really want to build this but I don't know the dimensions of anything else required
We need a video on that supermoto in the garage
You should make a wall ride
You should really make a bigger drop off of the first one. Maybe 5 feet or so? Then if you really want to push it insane, you could make one even bigger far off the right side that lifts up, flattens out, then drops about 8 feet. Too insane? If I were you I would build I little harder drop of the side and make a little new trail to the right of the main trail, that has a mandatory gap, with a wooden wall ride into it! Ok this comment is getting out of hand. 🤣. Keep imagining bigger!!!
I like the way you think, I need to make some challenging features as well as more easy/ fun stuff!
Because you're leaving the jump at a decent amount of speed I'd recommend building a roller that you could pump that leads up into a berm, this way you could make it to the top of your garden with speed to spare so you can continue the trail. I hope this makes sense. I'd recommend building the wooden berm at the same height as the top of your garden so you don't lose any speed after pumping the roller
Thats a great idea, may do something like that next. Also was thinking of putting a roller before the jump aswell possibly
@@bbMTB that'll be sick, I'd love to see how far you can make this jump!
You should make a berm after where the jump then a skinny feature
Build a drop off of the screened in deck or along the railing near the grill near and tikki torches. Also does your backyard trails have a name yet?
That’s a great idea, I have thought about doing that in the past but never came up with a good plan or anything to actually do it. Might start thinking about that more seriously because it would be pretty awesome!
And no the trail does not have a name yet, haven’t thought about it yet
I just discovered your Instagram and the Upper Decker!!!
I say you add a rock garden. Could do it as an alternate line
You should make a cool see saw
How did you determine that an 8 ft radius is ideal for the transition? Is that some kind of standard.
8 foot Is not a standard as far as I know...8 foot is just what worked for this particular ramp’s transition. If your building a ramp you can mess around with different transitions until it’s ideal for your ramp. The lower the number the steeper the ramp and the higher the number the mellower it will be.
Another way to do this is to measure string to the length of the transition and attach your pen or sharpee to the end of the string, as opposed to using a piece of wood like I did. That way you can make the string different lengths and draw out multiple transitions until you have one that is the steepness you want.
Aloha fellow youtuber! Noticed at 2:22 you promised viewers a link to blueprints for this project. And a number of your audience members have requested in contents. Are you going to provide? Just edit description with a inventory list at a very minimum.
Where can I find the blueprints for the ramp
Lots more builds plz
I’ll be sure to post more builds whenever I build something next!
MORE!!!!!
After the jump
You should build a nice size kick for tricks
Good idea, I was Thinking of building a kicker at the top of the hill near the start of the first wood feature and using the hill as the landing. Would be fun, but would have to open up the gate to get enough speed for take off
A gas powered weed whacker would work well to get rid of the over growth you would just have to use a Short length of trimmer line and smash the grass down to the dirt , if your looking for an affordable brand that works really well I use a Redmax brand trimmer for work and I honestly will never use another brand STIHL makes good ones too but I find that Redmax is better and cheaper , for trimmers at-least , STIHL is great for chainsaws and hedge clippers and other things like that
Where can I find the blueprint
Did he for real just ride in crocs
What state are you from?
how do i make it
Why did you used 2x10 instead of deck boards?
I went with 2x10s for this build because If I used decking planks the ramp would have been too wide to support weight in the middle of the ramp. If the ramp narrower, or I added a center support than I’m sure decking planks would have worked great.
How much was the wood for that
That intro is fabio Wibmer style
where's the build spec you promised? LOL JK but if you have them that would be awesome
Dig your berm higher or curvy for turning
b-tech seths bike hacks😂
blueprints? would love to build one of my own
Sorry, haven’t drawn them yet, but will try to remember to get to it soon
Did you supply the specs for this build as mentioned.am i missing it!
No I didn’t, your not missing it, I can’t figure out how to put them in the description. Maybe I can edit them into the video or something.
Ok. Ill just pause go back pause. Etc.. Allgood. Im trying to duplicate this ..its what i was looking for..thanks for posting.
I just finished my first drop build in the woods by my house..its not pretty but it works.
Build a shark fin berm going around that corner
Build another line starting next to the first drop and make a huge berm going into the small one that goes into the jump and then after the first jump make another
Good idea, will think about adding something like that!
Sweet can’t wait to see what you do
What helmet is that? Love the orange!
It’s the kali maya, I don’t think they make the orange color anymore though
bbMTB awe man! Sweet video tho!
What bike do you have
Canyon spectral
Over the zaun
First once again
🏅👍
You should make a spine
So awesome. Love what you are doing. Any chance of sending me a blueprint or materials list if I give you my email?
4:14 he's prepared for corona
Where are the plans?
go for a full 20 foot dirt step up
If only I had several dumptruck loads of dirt, that would be sick
Do more builds
When you have to turn left
Build a transfer to the left
Ohhhh that’s a really really good idea. I’m most likely gonna try that, have not thought of that yet! Thanks!
Are those John Wick's crocs?
No, but he wore the same Crocs in the newest movie.
This guy is gonna be the new Seth’s bike hacks
Where are the blueprints?
Second
🏅🤟
Wait what you live in nz where
I wish I lived in NZ, I just traveled there earlier this year
@@bbMTB oooo oke
6:48 Gum chewer eh?
Looks like you spilled your beer a couple of times in your 56 try’s.
Pls do more riding the ramps than building
Will keep that in mind for the next vid
@@bbMTB build dirt jumps not wood
when u could actually go to home depot with no mask
Omg he has a full sus too
Bruh did that in moist crocks
