As a teen in the early 90s the work program I was in assigned me to the local county airport (Zerby's) on a construction crew that was building a new hangar, the octagon one if you're curious enough to google map it with satellite view. I have a lot of great memories of being and working there on that project. One of the greatest memories that happened was a pilot there had a Corsair and flew it fairly often so I got to see it, touch it, and even sat in the pilot seat a few times getting teased about taking it for a flight. That memory is one of those memories we have that was so euphoric we never forget them.
This is the best Corsair footage I've ever seen. My son and I saw this same ship back in the late 80s when Chuck Hall owned it in Ramona ,Ca. What a beautiful restoration, flown by one of, if not the best warbird pilot around. Is it coming back to Chino anytime soon ?
F4U-4 Corsair. Never goes out of style. Outstanding in every way.
