Processed a batch of this on 12-13 out in my heated garage while my bride was baking baklava inside. The garage smelled great but the kitchen smelled wonderful. Mongolian Pouch o Noodles was my first item packaged for 2025. John this was so very good. I love garlic and onions but they don't like me much so I substituted the garlic in this recipe for 1tsp of garlic salt. I also added some sliced sirloin as well. Great recipe John. Kudos.

Another great one, John. FTR, I consider those ramen packs to be one of the best sources of cheap, tasty calories. As a "starving student", I ate a *lot* of ramen, only much later learning that it's common to add more than just the "flavor packet", which is basically colored salt. Now 59 and retired, I still like ramen, though I generally toss the flavor packet and cook it in water with "Better Than Bullion", and add in various vegetables and sometimes an egg, and once I have it in a bowl to serve, shredded cheese, which melts right in. I didn't notice the failure to remove the O2 absorber, and laughed when you removed it late. As for Sriracha, that's a great addition to many meals. Just this morning I had a Vietnamese noodle bowl at a decent restaurant, and used plenty of sriracha to improve it. That's one of the hot sauces we always keep on hand. If you like spice, and flavor, and haven't already tried it, I recommend trying Tabasco's "Scorpion Pepper" sauce. Great flavor, and plenty of heat, but not overwhelming.

Oh, also, we have one of those FoodSaver vacuum setups, and have never had a problem with the seal failing. We got it at Costco, didn't pay a lot, and it takes either pre-made bags or the rolls of bag material.

2 minutes of extra seal time is definitely worth the added insurance that your food stays sealed for many years!

My wife and I refer to the O2 absorber as the flavor pack. I am going to try this recipe for our next batch of backpacking meals. I might try egg noodles instead of ramen though.

John watching your process I am seriously considering doing my batches on 4 trays and reserve the 5th for small left overs. I use the Ultra One also but have never had an issue with the heat seal not working unless my bag is not placed on the heat seal correctly. Because the Ultra One is limited on depth under the glass if the bag is compacted down by the glass top it can make the bag move if you are not careful. I love my Ultra One.
