You are a beautiful person, inside and out!! Your eyes are amazing bright blue!! I'm trying to figure out whether I want to do crew chief or become a Warrant officer. I want to become a Warrant Officer so I can actually fly the bird BUT I want to also become a Crew Chief because that's what I did when I was in the Air Force, also to be a door gunner and just watch outside as we fly by looks amazing!!! Have you gone on any deployments? If so, what was your experience with those?
What was your process like on getting into a Crew Chief position that flies with the aircraft right away? Or were you that lucky, hahaha??? I am looking into going Army and want to be a Crew chief for helos but also want to be a door gunner, I don't mind about the deployments since that it something I know thats what's going to happen eventually but most importantly, I want to be a door gunner. Eventually I do want to drop WO package to be able to go to flight school to fly the helos but that's only a thought.
Sgt. Arnett didn't post that. It doesn't look at all like you think. She's an E-5; I'm not sure if she's still NG or went Regular. She may have been activated, therefore she as Active (Regular time). She made E-5, depending on the MOS and this and that, probably took her 2 years +. Learn everything you can, ignore the sh*thouse lawyers. PT PT PT. You can make it fun, you can do whatever you want on the weekends (when you are done with training, and if not deployed). So run through the woods, mountain bike, hike, climb. Whatever, live an active lifestyle it helps. Learn to filter information from the chaos. Get what needs to be done, done. Military Service can be really fun; keep your drinking in check - more fresh brand new rank has been lost the weekend after it was pinned because of alcohol than any other reason. Be smart. Drink in a safe place; get a uber/cab/sober driver - your unit will probably have one. Use it. Too many opportunities will exist where it will be up to you to not eff up. Easy bad credit, town girls (nothing wrong with them, but a married E-1 will be miserable), don't buy stupid cars. yada yada, you'll figure it out. I personally think of the best Soldiers as 1st echelon problem solvers.
Way to go, Sgt Arnett! Thanks for sharing your story.
Bless this young warrior
