SO update- I DID NOT buy this- I re-visited after 3-4 days of rain (the perfect time) and this place was almost entirely flooded- cabin and all- just a mess. GLAD I took the time to check it out a second time- I'll talk more about it in one of my upcoming videos....
I fell in love with it. I could see it in it’s prime; the ponds vegetation pulled back, the ‘stream’ cleanly upkept, with bridges over the stream. Oil lamps illuminating the porch and it’s view. The dreamer in me says buy it. I can see the potential.
Looks like a TON of work, and potentially more trouble than it's worth. I personally wouldn't buy such a swampy small piece of property with such a tiny bit of high ground.
Deek you and I have traded e-mail over the years this is one of those times I think you should walk away and invest your time in something or place else because I think you are spreading yourself thin at times.
I'd buy it. You're just the guy who could pull it off. The only thing that I would consider is the price and how many projects do I have going on at the time. neat little place for sure! You could always make the pond deeper 😊
There will be sooo many mosquitoes in the summer there. Eh, if it came with more property I would be more interested. Not sure how much land you have to work with when you have a wet year
I'm seeing stilts! Too bad the cabin has deteriorate so far but that's a lot of marsh to deal with to think of renovation. But then again IF ANYONE can make this shine it's you Deek!! Keep us posted! It is beautiful country and that bridge is gorgeous!!! Stay safe!!!
Hey Deek. I’d go for it. Lots of potential. Get an excavator and scoop out the pond to make it deeper and build up another area with the pond soil. Could get a few glamping cabins in there. Get the excavator to ‘accidentally’ run into the existing cabin too😂
wow a rare spawn is back :D good to see another video from you "moist" land isn't bad, especially not if it usually gets very dry in the area... but digging some ditches and build higher up would help... lots of frogs = good sign + keeps the skeeter population down
those are to water cows if they are in stanchions for milking....as far as the house and land.... you could dredge out the pond to make it deeper.... there are some things salvageable from the house... however I don't think the actual house is.... take what you want... burn the rest.... bring several loads of dirt and gravel in there to raise the level some of the ground... do your little stream with a walking bridge... if you make the little stream a bit deeper it might train it to a certain area and keep it from "wandering" everywhere. But when you build... or put whatever in there... I would put it on wheels so you can pull it out if needed. I would also brush hog the whole acre except the apple trees and the healthy trees. It will take a lot of work and you will have a lot of sweat equity in it... but if you can get it cheap enough... it could be a really cool place... but it will end up costing you quite a bit overall ... keep us posted what you do to the place if you get it
So...if ya like a good physical project that needs some equipment to move some soil/ structures around/down I think it would be a beautiful place. Ya know dig out the pond, move that soil to build up a higher area to build something on, salvage what ya can. It would be a great exercise in creativity and resourcefulness. Would take some money but it would be so fun to see ya bring it to life. Just found your channel by the way. Take the best of care!!!. I'll be waiting to see what ya decide.
That’s a great idea bringing the fish food. I’m actually considering buying a cabin to restore possibly many listed with a private pond and what not thanks for the video.
I think you should knock the whole cabin down and rebuild a new cabin 4 feet off the ground. The cabin is probably going to cost some extra money anyway to fix all all the damage and rot inside and out. A 10x12 log cabin would look good on that acre of land.
Bogland can be managed and be beneficial too. The cabin can be saved, you could even cactus juice etc stabilize that wood, keep that rotted look for a looong time to come. As a structure it is NOT from the GREAT BOOK OF APPROVED HOMES pages 76 through 78 inclusive so a total win there.
A picturesque place indeed. Search for less money. And then make an a-frame with a lookout point on top. The metal thing is used for watering cows. Greeting
At first I was like Run away! Lots of work, lots of water and mosquitos, total gut job or relocate house to higher ground. But if you want secluded and back to nature go for it. Carve out better drainage and make pond deeper
Yes, but the cold weather will kill the pump(s). He would have to replace it (them) almost every year, or take them out in the winter. Lots of maintenance.
Buy it, gorgeous spot, great potential. Structure, meh, I would tear it down? Love the fact that it is so remote. Would imagine that you are going to be able to find old trash dumps from early 1900/1800's, so a lot of treasures to find. Just treat the demo with caution, masks, gloves! Safety 1st. Love the pond, you could keep that stocked and fish.
Deek those things you found in the back of the property are livestock water stanchions it was common to find them in calf pens. I can see value in the reclamable lumber. The cabin at somepoint is going to be on the ground... do you take it down now or let nature do it? To the question is it worth it? It all depends on the price tag. I can see the land's potential but is it worth the time and work to get that potential and value? Maybe, the real question is do YOU have the time and energy to make it happen? The clean up would be a full time job for a month or so.
Buy this property , tear down this dilapidated structure , most importantly recycle these buildings. You could build your A frame , but with a three foot knee wall . A Timberframe , site built A frame would be really cool . You could build it on that really high spot you pointed out .
Its a swamp. Wouldn't be worth it for me, but maybe for someone with lots more energy and resources. The pond might have been dug in order to try to drain the land a bit. Didn't work.
The property alone would be worth all the money, pond a bonus. Love how secluded it is 😍 editing half way through…I’d be concerned of rainy season, the water makes me think mold spores! That would not be good.
I say run. Unless you have a stack of $100 bills you want to burn 🤷🏻♀️ And I wouldn’t leave that cabin if you build. It would be a liability if one of your Airbnb guests went in and got hurt.
Keep the cabin it has a nice dirt floor under the rotten boards lol,😅😆and those things you found out back,we're used in cow barns so the cows could help themselves to the water👍😊...

Should I buy this one? What's your opinion? Def LOTS and LOTS of work.....
Deek you and I have traded e-mail over the years this is one of those times I think you should walk away and invest your time in something or place else because I think you are spreading yourself thin at times.
@@krissfemmpaws1029 I have a follow up I'm gonna add in the next video

Will def talk about it more in a follow-up pretty soon

Prob some pretty reich soil too- it being all rotten plant matter and leaves from over the years
wow a rare spawn is back :D

Good ideas- and on a similar wavelength of what I was/am thinking

Need a really nice screen house - black flies, deer flies and mosquitoes will carry you away. Don't forget those confounded so-and-so ticks.
our family used to have a farm in St. Johnsbury years ago.......fun project!
My guess: You can find a dry lot for sale up there for the same price with no crappy building on it. Pass, Deek.
I’m impressed that around 10 out of the 77 commenters knew what that cow watering bowl is.❤
That’s a great idea bringing the fish food. I’m actually considering buying a cabin to restore possibly many listed with a private pond and what not thanks for the video.
Those are cattle watering fountains. Cow pushes down on the center and the bowl fills up.
Yup, family friends had dairy cattle, been 50 years since I saw them in use on the farm.

looks like a vintage livestock automatic watering bowl.......cool sink!
That’s a great video! That place is my dream!!!! Are you going to update on whether or not you buy it?
Yes- I'll mention more in the next video.... thanks for watching
At first I was like Run away! Lots of work, lots of water and mosquitos, total gut job or relocate house to higher ground. But if you want secluded and back to nature go for it. Carve out better drainage and make pond deeper
LOTS and LOTS of work- I was thinking of just taking the whole house down- using the materials....
Beautiful area! Buy it Deek! I've been watching you for years! Thank for all your videos! God Bless!
Hey thanks so much :)
Get some of those solar powered fountains to put in the pond to discourage the mosquitoes. The fountains would also help the fish.
Yes, but the cold weather will kill the pump(s). He would have to replace it (them) almost every year, or take them out in the winter. Lots of maintenance.
I say buy it and use what you can out of it to build something else on stilts. It has potential if you’re willing to put in the work.
Buy it, gorgeous spot, great potential. Structure, meh, I would tear it down? Love the fact that it is so remote. Would imagine that you are going to be able to find old trash dumps from early 1900/1800's, so a lot of treasures to find.

Marshy-mosquito city! No thank you! :)

It’s a really cool property and would b great hideaway Airbnb spot or just a getaway for you and family
Are any of the properties around it also for sale? Do they have higher ground? I'd try to buy 2 that connect.
I'd run. I'd imagine mosquitos would be bad during warm weather. And swampy land can result in sinkholes.
So, what is your decision? Lots of work!
The metal thingy cow water feeder maybe?
I think at 15:22 it’s an old cattle drinker!
It's kinda funny that no one saw that where you found the animal waterers was a foundation of a barn.
You think so? No much wood there..... must have been a very small one....
bret354 - That totally makes sense.😊
build on stilts. looks to be a drainage low spot for the entire area. you need to see the place during a massive rainstorm.
Oh I did.... more on that soon.....
Beautiful area but, RUN. The wet swampy rot factor is unfixable.
Yeah- absolutely no saving that cabin
7:44 Thats a funny statement 😂
That pond is probably more septic water than fresh water.
IF they have a homemade septic somewhere, I doubt it has been used in 20 years....
Why not. You only live once, buy it. I would a d it gots a pond. And how much land, like u said. A hunters paradise
Lot of clearing to be done, but sure is a pretty piece of land
Update? I'm guessing you bought it.
Its a swamp. Wouldn't be worth it for me, but maybe for someone with lots more energy and resources. The pond might have been dug in order to try to drain the land a bit. Didn't work.
Nice

I'll explain a bit more in an upcoming video- thanks for watching
Yeah we've seen that episode of Supernatural :P
Cattle waterer. They had built in floats, so the water would shut when the cows lifted their mouths out of the bowl..
Do it!!
I’d say that’s a “No!” Edit: Maybe, if it’s out of cellular range. Perhaps.
Oh there is definitely no signal there...at least with Verizon- lol
I say run. Unless you have a stack of $100 bills you want to burn 🤷🏻♀️
And I wouldn’t leave that cabin if you build. It would be a liability if one of your Airbnb guests went in and got hurt.
I thought the same thing- injury if it fell, etc
Yes!!
no, there are BIGFOOT there. pond mosquitos
Build a houseboat and Bobs your sister.😂😂😂
Horror movie set!
Yes! lol
I would run from this but I am not as talented as you, Deek.
Livestock waterer
Run fast. Too much work!
Run
Cabin Needs to be elevated.
Elevated to be tossed into a dumpster perhaps ;)
Keep the cabin it has a nice dirt floor under the rotten boards lol,😅😆and those things you found out back,we're used in cow barns so the cows could help themselves to the water👍😊...
🏃!!!
Old farmland
I sure would if I could
Hell, no!
Floating tiny on the pond?
Run away
Run away fast
Walk away
buy it and jack that cabin up of the ground three feet.
