Ya know before this I was honestly considering doing the fan-made Phantasm stages as well...WAS being the key word here...We'll see how I feel once I make it to Touhou 10...but after this nonsense...hell no...
First of all to note everything about the Phantasm stage is a harder remix of the Extra stage. From the stage to mid-boss to boss herself everything to a certain degree follows the same logic as before.
The stage is the most unchanged possessing almost the same enemy placements, the primary difference is every attack is now faster. Once you get over that hurdle you'll actually learn that the primary dodging will be much easier because now enemy bullets will not linger on the screen for long. A scant silver lining I know but really you need every advantage you can get.
Ran is the mid-boss this time and attacks with almost the same pattern as Chen did before. She doesn't jump around as much now nor is as quick rather she more attempts to overwhelm you in bullet density. While this does make her attacks harder to dodge it does make her a better target.
Yukari is...something else...While the stage was very similar to the Extra stage her attacks are now at best similar to Ran's at worst completely different. The main thing to keep in mind is that despite the fact that they may look like Ran's, Yukari's attacks are NOT illusion-like at all. Everything you see is just as bad as it looks. Almost all of Yukari's attacks focus on the balance of two different attacks fired at the same time fired in different directions. You basically have to learn how to focus on one attack while trusting that you can dodge the second attack without watching it.

The reason "Boundary of Life and Death" was so difficult near the end is because once you pass 30 seconds left on the timer, the game initiates a sped-up version of the card's final phase because it assumes you're attempting to time it out. Defeat it quickly enough and it won't have that extra speed, making it a good bit more tolerable to complete.

Phantasm-Level boss, and she was half-awake the entire time.
So what would her "Full" power's level even look like? Greater than the entire Lunar army if used seriously with a hint of rage?
Technically she did lose to the lunar army... but it's up in the air as to weather she lost on purpose thinking long term. The way I see it though, she has enough power that she was one of the three people that created Gensokyo in the first place if that can give you some insight to what she can do if she puts her mind to it.
I think they weren’t really waging that much of a war and wanted to thin out the population of unwise yokai

@@IdiotNo You do realize she "lost" there because her "loss" was a part of her plan, right? Yeah, sure, that rope really did bind her, and the Lunarians shouldn't ever be underestimated because they really are unfairly powerful... but Yukari has this penchant for crafting strategies in which her "losing" gets her exactly what she wants anyway. (In the case of Bougetsushou and SSiB: Remilia's invasion of the Moon was a distraction, as was Yukari's invasion of the Moon; Yukari losing to the Lunarians served to make them drop their guards so that Yuyuko's infiltration of the Moon would be successful... then she used the Lunarian sake that Yuyuko stole to emotionally scar Eirin for life.)
@@GrahamChapman Btw Yukari controls borders too, not only physical but conceptual too, for example in a second she can change the entire rules of danmaku fighting to make it lethal to you, or kill you all of a sudden. She is basically god, because anything with distinct twin effect, can be controlled by Yukari. She is way too GOATED.

I think that was Yukari's way of saying "Are you actually serious right now?" and Marisa is just backtracking verbally.

Yowza. I know the fandom tends to go a bit overboard...but at least I can _buy_ Cirno as a loudmouth idiot or Kaguya as a shiftless parasite. There's absolutely nothing in Yukari's mannerisms or dialogue that skew even remotely close to "silver-tongued violent self-righteous power abusing sociopath dirtbag" to me. If anything, she sounds _confused_. Can't really fault her for being lazy, either, given that powerful Gensokyites throwing their weight around is what causes these crazy "incidents" incidents. If I were in her position, hell yeah I'd rather sleep all day, then put on a pot of tea before catching a sakura viewing.
Oh, and she's a killer boss, but no more than any of the other Touhou extra stage bosses I've seen.
Well actually yes and no. While yes a power abusing sociopath is an extreme flanderization of Yukari in general she is definitely a silver-tongued schemer to a certain degree, however that did not come from this game. Keep in mind she appeared again in everyone's storyline in Touhou 7.5 and in there more often than not she would purposely tease and confuse the others solely to aggravate them. Though to be honest I don't really see many people treat Yukari as a power abuser even in darker doujin work really just varying degrees of playfully lazy. But then again just because it's not common doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
Also people don't tend to bring up her status as a killer boss so much because of how difficult she is in game. While that is a point considering she is the only Phantasm boss in the entire series. It's more because of her ability and position in Gensokyo. Her gap powers are vague and limitless in power as far as fans are considered while canonically speaking she both created Gensokyo and she is the main one maintaining the border between it and the outside world so it doesn't collapse in on itself.
Imagine trying to do this without dying or using bombs.
Never can really finish Marisa story but i am amazed at how Marisa capable to understand science.
In Sakuya part, Yukari is a spider and Sakuya is a "human" (From the story of Buddha's Heavenly Spider Thread)
Also, in Sakuya story, both act as "elegant ladies"
In Reimu, talks about "spiriting away" (Inspired from spiriting away) also about how long Yukari has been watching Reimu.

Actually, that symbol isn't a bad one. It's a Buddhist temple symbol called the "manji". The Swastika is a flipped/stolen version of it.

How do you get the Phantasm Stage? I beat the Extra Stage but I haven't gotten it
As well as beating the Extra Stage you need to have also captured at least 60 spell cards with all characters combined.
You should be fairly close at this point, if memory serves I just hopped into Easy Mode for a moment to easily top myself off

No, no. Not EVERY Spell Card, just 60 of them. And that's between four difficulties and three characters.
So for example, just being able to capture all the Stage 1 spell cards as every character from Easy-Lunatic will nab you 30 spell cards.

I don't know how to use master spark press what
+JadeFireNinja ninja Press "X" while focused to use your Master Spark bomb. If you do it while unfocused you use the Non-Directional Laser bomb. Though that only works for this shot type, the other ones use different bombs.
Much misunderstanding. Yukari's theme is pure Necrofantasia. Ran's theme is different but with Necrofantasia in it.

Play it. This guy mastered every pixel and his hitbox very well.
This is indeed easy if you use bombs and Sakuya. If you play elegantly like MegamanOmega (with Marisa and almost no bombing), this is hard.
Everything looks easy when watching.
