This was really helpful. I used to drive a stick shift for work and with LA traffic I began to get really bad left leg iliopsoas spasm to the point where I couldn’t even sit at a date and had to stand at the bar. Daily static and dynamic stretching, hydration, core and gluteal strengthening and a couple cortisone shots really helped. Also I had to buy an suv as getting into an out of a sport car as a tall dude aggravates it too. Thank you for these stretches, I’ll also consider the bands on the days I don’t go to the gym. Cheers.
Thank you. This is very helpful. I appreciate that you guys show the full stretches and movement, and ALSO acknowledge that many of us must start with a modified version. Im glad you gave that lesson again about the muscles that counter each other and how to release them. Thanks again.
So lucky I came across you two, started when I was looking for help with my tennnis elbow, thank you guys. Now it's my hamstring near my glutes that I need rehab advice on. Great interaction, can't beat a laugh when learning something!
I attended a course about recovery from abuse / post traumatic stress disorder healing via yoga. We were taught that emotions get trapped in the psoas. We were also taught stretching the psoas releases negative emotions and thereby creates emotional healing. FYI
I’m about to try these tomorrow. I’ve been suffering for over 4 years with pain in my left hip, back and leg. The chiro I went to over 3 years ago said it was my psoas muscle and she had to break up the fascia with a large surgical stainless steel dull blade tool. It hurt so bad! She did that every Tuesday for over 2 months. She got pregnant and had to go on maternity leave or I’d be a complete cripple still. She was so nice and I’m sure believed she was helping me, but it only felt “better” as in, I could move it better, for the same day she did it.
Her work isn’t enough. You have to have a whole program of stretching at home and strengthening other muscles . . . . And you have to keep it up so it doesn’t happen, again.
My psoas muscles are the meanest meanies in my body, they are always tight. And before you say it…. No I don’t sit all day. So THANK YOU!!!! This is the best medicine from the “ protagonist” you both are!
I wish you could come to ontario Canada. Seeing you both and literally helping a lot of people would be awesome. Not only that, people that are going through the same thing could help each other...in person!!!!!
Thank you guys! I've got a left bursa/IT band issue. I am watching all of your hip videos, which really have been helpful. 💟 By the way, you all are hilarious.
Thanks for asking about this. 👍. Over my life, I'm 70 now, I've been in numerous rear end accidents. t Two were really bad and I had to be in a neck collar for months. I still have issues
@@BobandBrad my surgeon said he'll send me for PT but I'm trying your suggestion first. He also suggested ibuprofen, but it doesn't help. If I don't get relief and better able to lift my leg, I'll contact Dr again. Thank you!
Guys do a video on the difference in a tall persons posture and a short persons. I think its bob who is tall - i am tall also and tend to slump because everything in my life is lower so it naturally starts bending your back would be a great video
I am a 40 yrs old guy, I had polio as a kid, fortunately I am able to walk. As aI age I feel that my hips and legs muscles are getting stiff and was wondering what stretches can recommend for hip, legs and lower extremity.
Can you explain the concept of staying away from the lymph nodes for foam rolling or massager gun in another video? I've watched a lot of videos and it's always a quick mention, seems important, but I still struggle with really knowing what I can and can't do. Will I know if I'm in the wrong spot? What happens if I do it by accident?
I don't have a table/bench like you do. How can safely do this at home? Because of avascular necrosis in my hips, I spend a lot of time in a wheelchair and need to stretch those muscles badly, without worry of breaking my hips.
Gentlemen, I have had both hips totally replaced. The left side of my psoas is trapped due to the placement of the Titanium ball. What can I do to help and it is only the left as both sides are total hip replacement,,On MRI the muscle is shrunken and the nerve, artery and veins are also blocked. I am 65 now my surgery was at age 40. Is there hope? Thanks again
Hi guys. Love your content. Its so good. May I ask. I was given a Norditrack Skier from the nineties, and I gave it a go. But, after ten or so minutes my hip flexors area was on fire. I am normally a duck foot walker, but this machine encourages a more parallel foot knee alignment. What should I do? I want to build up some cardio and trim the fluff with my new gift. Can either of you run a NSkier?
I'm 61 years old L5 and L 6 in my back of been screwed up for 20 years now it's in my neck I also hurt my back last week and what I'm experiencing I've never experienced before it's in my left butt cheek I can't cough I can't lift my leg forward and when I lay down it feels like my left butt cheek is going to blow out it is so painful how do I stretch this thing out !!!! HELP!!!thank you very much
I will pray for you. I'm also a medical licensed massage therapist since 1992. Im so sorry for your pain. In the name of Jesus i pray for your healing.
Had a sharp burning pain wake me one night out of ny sleep. Now that area on my hip and down the outside of the left leg feels numb sometimes and I can feel a buzzing sensation that comes and goes as I tilt my hips. What could that be?
I have almost the exact same thing! Except mine started as tingling on the surface whole awake. And it's on the outside but midthigh to just above the knee.
@@jenniferpearce1052 sorry to hear that. I have a slipped vertebra and rotated pelvis. I just have to get some weight off and into a more daily exercise routine. I fell off the wagon a few yrs now. Be well and hope the issues subside.
I'm dealing with this issue, so thanks for covering it. I've watched a few videos, but it can be confusing. And if Brad did take off his pants to demonstrate, I would not complain.😉

You guys are amazing!! OMG so engaging! I will be trying out those stretches. I appreciate your time, thank you.
Another (easier) way to explain engaging the glute muscles, is the have the person attempt tuck in their tailbone between their glutes.
I sit all day at times nowadays! This is perfect!

Solid advice as always.
If I bang my leg, like stub my foot, I get a terrible pain reverberating in my leg. It crosses across my upper thigh and down it.
i got Bob and Brads massage gun, much cheaper than theragun and just as good
Thank you, that's great to hear!
I want to know the name of the strech band Brad used
hey guys, went to your amazon link and this gun is out of stock. Do you have an idea of when it will be available again?
Can i do brads version of hip thrust if I have had a rip replacement?
what about the use of a foam roller to release the psoas? thank you!
sure- keep it toward the outside Front of the thigh bone.
Good luck
