I don't think it's fair to compare a 1 TB SSD to a 2 TB SSD cuz generally the one that is higher performs better you should have tested both at the same size
For the non tech folks. The bottle neck aren’t the drives but the PS5 itself. Between these tests and the heat sink tests. These are required watching for anyone purchasing a console. Great stuff.
I got a 1TB Samsung 980 pro w heatsink for a crazy discount of $120 on best buy and put that in my PS5. I just purchased the 1TB firecuda 530 w heatsink and that's going in my gaming laptop as a secondary drive.
Thanks for the video! I’ve been on the fence between the WD, Samsung 980 Pro, Seagate Firecuda, or Corsair MP600. Sounds like there’s really no big difference between any of these for the PS5, would that be an accurate statement?
I feel like anyone who knows anything about ssds for the PS5 or anyone who's watch this channel often will already know that the Seagate is the best on the market right now for the PS5 it's the fastest and most durable
Yeah apparently that is the case. Just remember Samsung dominating so long time in SSDs that I had hard time to believe at first that they have fallen behind recently. After researching came to same conclusion that yeah, it seems Firecuda 530 is the best NVME SSD on the market atm.
@Virelio I was referring to the comment about Samsung dominating for so long and falling behind lately. But I went with the 4TB FireCuda. Thank you for the information for future reference though!
I've just combined a 4TB Firecuda 530 with an Elecgear PS5 Heatsink will this be an issue or give adequate cooling just wondering if a different heatsink would be needed?
Great detailed video! My PS5 has the Seagate Firecuda 530 2TB (w Heat Factory Heatsink) and just want to check in with you if I can use the Elec Gear heatsink? Would I need to remove the factory Seagate heatsink in order to use the Elec Gear?
Yes, you would need to remove the factory heatsink to use the Elecgear heatsink/cover. It has an aluminum block that protrudes down into the SSD bay to make contact with the SSD to draw out the heat. It won't fit with the SSD's factory heatsink installed.
I’m confused. The video starts out with him talking about the Seagate firecuda but during comparison he talks about the Seagate IronWolf ?? What model is that ?!
Tbh, no. I have a direct vs of the two coming soon, but spolier alert, virtually identical and zero point getting the SN850x for PST over the WD Black SN850 STANDARD.
@@nascompares Thanks. I own wdsn850 1tb, I was gifted this SSD, and I feel a whole lot better to know your information tells me my ssd is just fine. @@richardoh3666 Whenever you upgrade, it's recommended to go both a tier up in performance and capacity. Otherwise it's largely a waste of money best spent elsewhere (e.g. for game loading times on PC, CPU/RAM/GPU matters too).
Would a Firecuda 530 4TB gen4 m.2 with heatsink work with the PS5? Even the PSN website says the ps5 can support 500gb-4TB SSD and i do enjoy my options in gaming.
I'm confused. The video title and start say it's the Firecuda, but the comparison footage says Ironwolf which if I remember is a different grade of drives from Seagate.
@@nascompares I think you even referred to it as the ironwolf too throughout the test. Either way it's good to know my Firecuda 530 purchase was still the overall better choice & that anyone looking to save a few pennies have a pretty good option.

100% agree, I would like to see this comparison, it would be much more fair and as a consumer this is what I care about.
According to benchmarks the Firecuda 1tb is slightly faster than the 2tb version.
@@frdchaos1692 And you believe that metric?
I believe pc reviews of the 530 1tb vs the 530 2tb.
I get my Firecuda 2tb drive on Monday, are they painful to firmware update?
Oh man, can't wait, managed to snatch a 530 4tb for £275. Speeeeeeeeed!
Nice! Where? Currently seeing prices around £355

So, the FireCuda 530 2tb or the WD_black 850x 2tb?
Just bought a 1TB WD Black this morning at walmart for $69 they had it in clearance with the Seagate next to it for $149
