Beautiful illustration. There aren't many depictions of this type of purple dragons. It doesn't help that deep dragons are also frequently referred to as "purple dragons".
I just woke under 4 blankets with my with my cat curled up next to me, it's currently snowing like crazy (14 inches with 10 more on their way) and a 34 minute long monster monday ready to be watched. Yeah... today's gonna be a good day
I love the lesser known chromatic dragons, and remember reading up on the purple in particular long ago, but I gotta say that breath sounds straight up like a plasma beam. Superheated electrical discharge is basically what plasma is afaik, and has some fun godzilla associations.
Excellent work on lore the Chromatic Dragons and a cooling look at the Purple Dragon my friend! The Chromatic Dragons are my five favorite dragons in DnD because they're so feared, ferocious, cruel, and horrific mighty creatures of all time. And your purple dragon drawing looks more menacing than Malefor, the Dark Master and the first purple dragon from The Legend of Spyro the video game series.
I was really wondering what kind of dragon you were drawing, since it didn't look like any of the five main Chromatics. It definitely resembles both the Red and Blue Dragons, so nice work!
This is awesome, give this purple dragon a fair fight, I would love to see a homebrew electrum dragon (alloy of gold & silver dragons) or the dragon god of good Bahamut!!
Anybody remember A Practical Guide to Dragons? Or any other books in that series? They were the BEST when I was in like 3rd grade. I didn't realize they were D&D until I was in middle school. Turns out I've been obsessed with D&D my whole life!
I'm so surprised, and pleased that you selected the Purple Dragon to draw! The Purple Dragon, and the Deep Dragon, are my two favorites! You sir, have a new fan, and a new subscriber! 😊
If I remember correctly, dragons dont eat more due to their elemental nature. This is why they prefer to live in elemental places. So a dragon honestly might only need to eat half of what a T-rex needs to eat since they can just draw energy from the elements in the environment. Truth is DnD dragons are infused with elemental power, and are thus naturally alien to basic science. Eitherway love the dragons!
A strong start. Dragons really do make everything just a little bit more awesome. PS: Perhaps consider doing a wholly Giant related month. Like maybe "The June of Giants". Something I couldn’t help but notice, was the similarity between “The Long Defeat” a phrase synonymous with J.R.R Tolkien, and the shortening lifespans of each generation of the Giants, do you think there is some kind of connection. Also Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year :D.
If you're really interested in learning more in depth info about D&D dragons within a story context, I recommend the series "The Year of Rogue Dragons" It has tons of dragon lore as it tells about the Dragon Rage that afflicted the dragons of Faerun...
Personally I'd love to see a Brainstealer Dragon, the union of an ilithid and dragon is so terrifyingly terrific and ticks so many eldritch boxes and feels like a true eldritch horror
@@thomaseasley2938 I retconned it into one faction since i typed that. (Keep in mind that i plan to make a game out of it.) Basically, all members of the dragons faction have the dragon breath ability and is associated with the dragoon class.
I would like to say that I'm surprised by this drawing, but your geinous is kinda expected by this point 😄 I love it, and the lore behind it! Fun fact: Serbian word for dragon is "zmaj" which means male snake, or rather the father of all snakes. It originates since beofre christianity in these parts, but even in those days, a snake was always a bad omen. In one of the old folk tales, a shepherd saved a snake from fire and she brought him to her father, the king snake (or rather dragon) who, as a reward, gave the young man the ability to understand the animal language by spitting in his mouth. The rest of the story is not that important, but let's just say that he got more than he bargained for. You can use this bit of lore in one of your next videos, and if you need any more info, don't hesitate to send me a message or email me. 😉
Very cool, hope life is treating you well since you have been uploading so consistently lately. But Baby Yoda told me to request you to do Wraith and Wil-o’-wisp again.
Those are a different kind of dragon, deep dragons. This is the purple dragon from dragon magazine, which is a crossbreed. This can be confusing as most information about "purple dragons" is about deep dragons, not the ones he's taking about.
They were also real. Not like anyone that may have expected them to be. Just look up dragon rock. As China England Germany America etc weren't the only continents who realized first hand.
Correct me if I'm wrong but- aren't Purple Dragons their own species? They have their own unique breath weapon that, rather than elemental damage, is psychic damage. I believe these dragons could also be referred to as Deep Dragons since they live in underground caves.
You might be right, the only dragon with a psychic damage breath that I can think of is the Brainstealer Dragon, he is purple in color as far as I know but I'm not sure if they qualify as being the purple dragon species
He's talking about the purple dragon presented in Dragon Magazine, which is a crossbreed. The purple dragon in the 4e draconomicon are deep dragons, which are a completely separate species.
Beautiful illustration. There aren't many depictions of this type of purple dragons. It doesn't help that deep dragons are also frequently referred to as "purple dragons".
Here there be dragons is the best phrase hands down. And my man you have distilled this phrase and put it into an entire month
Your description of green dragons could very readily be directly applied to most large corporations, as well.

I would absolutely love to see a Radiant Dragon in your art style as well whatever you can find to talk about them.
Draco December is a brilliant idea

DRAGON DECEMBER IS HERE!!!
I love your content, I send it to my dnd group all the time keep up the great work

Finally the purple dragon! It'll help me a lot with my players' upcoming encounter with the kingdom ruled by purple dragonborn.
After dragon December is over, I'd love to see Nightwalkers added to the waiting list!!
This is awesome, give this purple dragon a fair fight, I would love to see a homebrew electrum dragon (alloy of gold & silver dragons) or the dragon god of good Bahamut!!

I love how this purple dragon looks, dude! The teal-ish stomach really pops on this guy. I can't wait for the rest of Dragon December!
Thanks for giving me an answer to the "what happened to the Drow in your world?" Question. And an awesome idea for a massive boss monster.
I'm so surprised, and pleased that you selected the Purple Dragon to draw! The Purple Dragon, and the Deep Dragon, are my two favorites! You sir, have a new fan, and a new subscriber! 😊
Cool story needs more dragons 😂
The Purple Dragon lore was so fricking cool oh my god dude thanks for making this video

Oooooo! Brainstealer dragons are fantastic! Great call, Ducc!
Great content 🤙🏽
Yes! Love dragons and I'm doing a campaign incorporating several of them... 🙂
Amazing work can’t wait to see what else shows up this month
This is fantastic. Can't wait to see more!
Looks great as always!
I think that dragons can always make for the center piece of a campaign.
Also I request formally: Oblex
I have 3 dragon factions in my own stories.
Please tell me about these dragon factions

You should draw the Astral Dreadnought!
Amazing video, I cant wait for the ones to come!!!
Keep up the amazing work, you never fail to impress and entertain
Blacklight Dragon with radioactive breath? Duuuuude
Very cool, hope life is treating you well since you have been uploading so consistently lately.
But Baby Yoda told me to request you to do Wraith and Wil-o’-wisp again.
Wooo Dragon December
Also Kamehameha breath, just saying haha
I'm pretty sure purple dragons are long, slender built terrors of the underdark that shot force damage, but this is an interesting concept

A.J. Pickett sent me!
Also would love a depiction of an orange dragon haha thanks for the content!
You are so right. If there is one thing about December is that it does ...drag..on...
You should draw the bodak
They were also real. Not like anyone that may have expected them to be. Just look up dragon rock. As China England Germany America etc weren't the only continents who realized first hand.
I’d love to see nicol bolas

@@joshuazane3210 Ah I see, I was just extremely confused because in the Draconomicon they are referred to as Purple Dragons rather than Deep Dragons.
Is it how to draw lore or both.I don't know about this
