1998 saw the start of the Second Congo War in the Democratic Republic of the Congo - the deadliest conflict worldwide since World War II. The situation quickly demanded global attention and the intervention of an international peacekeeping mission, but this only led on to further questions as to who should lead it. With many countries having shown prior interest in one of the two conflicting parties, there was no clear choice for an intermediary force that would be accepted by both sides. This short film highlights the logistical and ethical difficulties in organising peacekeeping missions in a foreign country - having to maintain peace whilst upholding one’s reputation amongst the country’s inhabitants - as well as shedding light on one of the world’s deadliest ever conflicts.
