Showing the process of replacing the seal that started to leak on my Kubota Bx23s sub compact tractor. Thankfully this was a easy fix and has been holding up great for me. I share a few tricks I used in order to make this a quick fix.

Thanks for posting this great video! I just finished replacing the seal on the right hand side of my BX24. Without your instructions it would have been a much tougher job.
I'm glad it helped John! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Well done buddy. My B series is still bone dry on 80w gear oil.
Thanks, Steve! Next time, I change the fluid I might switch out for the gear oil! Thanks for tuning in!
Very well done video Tyler. You covered everything to do the job. Have a good week! See ya!
Thanks John, I appreciate you tuning in! I will try looks like more snow in the forecast for us here. You as well!
A man after my own heart. You actually cleaned everything & criss cross tightened your bolts.
Haha, too funny! Thanks for watching + commenting!
Good Evening Sir, you are THE BEST OF THE BEST Tractor Mechanic 👍👌😇 Outstanding tips 😇👌👍 Have a Safe Week Sir Cheers 🍻🍻
Yeah, that's a big stretch! Haha thanks for tuning in Dave!
Fabulous video. I just bought a used BX and see a little puddle on the floor. I’ll have to find you fluid change video and try that first. Do you have the link?
Thank you. Here is the fluid change video ruclips.net/video/wLKhQL6rXog/видео.html
Going to try the gear oil route?
How's she goin'? Nice job Tyler. A neighbor of mine did this job on his GC2300 and I made a video about that. They are very much alike the GC2300 and the BX's. I need to do this on my GC2300 too. Thanks for posting and take care!!
Thanks Mike! Yea I suppose theres only so many ways they can make a part like this! Thankfully its pretty straight forward! You'll have it done in no time! Thanks for tuning in!
Great instructional Tyler! I heard changing the axle seals is pretty involved work, and now I know. Does Kubota's fill cap there have a vent?
Thank you! The fill cap does not have a vent. As far as I'm aware these axles do not have a vent at all.
@@Tyler_Koehn Massey's GC have them with a vent hole at the top, but they're normally clogged up with paint from the factory. Dunno what's up with that.
@pondacres haha good quality control. It's better than kubota for not even having one! Hah. I wonder if they figure that it will not get hot enough to build pressure.
@@Tyler_Koehn that's what I'm asking, does it really even need a vent? On tractorbynet, guys are claiming the gc gets the seal leaking when the vent is blocked, but I'm not sure about that.
@pondacres I would think it could be a contributing cause to a leak as pressure builds from the expanding fluid as it heats up. But I'm no engineer by any means.
Great video, thanks. Do you think the leakage would stop with SAE 90 gear oil? I have a 2003 BX 22 and i just changed the flud with the UDT fluid and it started to leak thru the seal. My BX 22 has 900 hours on the machine. Thanks from Seattle.
Thanks Mike, I would think it would have a good chance to stop the leak, being that it just started after changing the fluid.
In my opinion though, i would change the seal as 4qts of quality gear oil would be a shame to dump, if it doesn't stop the seep and you have to tear it down anyways.
Now if you don't feel comfortable doing the repair on the other hand it's worth a shot before paying the dealer to do it.
Hey Tyler, great video. I'm about to do the same job on my BX24 and have a question for you. I just came home from my kubota dealer after buying the seals, but they couldn't find a part number for that ball joint boot. They only found the entire linkage with the boot pre-installed. Do you happen to have that part number? Thx.
Thank you. Heres the link to the ones I used in this video. amzn.to/3PO9AGo
2” PVC coupler works great
Good deal!
Great job, putting the snap ring back on did not look easy. We need to do a axle rebuild on a Iseki TA530 soon which looks similar so it was good to see the process for taking the hub off, thanks
Thanks Joseph! Yes, thankfully the process was pretty straight forward! I'm sure you'll have it taken care of in no time at all! Thanks for tuning in!
Nice work- Kudos!
Thanks Steve! I appreciate the comment!
What did you spray after you took off the tire, but before draining?
Just some brake clean. Trying to get all the dirt and grit off before separating. If it wasn't so cold outside, I would have preferred to just wash it out good with water
Nice info.
Thank you
