Keep in mind that this is an unofficial implementation of PT in the form of modifications. Until Crapcom makes it official, the game will look unfinished because it was not created with PT in mind.
Since the game is a linear game and not open world, it will not necessarily be better with Path tracing, The artists can make the game look better with the vanilla light because in this game there is a specific static areas, In games there is something called "Level design" and how the game look is a part of the level design, The artist will apply lighting to an area to make sure everything line up almost perfectly, Path tracing will look always better in game like Cyberpunk 2077 but no in a linear game, unless the artist did a terrible job, and in RE4 the artists did great, that's why the game looks better with vanilla light.
The same with dead island 2... that game doesnt need ray tracing and path tracing, because the lighting is that good

it is not necessarily be better with Path tracing, which is because the path tracing mode is used as a ground truth reference for the artist to fine tune the final product visual, so it is already pretty close

Vanilla looks better because the game wasn't built for Pathtracing, so it's not going to blend well most of the time
Some parts it looks good but parts with a lot of lighting like 19:00 vanilla wins...
I feel games atm are made in mind with people "Not" using Path tracing..
I feel maybe newer games will take this into account so when you have path tracing on it wont look as bad as it did on this video...

Just gotta fix the High tech good looking graphics yet classic games still beat new games.. so fix that part....
It is as if path tracing added as a post process effect after the fog... which makes it look very bad on many occasion... something's definitely wrong...
It looks bad because the game wasn't made with fully dynamic lightning engine in mind, and many assets don't interact with light properly, because they didn't need to, like hair for example. Not every scene has actual light sources to be turned emissive by the mod. There's some geometry shenanigans happening. And while you can't see it on RUclips because of compression - the whole game becomes grainy as hell, because PT as it exists in REengine has no denoiser functionality.
This is a mod utilizing some code left over in the engine, forcibly turned on in a game not meant to use it, it will look wonky, because it would require modifying aspects of the game that buried too deep and are outside of modders control.
So... basically normal videogame ilumination looks way better in every aspect than the thing that is suposed to look superior to ray tracing

It's clearly not working properly, but if it were actually implemented correctly, this would look 1000 times better.
Just a reminder: Path Tracing is not the same thing as Ray Tracing. This game on Ray tracing looks sick.
The shadows looks so similar like irl but vanilla looks way better for me

This is what Nvidia Marketing Team is trying to sell us, no way, OG illumination looks miles better and clearer, out of Cyberpunk... PT is not that impressive. I'll stick to my RX 6800 for a way longer.
