  • Bobby Brown in 1989 won an Album of the Year Award (ST) for his debut solo album "Don't Be Cruel". The award presenters were Don King and Bobby's good friend, boxing legend Mike Tyson. In addition to Bobby's "Don't Be Cruel" album being nominated in that category, the 3 other nominees included: Bobby McFerrin for his album "Simple Pleasures, Al B. Sure! for his debut album "In Effect Mode" and Luther Vandross for his album "Any Love" The awards aired on April 13, 1989.
P.S. Bobby's song 'Rock Wit'cha' on the "Don't Be Cruel"' album is my favorite on the album....

What the hell is “macaroni to da bone”?!?! Don King is nuts

"Macaroni to the bone" is a phrase that seems to blend different idiomatic expressions and cultural references, but it doesn't have a widely recognized or standard meaning. However, breaking it down, we can make some educated guesses:
      1. **"Macaroni"**: In historical British slang, "macaroni" referred to someone who was excessively fashionable or stylish, often to the point of being ostentatious. This usage is famously referenced in the song "Yankee Doodle" with the line "stuck a feather in his cap and called it macaroni."
      2. **"To the bone"**: This part of the phrase usually means something that is thorough, complete, or deeply ingrained. For example, "chilled to the bone" means extremely cold.
Combining these, "macaroni to the bone" could imply someone who is deeply or thoroughly stylish and fashionable, embodying this characteristic at their core. However, without more context, this interpretation remains speculative, as the phrase isn't commonly used or widely recognized in mainstream language.

Soul Train could've replaced Bobby McFerrin either Terence Trent D'Arby or George Michael for the Best Male R&B/Urban Album category.

I must admit that hearing the song snippet in that category seemed a little off. I do remember the song doing very very well on pop radio and the Billboard Hot 100 charts, but I can't recall hearing it on R&B radio??

@@RestlessRick look it up on wikipedia. Soul Train coulda have George Michael's Faith or Terence Trent D'Arby's Hardline for R&B Album by a Male nomination.
I wish Soul Train added the reggae category in its prime.
