I have not had any issues with the Iron Rangers. The Vibram mini lug sole is more comfortable than the Nitrile cork sole. I have also seen many crew guys wearing them on set for tv shows and commercials and they are on their feet all day. A Moc Toe with a traction tred sole would be way more comfortable.
Did you find these ran big at all? I own these and feel like they’re larger than my other Moc toe RW’s. I also just got the green Alpine portage and feel like they’re also larger lol. I’ve heard some guys going down a full size in the Alpine so far.

I would love to buy a pair of the Red wing moc toe boots in Black Chrome but they are hard to find and are expensive if you can find them my next choice would be the Navy Portage. Have you ever compared the two colors?
@@CJCook Looks like I got lucky and found a pair of the R9075 in Black harness leather in my size a Schott. A really good price to ' boot'. Thanks again !!!
@@CJCook Right on. My first Red Wings ever were the Iron Ranger Charcoal R&T (8086). I only have 4 Red Wings at the moment, 2 of them are charcoal R&T...
Bradley Hanson I think Iron Rangers should be everyone’s first Red Wing. I am ready for my 2nd RW but am not sure how I feel about these type of Moc toes. I like my boots to make noise when the sole hits the pavement.
@@Orlanzepol123 Ha, well, I can't say I understand that noise requirement, but I do know that my upstairs neighbors must share your opinion as they wake me up when they get ready for work. The Moc Toes are significantly more comfortable for standing all day as the sole has some give and doesn't have a steel shank. I love the Rangers/Blacksmith/Beckman/Merchant, etc, but they feel like walking on wood compared to the crepe sole. I also found them to be pretty easy to break in with a merino wool sock.
Just bought some Mocs in black prairie, since black harness is discontinued. Out of the box and against black jeans the black prairie looks like a dark brown. I was going for the blacked out look. From your video your boots look more black than navy unless it’s the lighting. I guess it’s the woes of ordering online. Would you say the navy portage would be a better choice for a more blacked out look?
Hey CJ Happy New Year! 8859s inbound. Really don’t like the gold taslan laces. Suggestions for leather laces? Would you go with a leather that matches the welt or would you go for navy blue? Other? Thanks
Found light blue on amazon. Thanks for the suggestion. So...found a good deal on 8818s. I’m hesitant because I think they would be too similar to the 8859. Thinking maybe lodens or ir muleskinners to go with 8111 and 9060. Thoughts?
@@ericlee8437 I would go with the Lodens simply because they may not be around for a long time like the 8113s. Also, once you get tired of having the Traction Tred sole on the Lodens you can throw on a mini lug sole and SHINE!
Khan Morshed I don’t know what you mean. My question is if the 23 last is *true to size* . I know the 8 last isn’t *true to size* because I had to go down a half size.

Hey man, I got my first RW boots ever in 8890 style and i love the way it looks (but still breaking them in) do you recommend additional insole or just using whatever is already in the boot? also i a bit confused on what specific RW care product i should use to retain the look, extend life and protect the leather as ive read online that even RW branded products can cause the leather to change colors.
Congrats! I own the 8890s as well. When I first wore them I did not use an insole then I placed a half insole from Dr. Scholl's because I live in NYC and walk everywhere. As for care, I use Red Wing's All Natural Leather Conditioner. It does darker them at first but the color returns to them after several wears.

The 8859 have quite an impressive color in person. I would not say black/charcoal. I would say true navy. Red Wing came out with 8882 which they called Indigo. I tried them on in-store and found them too flashy for my taste. The 8859s are a perfect match.
