Hi, I love learning about this very sad story. It would have been so wonderful and a miracle for Catherine and her family and the village to have quads born in those days, and then to have to watch your beautiful baby's die one buy one then to loss you after two children and the man you love... I was wondering were is her grave? I think she should be put with her family now.. so Catherine can rest in peace ❤
I always think that when I hear these old stories. If someone wants to tell my story in 170 years it will go like this, she got up made breakfast, cleaned up, made lunch, cleaned up, made tea, cleaned up watched RUclips went to bed.
So two died at 4 days old and the other two died weeks later?? This photo clearly shows two at about 6 mo old but also two newborns. The timing and photos are off but nice drawn out story.
This popped up on my feed, and I am so glad I watched it. Such a sad story. A family blessed with 4 new babies, only to have them ripped away again a few days later along with the other children and father. So very sad. It's no wonder the mother took her life, driven mad with grief I dare say, bless her soul. After reading many stories where a suicide occurs, it would not surprise me if Margaret's body was passed out of the window of the house if that is where she was found, she would not have had the grace of going through the door. As for burial, she is most likely outside the graveyard, in unconsecrated ground since she committed the most heinous crime of suicide, and she would not be allowed to have a headstone as suicides were not allowed this privilege. Since we are now living in a different time, wouldn't it be wonderful to be able to locate her burial site, and place her with her family, with a headstone to mark her spot and the reason for her demise. Such a lovely video, great respect to you for showing us. Thank you.
How could anyone deny a poor mother in utter grief and despair who had lost her entire family , not to be buried with her family is beyond belief. How cruel, life was to her and death. Does anyone know where she is buried? Does she even have a headstone? My heart breaks for her. She should be reburied with her family. How cruel and vile so-called religion has been to so many people, past and present. May they all rest in everlasting peace xxx
I can't help thinking that ground-penetrating radar could locate her remains. At the very least, she should have a headstone. Imagine having to care for her entire dying family right after having given birth under extremely primitive conditions... She was a woman of strength and courage, but there are limits to both qualities. Poor lady lost everything in the end. She decided to follow her loved ones, rather than live without them... 😥

Absolutely breathtaking place. I traced my heritage back to Wales. The story of those quads is so heartbreaking. Margaret was so heartbroken she couldn’t bear to live any longer. Losing all 4 plus her first two children and husband. Hod rest her tortured soul 🙏🏻😢
My Dad was adopted, but we knew his birth parents and recently traced their ancestery to Wales. His mother was a Morgan from Glammorgan region. My 7th great grandfather Morgan Morgan was the first white family that settled and founded W, Virginia. His son Zackquill Morgan founded Morgantown, West Virginia and fought in the French Indian War and he was a Colonel in the Revolutionary War,
To have the miracle of naturally conceived quads who survived birth, only to die from a disease that ravaged this family is beyond tragic. This poor woman lost her children, one by one, then lost her husband. She lost everything and must have felt so overcome with pain and grief. May her soul rest in peace, along with all of her family who tragically died. They are all together, again, in heaven.
What a beautiful epitaph for the babies! How blessed to know that all will be United in the Resurrection! Despite the vicars attempt to exclude. Thank you for taking us where we cannot go. God bless you for being respectful .
Very sad a family wiped out like that 💔 unfortunately that was the case back in the 1800'S. Great video mate very well presented and respectfully done 👍
The amount of grief she had was terrible, losing her whole family, and living by herself would been horribly hard on her, god bless her, and hope they all have another life together to grow to be loved and cherished.
The absolute fury I felt when you said the vicar wouldn't allow that poor mum to be buried with her family. I don't care about the traditions or beliefs he had, absolutely shame on him for not using his discretion with grace. I hope his conscience caught up with him eventually.
It is the Lord who judges, not the vicar or any body else I am certain our creator would forgive her ‘sin ‘of suicidal death and reunite her with her husband and all the children .RIP the Hugh’s family. The days of Glory are waiting for you all.
Absolutely heart wrenching. Can’t image that Mother watching all her family pass. Even more upsetting is the church not burying her with her family. Thank you for sharing this story. I just found your channel. Will definitely subscribe. My Grandma was born in Wales and immigrated with my Grandfather and my Mom and two uncles to work in the coal mines of Alberta on the early 1900’s. So, I am very interested in the history of this beautiful land.
That poor mother loosing her whole family like that, she was heartbroken bless her god would of understood her pain,I'm glad that don't happen no more not giving them a proper funeral R.I.P Margret ❤
Whatva tragic story, the Wife and Mother must have felt, there was nothing to live for, after the loss of her entire family. What a heart of steel, the Vicer must have had. Never the less she'll have been reunited with her family in Heaven, I'm sure of that. 🎉 R.I.P.
Wasn't up to the vicar, suicide was against the law at that time. Those who committed suicide were not allowed to be buried in consecrated ground. This was how it was, you have to remember this is history.
Thank you for telling this tragic story. That poor woman was left bereft. They lie overlooking the beautiful land where they lived.🙏 God bless them all.
Suicide was viewed very differently back then and he was being a Christian by not allowing her be buried with her kids- it’s still seen very much of a taboo subject now a days
Poor family. Grief must have been unimaginable. Inside house feels heavy, sad. Her body should be at the side of her husband and children who she pushed through her own tremendous pain. I ask her soul to be free from purgatory. No one should judge her.
Such a sad story, thank you for sharing this with us, If I was you I would get a Facebook group going from Wales asking for donations to get Hannah body exhumed, and buried with her family. This would be the best thing ever.
I was thinking the same thing! Poor mum being separated from all her babies and husband at such an awful time. I hope they know where poor Margaret is actually buried. I'd love to go and lay some flowers for her to show she is still remembered ❤
What a beautiful place so very sad what happened to this poor family 😢it's no wonder the mother unalived herself can you imagine the grief and pain she had to endure?. To add insult to injury she was treated like an outcast! shame on that vicar. Thank you for telling us and remembering this family 👏👏👏👏
'Unalived herself' ? What kind of language is that ? The poor woman took her own life because of the harsh and tragic realities of her life. You denigrate and neutralise her experience by using simpering meaningless words. She killed herself . It's a harsh and violent thing to do to oneself, however achieved, in the face of unspeakable grief and tragedy. Respect the full weight of her situation and action. Don't diminish it with anodyne non-words.
I just found your channel. I enjoy your accent very much. I could listen to your story telling all day. A very beautiful area. We don't hear much about Wales. The story is chilling and so very sad. Suicide is so misunderstood and wrongly judged. I have always thought that we must consider what someone has gone through in their lives. In the North American indigenous community there is a saying like this..." Before you judge someone, walk a mile in their moccasins". Thank you very much for sharing this tragedy. Excellent narrative.
Thank you for this video. How terribly sad, one cannot imagine the grief the poor mother suffered and to be denied a burial next to her beloved family is cruel beyond words!

My heart is broken, such a sad story about this family.. Beautiful place even watching the video feeling of great sadness inside the house.. Only God knows the despair and heart of this mother, God give her a good place with her family, she wanted so much by your side.If one day I could visit this place I would like to take flowers to this family and say prayers for everyone...
Absolutely fantastic video. A sad story, but retelling it keeps it alive and not forgotten. Although only drawing breath for a few days, we still remember them, and that helps them. Well edited with the drone.
A Mother with no help caring for 6 crying and sick babies, that alone is a heavy load but to have to bury each plus a spouse was too much😢 Curious how they contracted the illness living so remote. Sad story, Thank you for sharing .
It is a beautiful remote area now, but back in the day it was the "wild west " of Wales. It was a busy lead and siver mining area, dating back to the Roman invasion and before. With the decline of the industry many left to work in the Coal mines of South Wales and many to North America. Including my own family.
What a wonderful but sad Story, Quads in those days was an amazing to have all four living until sickness came. Thank You enjoyed the history, surprised the house is left vacant.
So very sad . My Grandmother was a Hughes. I was born in Wales. Came to S Africa after l was married. I remember my Grandmother showed me where they buried outside the the Church. It was so sad. Thanks for telling us about the story. Very well done. Take care. Xx
💔💔💔 Heart wrenching story of this tragic family, especially as they lived in such a beautiful place. I know West Wales very well as we have been holidays there since I was very small, all around Ceredigion. Loved you presentation and drone footage too. I felt like I was there. It was awful that Margaret the mother was not allowed to be buried with her family. Very hard, strict times. Pleased this popped up on my feed! I love social history of ordinary people.
My great grandparents lost 5 in a diptheria epidemic in Ohio in the 1880s. Viewings were held in the parlor then and visiting children would run about near the casket, exposing them to germs. My great grandparents came back from burying one child to find two more had died while they were out. My great grandmother could not sit at the dining table for many years as the empty places caused her to be overcome with grief. There is a tall oblisk in the cemetery for the family, with those five childrens' death dates all within a short time of each other.
Those babies look about six months old in that photo, so maybe it was “within one year there were seven dead.” I wonder how they looked after them. Imagine all those nappies, soiled clothes, towels. The feeding they’d need, about twenty-four feeds a day! And the mother survived all of them, even after feeding the babies, nursing the sick and cooking and washing! They built em tough in those days! A tiny house for eight to live in. It’s been well preserved. I’m glad I live in todays world, we can survive almost any Illness today, we’re cooled in the heat and warmed in the cold and have so many needs taken care of and in comfort. Such a sad, sad story!😥

My family roots are in East TN, USA. Up in the mountains are so many old headstones and a few are just a rock as a marker. So many Confederate soldiers passed through these mountains. I have many family members buried in the cemetery with the latest to be put to rest was my sweet Mama with Daddy. Its a pretty good drive for me to visit but it is so beautiful. @@steventhomas9203 You're right. I looked into it a bit and found that it was actually against the law to commit suicide.
That poor lady. Nursed and saw all her babies and husband die. I no wonder she took her own life That vicar should have been more forgiving 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔😢
She is forgiven in the eyes of God ……. Bless their souls ❤
Poor Margaret, what grief she suffered
To have the miracle of naturally conceived quads who survived birth, only to die from a disease that ravaged this family is beyond tragic. This poor woman lost her children, one by one, then lost her husband. She lost everything and must have felt so overcome with pain and grief. May her soul rest in peace, along with all of her family who tragically died. They are all together, again, in heaven.
Its a wonder anyone survived in those cold, damp, old houses 😢poor family 😢❤❤❤
What a beautiful epitaph for the babies!
How blessed to know that all will be United in the Resurrection! Despite the vicars attempt to exclude.
Thank you for taking us where we cannot go. God bless you for being respectful .
What a beautiful country Wales is! I live in California USA, where it is dry. We don’t see much green, except in spring. This is a sad story 😢
Thanks for watching. Love California 🇺🇸
Very sad a family wiped out like that 💔 unfortunately that was the case back in the 1800'S. Great video mate very well presented and respectfully done 👍
Thank you GV
The amount of grief she had was terrible, losing her whole family, and living by herself would been horribly hard on her, god bless her, and hope they all have another life together to grow to be loved and cherished.
The absolute fury I felt when you said the vicar wouldn't allow that poor mum to be buried with her family. I don't care about the traditions or beliefs he had, absolutely shame on him for not using his discretion with grace. I hope his conscience caught up with him eventually.
Thanks for watching
It is the Lord who judges, not the vicar or any body else
I am certain our creator would forgive her ‘sin ‘of suicidal death and reunite her with her husband and all the children .RIP the Hugh’s family. The days of Glory are waiting for you all.
I’m sure he would forgive her ! after killing her whole family ?
Glory? Where was God for this family?
@@justjane2070 Jesus didn't kill her family! Disease did
@fionasaunders7646 amen ❤🙏🏻✝️❤
Very cruel times, a devastating story....❤ from Ireland
This could have happened in Ireland too and today with modern medicine they could have survived 😢
Thank you very much
That poor mother loosing her whole family like that, she was heartbroken bless her god would of understood her pain,I'm glad that don't happen no more not giving them a proper funeral R.I.P Margret ❤
Whatva tragic story, the Wife and Mother must have felt, there was nothing to live for, after the loss of her entire family. What a heart of steel, the Vicer must have had. Never the less she'll have been reunited with her family in Heaven, I'm sure of that. 🎉 R.I.P.
Ye holier than thou as they say then all the sins they have committed makes me angry.
Thank you
Unbelievable the vicar wouldn't allow the mum to be buried with her kids, he must have had a heart of stone and not to Christian.
Suicide was viewed very differently back then and he was being a Christian by not allowing her be buried with her kids- it’s still seen very much of a taboo subject now a days
🇨🇦just suffering. Horrible. You see the hardness of life evidenced in the graveyards.
@teresacorrigan3076 if I had any say I'd rebury that poor woman with her kids , you'd think someone would have done it years ago.
He would have been severely judged by God
@@stephenhowlett6345 they are together now in heaven. God has great compassion
Poor family. Grief must have been unimaginable. Inside house feels heavy, sad. Her body should be at the side of her husband and children who she pushed through her own tremendous pain. I ask her soul to be free from purgatory. No one should judge her.
Her soul is absolutely not in purgatory.
How do you know!?@@talex1625
Such natural beauty in a place of tragedy. Thank you for respecting the ringing of the bell.
Thank you
Such a sad story 😢 must have been hard to survive under such conditions. Poor mother 😢 her grief was too much to bear. Thanks for sharing 👍
Such a sad story, thank you for sharing this with us, If I was you I would get a Facebook group going from Wales asking for donations to get Hannah body exhumed, and buried with her family. This would be the best thing ever.
Thank you
I was thinking the same thing! Poor mum being separated from all her babies and husband at such an awful time. I hope they know where poor Margaret is actually buried. I'd love to go and lay some flowers for her to show she is still remembered ❤
@@only.me.loulou You a softy like me with a big heart, I would love to lay flowers as well.♥
Good idea
What a beautiful place so very sad what happened to this poor family 😢it's no wonder the mother unalived herself can you imagine the grief and pain she had to endure?. To add insult to injury she was treated like an outcast! shame on that vicar. Thank you for telling us and remembering this family 👏👏👏👏
Thank you
'Unalived herself' ? What kind of language is that ? The poor woman took her own life because of the harsh and tragic realities of her life. You denigrate and neutralise her experience by using simpering meaningless words. She killed herself . It's a harsh and violent thing to do to oneself, however achieved, in the face of unspeakable grief and tragedy. Respect the full weight of her situation and action. Don't diminish it with anodyne non-words.
Please don't denigrate others. Especially here, especially this story. We are all different. Bless. @@judithcressey1682
@judithcressey1682 RUclips gets mad so people use subtle words to skirt that, its not an act of disrespect
@Bella-qu5pf I'm aware but my comment is still up (so far).
Thank you so much
Meant to say Blessings for the New Year to you and loved ones from North Carolina USA ❤@@LTJones
Thank you for this video. How terribly sad, one cannot imagine the grief the poor mother suffered and to be denied a burial next to her beloved family is cruel beyond words!
This is the most sad story. Such a lovely family living in their big home ...and the precious children. So blessed in this gorgeous countryside. The wife should be with her family. God rest her soul.
Thank you
My heart is broken, such a sad story about this family..
Thank you Jason
They were doing well to have had a cottage that large, and those headstones. Definitely a sad story.
The scenery is just gorgeous!
Thanks for watching
A Mother with no help caring for 6 crying and sick babies, that alone is a heavy load but to have to bury each plus a spouse was too much😢 Curious how they contracted the illness living so remote. Sad story, Thank you for sharing .
Thank you
It is a beautiful remote area now, but back in the day it was the "wild west " of Wales.
Its pretty crazy that she carried and delivered healthy quads at home in the 1850s just to lose them all, so.sad.
Very sad story of the Hughes Family.Their family home is in a beautiful location. Thank you LT will remember this sad story!

What a tragic story lt beautiful little cottage so well done lt thankyou ❤️😊👍🏻
Thanks CD
My great grandparents lost 5 in a diptheria epidemic in Ohio in the 1880s. Viewings were held in the parlor then and visiting children would run about near the casket, exposing them to germs. My great grandparents came back from burying one child to find two more had died while they were out. My great grandmother could not sit at the dining table for many years as the empty places caused her to be overcome with grief. There is a tall oblisk in the cemetery for the family, with those five childrens' death dates all within a short time of each other.
What a beautiful house bit of the track but amazing the little house still in good condition most probably haunted
Hi from Australia 🇦🇺
So sad I had a tears 😢 in my eyes so sad RIP Hughes family 💜🕊️
Thanks for watching 🇦🇺

I absoulity love to visit old burial sites, something about them brings me that much closer to God. Stay safe Ya'all and blessings from me to you!

What a well put together video. My family came from llandanwg and my 3xgreat granparents had about 21 children back in the 1850s. 5 sets of twins and the 11 singlets. By 1865 only 5 survived the rest perishing to typhoid. Very sad times for welsh families then one of the descendents was Meredydd evans folk singer and philosopher. He was my great grans cousin ..
