- To celebrate LGBTQ+ history month here in the UK, this episode is dedicated to the LGBTQ+ community worldwide!

Historically, the LGBTQ+ community have shared a very special relationship with fashion and as early as the 18th century, fashion and style were central to establishing the identity of emerging gay subcultures.
Looking at the history of fashion through a queer lens and exploring the aesthetics and sartorial choices made by LGBTQ+ people, we can see how central these subcultures have been to forming ideas of mainstream fashion.
From Charles James to Alexander McQueen, many of the greatest fashion designers of the 20th century have been queer.
Originally used as a derogatory term for gay, nowadays, the word Queer has been positively reclaimed and represents so much more, encompassing a multitude of identities from demiboy to non-binary to androgynous.
Queer fashion is fashion in its truest form - it is all about the clothing, the individual body which inhabits it and the message of identity which it comes to represent.

Well Scott I see your still looking fabulous! Being with you from the beginnings of your channel I’ve noticed that you yourself have a bit of a fashion journey. You seem so much more relaxed letting your fashion sense shine through, Bravo! You know darn well those women utilizing those milliners and dress makers went to them for fashion, friendship, juicy gossip and style inspiration! Somethings never change,lol, any woman lucky enough to have/had a gay friend knows this. Sometimes I think it was plain and simple jealousy that made “straight” men so anti-gay, and that’s why lesbians took less flack. FYI I was a hairdresser back in the day so gay friends, duh, and I also a very fashion conscience gay son. It is remarkable to me that you even have to do this special episode, I guess I just always took it for granted that fashion designers were gay, I’m sure the rarity is the straight one. Sorry for the ramble, again another great episode that taught me somethings new!👍👏👏👏🌹🌈❤️

Being stuck in lockdown, I’ve not had the chance to get dressed up for shows, events, private views etc and so I like to get dressed up for the camera and my Fashion &... family! Although the fashion community is at large accepting of LGBTQ+ people we still have a way to go and it’s important to highlight these issues, especially during LGBTQ+ history month. P.s. I come from a long line of hairdressers on my mum’s side of the family! All my aunties, female cousins and second cousins were all hairdressers! (The men were miners - stereotypical or what!?! Hahaha)
