Can you explain some of what Jonathan Ross said during the interview? I'm not an English speaker and I have a hard time understanding british English :(
funny how ross is making a big fuzz about jarvis' clothers when in fact he's the one wearing the weirdest, most awful ensemble ever. and being smug about never having had to buy clothes at oxfam? booh.
Ross is walking ego trip, he's convinced he is wonderful, he was the most awful interviewer and the likes of Parkinson and Wogan were miles better. Even Harty was better, and that's saying something.
O C Neither bright nor knowledgeable, Ross makes cheap jibes at his guests’ expense, but lacks the sense of humour to get away with it i.e. he just seems nasty, BUT... I think you’re wrong about his ego; he’s actually quite insecure. That’s why he tries to put guests down, foolishly hoping he will seem better by comparison. The sad thing is that some folk are gullible enough to fall for media hype about Ross. As we see though, some guests make him bearable!
I though Mr. Cocker did a fine job at subtly bouncing back the host's rude comment, he mentioned how the lame British store the host shops in has colour coded racks.. "red, purple", said Mr. Cocker.. the host himself was wearing purple, it seemed to me that was no accident
I can understand his comment about the "reedy" sound but he's totally wrong about it being awful! Some of my favourite musical instruments are "reedy".
I think 99% of people would have been offended at these rude and inconsiderate questions but Jarvis being able to just roll with it makes him look even more charming and adorable.
He doesn't care what other people think about him,and that is cool,he thinks for himself and formulates his own opinions and outlook on life, not like the plastic retards that overwhelm us with crap.
Aww i remember watching this show with my husband to be in the small flat above the chip shop in Kensal green!!! Roaches on the wall as well!!! Ha ha what a nostalgia!
Actually, I really like his music pulp are fecking brilliant and as for his voice it is quite reedy and stuff but I quite like it like that. I don't buy their CDs to listen to his face.
Yeah I love that one too. Ok, this is my favourite ever TV Jarvis interview! I love it because it's just Jarvis being himself, without putting on a front.
Loud annoying people tend to do well on radio and sometimes they move over to TV. I mean look at Chris Evans (not the American actor) his whole career is based around being obnoxious.
He seems one of the most intelligent people to be on TV. I'd love it if he did a "serious" show about something. Him and Brian Cox could be the poster "dads" for floppy haired blokes over 40! A remarkable dude by all accounts.
Ross is trying to be funny, whereas Jarvis is naturally funny. Ross doesn't understand if you just ask Jarvis normal questions and chat to him, his humour comes out without trying.
Well that depends Most hipsters are okay don't get me wrong But on a Tv show in america They interviewed some hipsters and they made up bands saying they were just not popular and the hipsters said they had heard them It is those pricks that I and alot of other people hate
Herty Jansen van Rensburg he has every right to, I’m just curious why he’s wearing second hand clothes if he was rich enough to buy new clothes? I guess it’s his style
I think, at first it was a way to distinguish himself from his contemporaries, than it became a cultural movement: Hobo Chic. He makes it work, it’s an awesome look.
LouisKing995 Yeah mabey if they have moved to Sheffield from some where else but Jarvis was born and bred there. People from Sheffield do NOT talk like this.
Mate listen, he still has the Sheffield tinge to his voice but just a middle class version of it. You get "posh" people everywhere but honestly he doesn't sound that posh, he just sounds like a middle-class northerner
LouisKing995 Im from Huddersfield just up the road from Sheffield. I worked concreting the car parks at the Medowhall Shopping centre for two and a half years. I worked with lads from Sheffield every day and had relatives from Sheffield when I was growin up. I am well aware of how some one from Sheffield sounds and Jarvis does not sound anything like it !
Walt Jabsco I don't care were you worked. I'd be more than willing to bet a million pounds that there are middle class people from Sheffield who sound just like that. Sheffield isn't some exclusive working class fortress. As I said, you get middle class people pretty anywhere
God, is this just what they call British wit or is the host covertly bullying Mr. Cocker? This host appeared to be doing his best to slide in the biting remarks.
Jonathan Ross asking jarvis, if he likes being a tramp? Jarvis dresses how he likes to dress, i see nothing wrong with it. Why do these celebs think all celebs have to have high fashion? Some of the things jonathen has wore over those years were absurd, and if thats fashion, give us simple clothes Jonathen patronising jarvis, with growing up were you not able to afford clothes, loads of kids growing up in uk did not have rich parents, and grew up with what clothes there parents could afford, and its not something thats funny, it was common for kids of 1980s to be dirt poor, and have parents who could not afford expensive clothes. Pulp was a good band, but jarvis was not really a celebrity Good for jarvis cocker for speaking out against the child molester michael jackson, no one else in music industry had the guts too. That took alot of guts, as michael jackson was someone heavily protected by the american music industry.
Jarvis accidentally invented hipsters but no one ever got it right but him.
Hipsters existed way back in the 50's. Bob Dylan was called a hipster in the mid 60's. That term was not invented in the 2000's.
Club Astro Transcendental Motor well let’s not be a smart ass we all know he/she means current day hipsters 🤦♂️
@@cactaceous It wasn’t invented for the 50s/60s either, it came into usage during the 30s within jazz circles.
@@merlinmediagroup There you go.
@@cactaceous obviously he was referencing modern day hipster style.
My dad always used to call Jonathan Ross a wanker
Now I know why
Your Dad was very astute.
What's a ranker?
So true... Jarvis dealt with him beautifully!! One is humble and witty... Other quite the opposite.
Can you explain some of what Jonathan Ross said during the interview? I'm not an English speaker and I have a hard time understanding british English :(
@@agustinamansur5665 nothing worth taking note really. Just him being as pompous and arrogant as usual.
Jarvis is the coolest guy. Wears his emotions openly and doesn’t seem to hide them at all. Awkward and funny. I love him
“I haven’t watched Harry Potter.”
Little did he know he’d be playing the lead vocalist of the band at the Yule ball three movies later.
Wow.
funny how ross is making a big fuzz about jarvis' clothers when in fact he's the one wearing the weirdest, most awful ensemble ever. and being smug about never having had to buy clothes at oxfam? booh.
You know, when Jonathan Ross went on Room 101, he put in his own dress sense :)
This is the dude who made fun of Thom Yorke's hair and clothes when in fact he has no sense of style himself
I though Mr. Cocker did a fine job at subtly bouncing back the host's rude comment, he mentioned how the lame British store the host shops in has colour coded racks.. "red, purple", said Mr. Cocker.. the host himself was wearing purple, it seemed to me that was no accident
Always down to earth and true to himself..A constant breath of fresh Air. Keep Well Jarvis.
Oh Jarvis said he thinks his voice is awful??? OMG, he is so wrong! I LOVE his voice, I find it sooo sexy, polite and charming :)
I can understand his comment about the "reedy" sound but he's totally wrong about it being awful!
Some of my favourite musical instruments are "reedy".
'I have a mobile phone'. Oh, the early 2000s...
@Arthur Morgan, Formerly 4th Chairman I hope not!
"I can log on"
He's so witty and down to earth
A perfectly honest combination
I think 99% of people would have been offended at these rude and inconsiderate questions but Jarvis being able to just roll with it makes him look even more charming and adorable.
Wrong. It's our British sense of humour.
I was just thinking exactly that.
I've always liked JC, I get he's not everyone's kind of musician but I've always thought he was quite cool in his own way
He’s just himself - there seems very little artifice. That’s always cool, in my book 👍
He doesn't care what other people think about him,and that is cool,he thinks for himself and formulates his own opinions and outlook on life, not like the plastic retards that overwhelm us with crap.
He's very cool. Totally genuine, no pretentiousness like a lot of his peers, and smart and funny.
The love I have for Jarvis is concerning.
Not only is Jarvis a fucking amazing musician, he's also hilarious! All around brilliant guy!
Adore Jarvis Cocker, he’s a national treasure, on the other hand Jonathon Ross is a national wanker!
I have always liked Jarvis' humour. =)
Awww he looks so annoyed it's adorable!
I love him more than I love my boyfriend
Abi Buxton ...dump that boyfriend of yours. That’s fucked up lol
i don't blame you sis
I also love him more than your boyfriend
@Gehn Saavedro I'll let myself out
Lol
outsmarts Jonathan Ross to the point of embarrassment. Love JC
Jarvis Cocker is a cool bloke, I'm sure he thinks coolness is shite, that's what makes him cool.
Jarvis is a legend
A good genuine human being in fairness.
Aww i remember watching this show with my husband to be in the small flat above the chip shop in Kensal green!!! Roaches on the wall as well!!! Ha ha what a nostalgia!
JARVIS IS SO CUTE AND HERMITTY ❤️
He has no talent, you just fancy him.....crap voice...
Actually, I really like his music pulp are fecking brilliant and as for his voice it is quite reedy and stuff but I quite like it like that. I don't buy their CDs to listen to his face.
Lets agree to disagree......xHe wouldnt make it through the 1st phase of XFactor.....
Personally I don't like X factor much so yeah I'm happy with agreeing to disagreeing.
Kieran darragh he wouldnt be seen near x-factor, his talent is he writes music. You dont headline glastonbury having no talent.
Yeah I love that one too. Ok, this is my favourite ever TV Jarvis interview! I love it because it's just Jarvis being himself, without putting on a front.
I think this is my favourite ever Jarvis interview.
I remember when you had to “log on” to the internet
"I think you look gweaaat" 2:20
Thank you!!
How did Ross ever get a career?
Yeah I was wondering the same, shit happends I guess & BOOOM! he was born.
I want to see him on the Graham Norton Show so bad.
Why haven't this happened yet? From a curious new fan of Jarvis and pulp! Make it happen!
OMG he actually sounds like his singing voice. That's pretty damn rare.
I’m pleased this is British television
Flash forward to 2022 and I NEED to know the thrift shops he goes to 😭
I love jarvis cocker's pants
He's funny
Very underrated is Jarvis
Very agree I does
After listen to this...I am sure that God is British......What a Masterpiece
I so miss there Saturday morning show on radio 2 Jr and Andy... so funny 😂
I think like everyone he can't believe the status he has achieved.
"I know where to find ladies."
Tha men is God.
This guy's a total weirdo. And I totally approve that :-D
Ross talking about style with a shirt like that.
I really like JC. Cool dude. I like Michael Jackson too but I think Jarvis was right that night running on stage.
Same, but I find that running on stage funny amd hilarious. 😂😂
How have I only just found this? :o AWWW isn't he cute
I want to know if Jonathan Ross apologised to Jarvis
for this interview!
“I’m not beewig owwable ann sarcaswic”
Shaggy in the flesh.

Love the chilly t-shirt
Oh my god love Jarvis! Whenever I see him it’s like looking in the mirror. We’re sooooooooo alike!
"I'm down with it"
He always seems like a grumpy teenager.
Poo
Funny how when he spoke about cloves I got a whiff of clove, strange :/
Harry Potter is mentioned here!!!!!!
Friday 21st December 2001
It's more the audience who are being idiots here, JR and Jarv are friends.
Yeah, they laughed when he said the prison windows looked out on the shoppers. Nice...........
Jarvis keeping it cool despite a clown, with invisible makeup on, interviewing him.
(And that was a long time coming, esp after the hard time he was having trying to not be himself)
Bless him he is so original and down to earth....do you know how old he is hear? he doesn't look a day over 30....xxxxx
vivaldi -ett I think he was 30 ish or 40 ish
He was 37 I think
Sophie Ellis Bextor.

Nope,
to me the one with Stephen Merchant is the one on top for me.

Jarvis is Mr cool
PENTONVILLE MY SECOND HOME WHEN I WAS YOUNGER
Jonathan Ross is a doorknob
Ross had no idea how to handle Jarvis, who's witty and thought through approach flummoxed him a little
Ross is trying to be funny, whereas Jarvis is naturally funny. Ross doesn't understand if you just ask Jarvis normal questions and chat to him, his humour comes out without trying.
Whut da.. No "playing us out"?
I don't think Jonathon Ross was being insulting in this at all. I'm not a fan of Ross but I think he was genuinely curious.
0:15 sassy!
is this the real JC?
From the opening jab about the glasses and the wipers, Ross shows that his reputation as a grade A tosser was never going to be challenged
he is cute and talented why i cant fancy him u ppl ew
Jarvis got that testify probably in Spain
Testify? - that T-Shirt.
It brings to mind 'Jamon Jamon' 1992 film/movie. See Wikipedia: Osborne bull.
What a jerk is that host? He's horrible jesus, what's his problem?
Well that depends
Most hipsters are okay don't get me wrong
But on a Tv show in america They interviewed some hipsters and they made up bands saying they were just not popular and the hipsters said they had heard them
It is those pricks that I and alot of other people hate
When a banana interviews a peach.
why does he take his clothes off?

Здравствуйте я люблю его до свидания
жиза! вот где найти похожего фрика......
The set looked really shit at the start.
Ross makes himself look completely out of touch
Original hipster
Why does/did Jarvis wear second-hand clothing when he was pretty successful at this point??
Why shouldn't he
Herty Jansen van Rensburg he has every right to, I’m just curious why he’s wearing second hand clothes if he was rich enough to buy new clothes? I guess it’s his style
I think, at first it was a way to distinguish himself from his contemporaries, than it became a cultural movement: Hobo Chic. He makes it work, it’s an awesome look.
Because he's not a consumerist idiot.
Because success doesn't mean you have to buy stuff to validate it
Jarvis is great but why does he put that posh accent on???? Hes from Sheffield isn't he?????
you get posh people from sheffield
LouisKing995 Yeah mabey if they have moved to Sheffield from some where else but Jarvis was born and bred there. People from Sheffield do NOT talk like this.

Ain't nottin wrong wit being a hipster ;-P

Jarvis is soooo hipster
Oh dear what shit
찌질이
Who is Jarvis cocker?!? Not interested to know him.. Lol
But he speaks so highly of you, strange little nobody that you are...😂
Yet you asked
I find him a little creepy
I can’t stand Pulp for some reason?
That’s great, no one is forcing you to watch this
Pulp is intelligent music
