The inspections are always my favorite part. You all are so lucky Matt does such good work that passes inspection.
Love the inspector's music!
Too funny
In a world of chaos this channel is always a place of calm and joy. Thank You. Not to mention great work and craftsmanship.
I clear my schedule, get my La Colombe vanilla coffee and perch on the sofa.
Matt makes everything look so simple and straightforward. A sign of a true craftsman.
Thanks for the regular updates.
When I first started watching Duracell I had no idea of Matts skill set. But as I have been learning Matt has not only a great skill set as a builder but a good understanding through his experience as a sailor of what is needed to build a comfortable and safe cruising boat and the work ethic to see it through in a timely manner. I learn from every video. Thanks Matt and janni for making these videos for us.
A boat having a Catscan, great, you just need a retriever to write the Lab report
They are not cheap, but thoose inspectors we can t live without them 😍😍😍😍
Compared to canine inspectors, the felines are quite a bit more economical, at least as far as care and feeding, if not inspection fees! And they are very thorough (16:42) !
Longest boat building YT series… Aladino and Matt build a catamaran. Lol. the most seaworthy, comfortable, Aesthetically desirable, attention to detail crafts work found on the Tube.
Inspector has completed her tasks! Now get back to work Duracell team! 😂🤣👍👍🐈🐈
Matt makes this fiberglass job look so easy!! But having watched all of these videos I do realize that he has a ton of skill and experience. The final product always looks amazing!! Thanks for the instruction and production of these videos.
Somebody needs to tell Matt that a wood chisel is not the best tool to smear glue with. But then again, he said he was not a wood worker. If you want to loose the edge of a chisel, use it as a screwdriver.
What a very pleasing video to watch. Great camera work! Matt, your designs are so simple and functional! The inspection scene was just plain wonderful. Always great progress and we look forward to next week.
Nice job Matt! I must have raised them wrong because I have 2 cats and a dog and all they do is lay around the house demanding food ... "Where is my hamburger and kibble?" "Get off the couch Mom, we want our shrimp now!" "We are bored, throw some treats for us to catch!" Some might suggest there has been a failure to launch them into the world to earn a wage. As always, seeing The Inspector on the job is a joy.
Thank you for the comedy relief. You gave me a good laugh! Matt, it was like you were channeling Bob Newhart with your call to the inspector. 😂
Thanks for sharing your wonderful adventures. I love seeing how you figure out each new project. Thanks for bringing us along. 👏
The inspector "charging" a hefty bribe was the only reason you weren't forced to start from scratch with an even more elaborate vacuum bag - able design!
High stakes, high stress environment - glad it's over.
Shout out to the editor as usual - easily overlooked while enjoying these delicious treats.
hahaha i love this scene with the inspector!
I love that the inspector has a theme song!! Very thorough 😂
“…when things go wrong….”, Matt prepares and cares for his family. We all knew that. Great stuff guys. Hahahahahahahah, that darn inspector.
I think it is always a good idea to offer the inspector coffee whenever he arrives. Nice job on the dorade boxes.
Le Paws sticking her head in the hole had me in stitches!
That has to be one of the more thorough inspections.
I feel as though i arrived at this channel knowing nothing about boat building, but after watching from the start i could build a boat, learn to sail and travel the world. Thank you Matt to you and your family.
😂😂😂the call to the inspector the hammer! 😂😂
Great work, Matt, Janni, and inspector LePawz.Looks brilliant guys.
The craftmanship is tally ho level. Genuinely really impressed.
That inspector is one tough cookie. She don't miss a thing.😂
Love this channel and always look forward to Wednesday. Inspector skit was amazing!
Oh, the hammer and pliers on the Inspector's vest are priceless! However, if such a high price is to be commanded, one would think the Inspector would not leave tools lying around the work area ... 😁
I am absolutely LOVING the music/glassing sequence on the first dorade box. It feels so dramatic/urgent like Matts making some kind of smuggling setup or something.
Also, HUGE plus one for the Carbon Dorades.
Another Master class from Matt, lovely work on the boxes, they look super!! Great to see the inspector appreciated the craftsmanship as well lol 😂 Anyhow sending good energy from the tropics....Neil😊😊☘☘
I've been following you both since the beginning & have to say I love how you incorporated 'The Inspector' into your videos, this one was classic!
Waking the Inspector up!!! very brave of you.
One thing to consider to seal the dorade tube into the salon is a plumbers test cap. I see the others will be sealed with a threaded plug. I know there are rubber inspection seals used to pressure test a run of pipe or tube for leaks in smaller sizes than you have (4"?). They may also have your size. It would also be easy to make a tapered wooden plug.
Another great episode!
The air into the main cabin will be nice, a bit of cross wind can keep it cooler. Great video 2x👍
Excellent ! Love seeing the inspector get it right. More Cat.
The inspector bit at the end was priceless
I think I like watching you fiberglass better than most of the other work. The glass really brings everything together.
Ok... So now I understand how any trapped water will be released. Sorry for the dumb question from last week. You've done a 1st class job on this...
It's great you're considering making your own vent cowls. You'll have a chance to incorporate a bug screen, something I have to construct with difficulty on mine. The screen here (FL) has to be outside to keep wasps from making mud dauber nests inside the dorades. Fun things. A big Thanks to the Inspector for keeping you guys on your toes.
Love the inspector !! lol 🐈
Love the Inspector using the hammer to check out the work.😂
I like that you added that you made the boxes overly complicated. They might be, but they are well thought out and will work great!!
Really nice ventilation flow pattern for the Dorade boxes. That project came out great!
I feel like the boat is actually finished but we are forced to wait While watching all the builds. These days people just want to skip to the end reveal. Love these build videos. Keep it up!
The boat is definitely not finished. 😂We are just one week ahead of our audience
Lovely episode (as always), thanks for sharing the journey of expert craftsmanship and filmmaking with the rest of us 🙏
Liked the cat inspector part. Very tongue and cheek.
Oh the dreadedinspection! 😂😂
Great stuff, easy to watch..I get amazed reading the comments where people are shocked to see a man with skills..
Steady progress. Really looking forward to seeing the boat painted.
Man you guys both work so hard and diligently on this lovely boat...
The boxes came out really nicely. Thanks for the diagrams as always.
I shudder to think how much money is going into this re-fit... You guys are fortunate to have access to the funds and the space to be able to do this project.
I think it's brilliant to install the dorade boxes in the backstop support at the mast.
great video
Love them seagull scoopers. ❤. Matt, I have worked in manufacturing for over 30 yrs in Aerospace and semiconductor and just want to tip my hat at the production scaled methodology that you implement in your build…the steps in creating the drain holes, the hinges and the chainplates. 🤌🏼. The pace of this refit it pretty astonishing (big credit to you’re mother) ❤. Your wife, mom, cat and handful of friends..great team. Can’t wait for paint😊
Great job guys ! nice workmanship as usual , and also great filming =) have a good one !
love the inspector!!!
The inspector is back!!!
At this point I pledge to sign on as crew for passage around Cape Horn. You are going to do it, just a matter of time and I trust those scuppers because of the amount of glue and the initial precision in the through deck cut. I am sure both Shackleton and the Inspector approve.
Haha love the inspector...looks like all is okay.
That is just too funny calling the inspector. Glad you added some hilarity to hear makes it even more interesting lol.
Glad you had a laugh mimi☺️
I appreciated the inspector scene, very good, I shall also approve your work because of this. 👍🏼
I lost track of your channel somehow, so glad I found it again. Boat is looking amazing!
welcome back!
Looked like a very competent and well experienced inspector!
Smiling all day lone. 😸
Nice inspection and craftsmanship! 👏
Amazing editing! Love the inspector ❣️
My last boat had plenty of dorades but as I’m sure you know nothing can touch a forehatch windscoop in the tropics when at anchor.
A great episode as always... your boat building skills and storytelling & editing skills are really superb.
Top work by The Inspector too... good to see a job taken seriously, although a lack of a clipboard and shakes of the head combined with sighs and tutting makes me doubt their legitimacy...
the inspector works in mysterious ways
Love it, your work is beautiful Matt, and you do make it look easy, but we know that it’s not 🤦🏻I love the inspector, he makes my day ❤️❤️
They make glue on wall flanges for pvc pipe that glue on the outside of the pipe. There is also special adhesives for bonding pvc with fiberglass that are impossible to remove once glued together. They also make pvc flanges that glue to to the inside of pipes or fittings that have a nice clean tapered face.
If you want to make carbon fiber cowls the best way to do it is by making a silicone mold. An easy way to plug intakes is with rubber test plugs that have a wing nut in the middle that makes them expand into place.
Doors and drawers: Hi Matt and Janni, A suggestion...on the interior of the boat, you have been following a basic theme of radii on the doors and corners on the drawers (at least from all I could make out). Might I recommend you follow this same design theme for the aft quarter berth doors: radii on all four corners. Right now you have radii on the tops and corners on the bottoms. Rounded doors would match better with the forward doors (stateroom and head). I don't recall you stating why the mixed design, if you did. I have not read through the comments to date so please forgive me if this topic has already been mentioned in the comments. My two cents. Just love the work and project to date. Thanks!
Great job sir. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to your next video. u and the family stay safe
Another great project almost completed , well done looks awesome Matt I’m amazed how much ventilation you’ll get from these, great video 🇬🇧Graham , ps no surprise they passed inspection 😂
When you walk through the boat, you really get to see the size of this thing. It's properly the biggest build, (In size) currently being worked on. Certainly in fibreglass.
Great episode! More progress! Keep rolling Duracell team!👍👍
Gawd, I totally know the inspections and the Inspector must be so time consuming but, dang, it’s the most adorable and funniest bit of filming ever! Thanks so much, hope the little sailor is doing well with good old LaPaz too!
Seeing how much light came in, through the vent, before you put the box on.
Might it be advantageous to make the area on the box, directly above the vent, more transparent?
As always

Love the project, Camer work is really really good.
Matt and Yanni, howdy! We haveta compliment Yanni on her music choice as soundtrack, and both of ye for a cracking video again this week..
Looking great ! I had 2 just like that for cockpit drains in my nauset 27 worked awesome. boat is looking terrific nice work I hope the inspector approved it lol 😊
That's purrfect!
The seriousness and performance of Matt and Janni is perfectly balanced with the fun of the inspector 😂
Nice work Matt quite impressed on the Dorade system works over all great job. The Boat Inspector was very intense and wasn,t giving anything away. Matt ya looked like you were sweating there for a while but ya passed finally so all good. Great to have an Inspector that won,t stand for any Sloppy stuff. Keep at it now. ;0]
Best show on RUclips!
Bloody bureacats ...always meowning about having to come out for an inspection. 😋
Lol, how is that crazy cat, 🐱, possibly thinking yes that will do are we ready to go fishing yet, 😊❤
LOL..., really looking good. thx for the laughs
Matt, watching you glue in the connectors in your Dorade boxes, I noticed that you do not glass in the area of the deck foam that appears when you cut the circular holes for the connection pipes. Watching Life on the Hull and MJ Sailing, they rout out the foam in the cut out and fill it with thickened epoxy. Are you happy that the seal on your foam is sufficient to stop ingress of water into the foam sandwich?
Matt, if you don't want to scuff up the PVC you can put some pipe dope on the surface, let it sit for a bit and then wipe it off. That breaks the chemical bond of the PVC molecules and makes them available for PU or epoxy to bond to it.
Brilliant video, you make it look so easy
Grate work as allways
Great Episode
They make rubber compression plugs that you could just slip into the dorade hole coming into the cabin from the head. I believe they just have a wingnut on the outer, solid plate that compresses the rubber boot inside the pipe fitting...much like a expanding rubber transom plug you might find on a small boat/dinghy. Might work and be much less expensive, though it will likely be made of black plastic and look fairly industrial. Still, it wouldn't be something that you have in on a regular basis so...
Love the inspector 😅
That location/design works really well for your deck!!
LOVE THE SUPER KITTY
I love it...very nice and funny video..
Circular hatch covers are not expensive. Much better than just a bung.
Use mechanical test plugs or pipe plugs add a ball chain to it to close the hole when you need to
The boxes are great well done wouldn't be the without the inspector see you next week 😊😊
I love it she dose a great job.
