Subtitles need a fast pacing of the video a script before hand and that ... the sidemen are not really about that
A lot of them do have subtitles when something rememberable happens that will be clipped later and put on the shorts channel
I personally feel like subtitles are more for like “meme” moments or basically stuff that just happens so quickly, randomly, and funny.

Psychology behind adding subtitles. It adds an extra layer of attention to consuming a video. Usually you hear and watch it or sometimes you hear the video if you're doing something else. But it also adds the aspect of reading which makes you pay more attention. It also works best with high energy videos with many small sequences and cuts with a joke at the end of every cut like a tommy video or recent Logan Paul videos. It won't work with slow vidoes like game shows because it would act like a extra job to read instead of it being there naturally. But yeah, definitely add them if you're making fast paced vlogs or even the sidemen gaming videos

Ngl I like subtitles especially in such outdoor vids cuz most of the times however good the mic is; I miss quite a lot of the stuff they say and the youtube captions(if they even are available)don't always work
@@ishaan_goel yeah that's a big reason as well. You can easily understand what's they're saying. Even if the voices are clear there can be difficulty in understanding an accent.

This is my opinion on the subtitles, It's good to have them because the viewers can easily understand the lines or jokes. You know he has like huge American following or non British that might not get the accent automatically.

Subtitles are great for your followers who; can't hear well, learning english/dont hear everything in the video clearly and English is not their mother tongue and so on. So it's great when you have the option to use subtitles if you need them.

I love the fact that he uses subtitles , it helps people who can't hear that well, people who don't understand the British accent and for people like me, who's mother tongue is not English. 😉

Subtitles help the hard of hearing viewers, ppl that dont speak english as their first language and cant catch all the words, ppl with focus problems and they generally help the jokes land better. They helped me many times and im happy he puts them in his vids

Subtitles are nice because it just makes it easier to understand and Tommy’s type of subtitle is very clear and easy to read/discern

Just closed captions is enough, especially for accessibility reasons or whenever the video is fast paced with people talking over one another, it’s useful.

I think Simon's attitude towards Tommy's form of content explains why sidemen are sometimes a bit behind RUclips styles. You have to admit that some of their content is somewhat stuck in 2013 RUclips. It helps keep their fans but it also means that finding new ones takes a hit

part of the reason he adds subtitles is for hard of hearing people and i think neuro divergent people, hence the different colours and how the text replicates what is being said with punctuation and capital letters etc
i have never been able to ride a bike without both hands. A whole summer goes by, i use my brothers bike and i for the first time ever since the summer started i ride a bike and thought i would try no hands. And on the first try i do it. and i could hold my balance, it was like i have been able to do it for a long time
With subtitles, I have a bad time trying to actively listen, like for some reason I know someone is talking, but I can't follow along with what they're saying, so it's a lot easier to be able tor read what they're saying in the moment.
I think subtitles are better suited for clips on like facebook or tik tok. Especially on fb I don’t actually select them but I’ll watch without sound for scrolling purposes
Love the use of subtitles the way the goons do it, not on literally every sentence but still quite a lot, I think it's easier to take the jokes in that way

As someone who relies on visual ques, the color-coded subtitles are honestly a big help for me, although I can see where they’d be distracting to some people

Subs do work, especially as an American, I sometimes don’t know what you guys have said in convo, and my mind races to fill in the blank. It works if you use them sparingly (as you mentioned)

With the subtitles, I know it's a lot of work, but having subtitles that can be activated, but not constantly there are really awesome for people hard of hearing or people who don't have English as a first language. It's how I became fluent in english
Tommy should go to the Netherlands like everyone at the age of 12 or older can like ride a bike without hands and almost everyone who is like 6 years or older can ride a bike without stabilizers

the subtitles- yes 100% I wish more people did this, RUclips auto subtitles are very small, inaccurate and just plain dont work so for people like me who have hearing problems (APD) they help so much (the colours are VERY useful so in high noise situations you can figure out who is who) I know it is a lot of work but it makes watching videos so much easier for people like me
