I’ve been doing this exact drill for months! Helped me get really comfortable with Mohawks and spread-eagles, doing both my left and right transitions all the way up and down my town’s roller hockey rink. Now I gotta get my pigeon toed transitions down 😂
I've been practicing the drills you have here on RUclips and because to be honest to you, the skating class I'm taking is lacking proper fundamental teaching. I'm gonna say it, Dirty School of skate is where you want to learn from across the nation! I've been skating for 6days and then got moved up to intermediate. Now in my 2nd intermediate class, they're hinting I should test for advanced -what? I'm a beginner though in my eyes, I've been skating almost every day for the past 2weeks and it's all thanks to you Dirty that I'm getting this fundamental skate ed and progress. There are some teachers who love to teach and are phenomenal and Dirty Deborah is it for roller skating!!! Advanced? -me? No way!! But I have been practicing - skating is an addiction!!!!
Respect for everyone and you Deb to ever bring up so much mental dedication and body control to be able to do such drills 🙌🏼 But it is not just the drills, it is your personality doing it ♡
This is exactly what I need to learn to do when at the rink. A new fun skill that keeps my mind engaged while progressing my technique. Woot woot! Thank u
I've been doing this drill for a week now, not as smooth. My goal is to skate backwards smoothly. Skating for my mid life crisis, cheaper than a Corvette.😀
@@uh7297 I've gotten better. I looked so awkward going backwards at first, but with lots of practice, learning from RUclips and other skaters at the rink, I'm not too bad now.
I've been practicing this since I switched to jam plugs a few weeks ago and last night was my most successful attempt. As soon as I remembered to keep my core engaged and be intentional about where I put my weight, lifting my feet became so much easier. Confidence in my stepping improved instantly.
This is one of my all-time favorite skate moves! And I love when the dj reverses the skating direction so I can practice it going the other way. Great move for mastering that Outer/outer Mohawk turn in both directions. You’re so smoooooooth!!! Love listening to your technique!
You are just fabulous!! I love your videos. You have pushed me back into skating ....thank you. Buying new skates this week. Keep up great work. Love you
Hi Dirty, I'm finally able to do this sequence, but I'm running into a problem. After I do the sequence once or twice, I'm loosing speed going around the turn until I come to an almost complete stop. Any hints on what I can do to keep my speed up?
Hey DD 🙋🏾♀️💖 I needed to see this video anything anticlockwise is still a challenge for me and my pivots and cross overs need work 😂 but I'm on it with loads of practice and Imma drill it till I kill it 😁
I'm working on mastering this! I have 3/4 of it down except for the left skate behind and step out bringing me back to the beginning. You mentioned a link to work on this, but I don't see it. Would you mind forwarding it again? I learn so much watching you. Your explanations are spot on and the counting really helps get in the brain. Also, this rink is so cool. I love the artwork. Its so different from what one usually expects to see at roller rink. Thanks again!
nice video! how do you dodge people when skating backwards on the rink? I see a lot of skaters do it so smoothly (in a straight line too) and it looks really cool, but can't tell if they do it on one leg or two...
I know this might be a lot to ask but could I see this in written instructions per each count. I think I need to have written instructions for this one. Lol.
I tried this today and every time I did the first transition part, I stopped instead of continuing to move backwards 😭 but i’m sure i’ll get the hang of it soon 🙌🏾
I got my skates in October and I've still not even took them outside! I tried them on and they do fit. But I'm scared! I'm an older gal, and a bit chubby and I am scared to death I'll break a hip!
Just started back skating after about 25 yrs. Already managed to crash and burn (several times). I find I'm scared now, and that bothers me. Thoughts?? K

I love drills and footwork like that. My favorite videos ! Would you also recommend this alternating mohawk cross (figure skating video)? > ruclips.net/video/ERCndp6crXc/видео.html
I don't know if I'll ever be able to do everything you do Deborah but at least I don't fall when I skate forward it's all thanks to you.

Looks like a fun challenge! really appreciate the detailed breakdown, esp. around weight distribution & what’s going on with the hip

My next drill to practice.
Love all your directions and knowledge...I will get back in the rink someday! @ 50 now :)
One of my favorite skills. I remember when this worked the first time. Easier toward the wall than toward the center…
Whoa this is advanced. I’ve been practicing indoors 10 mins day/2 weeks.

I wanna learn this drill 😽
I think I need to loosen my trucks a little more to make it easier to hold my outer edges.

That was a good tutorial. If I learned that I'd do it all night at the rink!😆
Can you show starting your first turn right, left
How does this look on blades with no toe stop

Thanks for tutorial love your videos like always
Where are you skating? Is the space you give lessons in? It looks amazing!!
I don't understand how to step out after crossing. Definitely struggling with my balance at that point.
Cool
Use to be a decent skater back in the 90s! Wasn't the best but use to date a girl and we was at the roller rink every weekend!
I tried this today and every time I did the first transition part, I stopped instead of continuing to move backwards 😭 but i’m sure i’ll get the hang of it soon 🙌🏾
