      Mine is also a BPY, car has just under 154,000 miles. We love the car and besides being a great driving experience, it has a lot of sentimental value so we are determined to put it back on the road. It’s our honeymoon car and took us almost 19,000 miles trouble free except for the quart of oil we would pour in about every 500-700 miles. We got it for $2200 out the door at the end of 2019.

      Any CCTA that suffers from oil starvation will 100% destroy the CH, the block may survive with minor TLC, but the cylinder head always gives up.

    I see this happening way to often in RUclips (from Europe) . Sludge in th oil pan. It is always cars in the US, then most of videos in RUclips are from the US.
    I belive there is an issue with very bad quality oil been used in modern engines. It might be related with the obsession in the US with changing the oil way to ofthen, and then trying to save money on each oil change, that results in low quality oil been used.
    I have one of this engines from new, 200.000 + miles, I only change the oil and filter every 20.000 miles, that is 10 times in its live. But I use best quality in both. The engine works perfectly. I change the tensioner (for the new version) and the timing chain is not streached, the camshaft is clean, no baked oil steins. I only had to clean the intake valves recently because of missfire when cold, at 200.000miles!

    • @NaptownTuner
      @NaptownTuner  3 года назад

      Not with the massive ridge and damage to the cylinder wall on this one. I only trust the factory hone job that I recently made a video on especially since it costs more time and labor to do oversized machine work / all the bearings, crank replace, new head, oil pump, flushing everything... My machine shop does one head a month very slow and last time I dropped off an engine it took 2 months. Plus when metal and trash destroys everything I like to retire the engine, don’t need the risk of trash somewhere wiping bearings out again. More cost and time effective to lay it to rest
