If you look at the first four cars, Hamlin Logano and Larson were going at the same speed about halfway between the zone. I think Martin Truex Jr lifted which caused it to look like Hamlin jumped it
When your video started. Everything you said was exactly how I saw it too. That Busch caution was a joke. Sure he got out if shape, but after seeing Bristol, he was in perfect control. I like how Nascar started race with only a minor delay, but a 20lap caution at stage end to dry pit road. It was a non competitive stop. Cars could of went 5mph if Nascar was the scared. Theres other dumb calls but the one I did like. During an Interview with Kyle, Bubba came over and admitted guilt and how Karma got him pitting after and they laughed when Bubba said if you say anthing bad, I probably deserve it. LoL
I love my Nascar, but I’ll never agree with green white checker. I think its a travesty that it doesn’t just finish under yellow. The race was over, Truex had it. That was an artificial race in the end.
@@wingracer1614I like Denny. Always have. I think he’s trying to pick up some of KFB’s swagger. 😂😂 Just don’t like GWC. All good if others do. I find it kind of kills the vibe rather than adding to the excitement. But, I do think he got away with jumping the start. 😁
I think people gotta understand that "Tier 1" Support helps. But they're still new in Tier 1 and we probably won't see the real fruits of that partnership until later in the year or next year. But its great we've been seeing glimpses already for him and Mcdowell... mainly seems like they have speed during Qualifying or firing off. But they're still suffering in pit stops, pit strategy and long run speeds.
The BS caution they thru with a lap and a half left caused that restart that never should have happened. Stole the race from MTJ and he should have been mad. Hamlin's car(bubba) spins Larson and the 5 never hit anything and kept on going. NASCAR clearly wanted cautions tonight.
I'm a neutral observer here since my driver retired, yeah, Denny jumped the restart by about a full car length. That sucks because I was hoping to see MTJ in victory lane.
@dennispalmer6007 I just think he is done. Has won a championship and there are bigger things on the horizon. Remember he is good buds with junior. And he has alot goin on behind the scenes. Someone's gotta change the direction of where this sport is going. Or do something equally better.
Nascar screwed up big time with not black flaging Denny on the restart he jumped and Ray Charles could see it. And wasted laps under caution drying pit road.
Nobody is talking about it either. First 70 laps, 35+ I think were under caution. Tired of fans overlooking this. Every caution they take off 7-10 laps, 10 cautions a race that’s 70-100 laps every race. Just horrible
Hamlin didn't jump! Martin tried to lay back. U can tell by how the #5 ran up on Martin rear bumper so fast. Hamlin took off as soon as his splitter touched the line.
If it would've been Larson, Hamlin would've cried until NASCAR reviewed the start and took win away and gave to him. This is why I don't hardly watch it anymore cause it's not really NASCAR anymore.
All the drivers said Denny most likely jumped the restart. NASCAR is funny, because they threw a caution out for Kyle spinning out, yet the day before, when Haley Deegan was slow on the race track, they let it run under green.
You know, I didn't have a problem with the lack of review until you directly compared it to COTA. So yeah, the officiating is BS. Also, I'm a Larson fan but imagine how mad you'd be if you were dominating a race, a car spins with less than 2 laps to go, and then on the final restart, that same car is passing you LOL.
They've used rain tires for a long time at road courses. They qualified in the rain in Japan in 1996 and had practices at Watkins Glen in 98 and 2000. It just never rained on race day, so they never got to use them in a race. For ovals, they tested it before at Martinsville in 96. I'm glad they finally pulled the trigger.
As a Truex fan I'm totally done with NASCAR😠. He was cheated out of this race and it's plain to all of us..we SAW it no matter how much BS the announcers tried to convince otherwise. Hamlin clearly jumped the start too as well as that bogus caution. We aren't blind 😠 And WHY call MTJ to put with 1 lap to go? Someone sure wanted Hamlin to "win". I'm sick of NASCAR AND Hamlin!
Yea the game is rigged I just wish I knew HOW much its rigged ... If 20 cars didnt pit no way 21st can get to 1st in 2 laps .. why the hell didnt a lot more cars stay out like if u in 20th place back there is NO way pitting makes sense .. u not going lose 20 spots in 2 laps
The only gripe you have that's legitimate is Hamlin jumping the start. Larson getting spun was a legitimate caution. Maybe not at an intermediate, but at a short track, it was the correct call. And as for pitting? Staying out would've been a death sentence. Tires mean everything at Richmond. Had he stayed out, he would've finished last on the lead lap. And that's assuming he didn't get run over like Reddick did at Bristol.
Spot on! Agree with everything. Bush caution, Hamlin jumped the restart, you changed my mind on Larson/Wallace (unintentional), and Groovy gadge at 26%. Good show Eric!
As a Truex fan, I didn't mind the outcome of the KB caution. As a fan, I questioned the validity of it. Also as a Truex fan, the end of the race hurt me. A lot. Due to time zones and other things, I thought the race started at 7 PM my time. I tuned in several laps before the KB caution. I saw Truex struggle all last playoffs. Truex has not been getting many lucky bounces, but he's fighting his way to a top 3 overall points position. Seeing him lead for half the race was satisfying. Seeing him pass Larson with ease was beautiful. Seeing the ending brought all of that crashing down.
As someone said in another chat: "Even Stevie Wonder could see that Denny jumped that restart." The track limits comparison was the exact thing I thought of too, Eric. You can't call one race one way and then call another race differently. The lines and rules are in place, and they're your rules! On top of that, it looks even worse with the sponsor of the race being Toyota...
25% on The Groovy Gauge for this in comparison to 85% for the Daytona 500 where half of the field wrecked in the last 10 laps and the winner was decided by the person who pushed the caution button? As a Truex fan, I would more likely agree with these two scores swapped. But great episode as always, Eric!
I'm still stocking with parity being a good thing. I see your point, Eric, but I prefer this roulette infinitely more rather than whatever the heck is going on in F1. Also, eeeeey, congrats on the engagement!

@@wingracer1614seriously?? It’s the same winner every week 😂 I love and watch F1 too, but “better” is extremely subjective and I like parity in my sports. And the Atlanta finish was better than any finish in F1 in a lonnnnnng time. See subjective.

Denny definitely jumped that restart there is no question about that but nascar not calling it confuses me but I need to hear a good reason why. They didn’t think it was necessary:also that yellow with Kyle was total bs it messed up the strategy and also I think Penske should have a right to challenge the call for a jumped restart I mean I would do that if I was the 22 team
I want to see Mr SMT data bring that up on his podcast and show that he jumped the restart, but like everything else Hamlin does, he will chicken out and justify his move
In car data could have resolved it in a instant. NASCAR choose to make a call without any data from the car. They can see if he accelerated before the white line.
Honestly I think 25 is too high. That was a terrible couple of calls by NASCAR. I am a Truex fan and really not sure his car was ready for the finish, howeve I'd on board with the same concullusion that Denny did jump
Congratulations Eric on the engagement. Wishing you much happiness! I want to feel good about Hamlin's win, but I just can't. Not with not know for sure if he jumped. If I were in control, I would have had to penalize the 11 and give the 22 the win
I think if they use wet tires then they should pit just like any other race. Throwing cautions for them to pit doesn't help the racing. People wanna see driver's mess up or wreck.
This was the first race I’ve ever seen. Crazy! Sitting in the stands and not having a clue what was happening but watching the fans go crazy! Interesting race!
Nascar costed Carl Edwards a championship teen years ago and is the reason he quit driving so abruptly by throwing one of these BS 'restart cautions'...!
Maybe Nascar needs to look into bringing different tire compounds. Like they have in Indy car and F1. At least then there would be differences in tire fall off. Then there would be different strategies.
Hamlins in car video has just surfaced on twitter and it’s blatantly obvious he jumped. He was full throttle at least a car length before the restart zone. No clue what nascar is doing.

9:42 Can we take a closer look at the rules and how Kyle Larson spun to bring out a caution yet basically restarted in the SAME EXACT spot?! So let me get this straight - I can bring out a weak caution to bunch back the field again, then possibly GAIN spots on pit road for something was my fault? I always thought the rule was if you don't maintain speed you go the back (see 2007 Montreal Robby Gordon/Ambrose incident). Can you imagine the uproar if Larson ended up winning after brining out the caution?

Couldn't agree more with the analysis of this race, NASCAR needs to get it's head screwed on straight. I watch to see good racing not to see NASCAR put their thumb on how they want the race to look. STOP IT!
I live in Richmond. Been here my whole life. I've attended the races here off an on for 3 decades. Richmonds track surface is too worn out if you ask me. It used to be called "The Action Track" because they used to beat an bang around the track. If you ask me. Turn Richmond into the new dirt track. It was the last track to be a dirt track before Bristol. Its also more open to alow the dust to clear quickly and keep visibility for drivers and fans. Something needs to be done. Richmonds draw of fans is slowly dwendling let alone hardly enough to be worthy of coming back to a second time. I love the fact I get two races a year, but unless they do something to spice this track up its gonna loose its 2nd race. Make it dirt or repave it. Maybe more horsepower would make it more exciting without doing anything to the surface. 🤷♂️ just something.. PS. Congrats on the engagement!
I’m worried too. It’s not even the track really. Or at least the next-gen magnifies problems by not racing well here. I do wonder how it would race with a dirt date. Someone that knows how dirt tracks race might hop in and let us know if that would even work or if Richmond would even be a candidate for that
@@extragoogleaccount6061 I do know that Richmond did not have the same shape it does today as it did when it was dirt, but the tracks layout is still ideal.
Smart veteran move by Hamlin. He knows NASCAR is not going to make that call on the final restart. Truex tried to lay back and got schooled, then door slammed Larson on the back straight because his panties were in a knot.
The onboards clearly show it was a miss. If Nascar actually reviewed it like they Sawyer said then everyone needs to be fired. Cause onboards showed it clear as day and they chose to ignore their own rules. Especially after Cota last week

@@charlesshults7398 if it is not required, then it is not justified. I am of the opinion that everything should be called. It should not matter if it is the last lap, two laps, etc. Just like in any sport. If it is a foul then it is a foul regardless of the context or moment.

I agree with you Eric, But I've would have given it even a lower score maybe a 20% for me this race ranks with the 2008 Indianapolis with the bad tires. But that is my opinion on how I feel about this race. I won't lie I did like the beginning part of the race. But I would have loved it if they had kept it green, like they did at Watkins Glen 2yrs ago. But you have to give NASCAR credit can't always make everyone happy or give the audience what they want. It is what it is. Good Job Larson Top 5
I think this needs to be addressed that the choice to run wet weather tires need to be in the hands of drivers and crew cheifs. Instead of nascar telling teams when they can run rain or slicks let the crew cheifs decide because that adds to the strategy that fans love to see. And nascar needs to stop throwing comp yellows forcing cautions to change tires because that's whst the officials seem fit in the moment. Let the race run it's natural course. Let teams choice to start on dry or wet tires and as the track changes, choice if you want to stay on wets or go to slicks. Put it in the hands of the teams not the officials. If fans like strategy that what nascar needs to do.
Lets be honest, the Larson caution at the end was questionable too. He never hit the wall got it straightened out and kept rolling. Typical for NASCAR manufacturing late race drama which essentially penalized the best performing team and driver last night.
nascar has been using that caution to control a races flow for decades. as for denny, from his point of view looking through the windshield he may have thought he crossed the start line.

LoL
NASCAR blatantly cost the 5 and then the 19 they are a complete joke
Why are the 5 & 19 jokes??
@@3120DownForce He means Nascar not the 5 and 19... just didn't word it right I don't think.
@@3120DownForce He's saying NASCAR's Officiating is a complete joke
The 5 benefited from being spun out ironically.
Absolutely!!!
I love my Nascar, but I’ll never agree with green white checker. I think its a travesty that it doesn’t just finish under yellow. The race was over, Truex had it. That was an artificial race in the end.
And if it had been the other way, Denny leading but Truex winning on the GWC you would have the exact opposite opinion..
@@wingracer1614I like Denny. Always have. I think he’s trying to pick up some of KFB’s swagger. 😂😂
Just don’t like GWC. All good if others do. I find it kind of kills the vibe rather than adding to the excitement.
But, I do think he got away with jumping the start. 😁
I don’t know if I started this video quicker than hamlin on the final restart? Hahaha
Man the first 6 minutes are just you reading my mind lmao, I agree 110% about the Busch caution
Incompetence = the NASCAR Sanctioning Body for the last 3 decades.
Congrats on the engagement, Eric. 👍🏻
That's Why I Like NHRA Drag Racing Better than NASCAR.
You spelt Corruption wrong .
@@Bogues_88 Corruption can be part of incompetence. Either way, the sanctioning body completely sucks.
Off topic but Gilliland has been on it for a good chunk of this year. Ya Tier 1 support helps but hes showing why he deserves to be in FRM full time
I think people gotta understand that "Tier 1" Support helps.
Eric, in this case you are being very generous. I'd give it no more than 10%.
Congratulations on your engagement!
The BS caution they thru with a lap and a half left caused that restart that never should have happened. Stole the race from MTJ and he should have been mad. Hamlin's car(bubba) spins Larson and the 5 never hit anything and kept on going. NASCAR clearly wanted cautions tonight.
Agree! 👍
I'm a neutral observer here since my driver retired, yeah, Denny jumped the restart by about a full car length. That sucks because I was hoping to see MTJ in victory lane.
This will be it for MTJ at.Gibbs

Nascar screwed up big time with not black flaging Denny on the restart he jumped and Ray Charles could see it. And wasted laps under caution drying pit road.
Nobody is talking about it either. First 70 laps, 35+ I think were under caution. Tired of fans overlooking this. Every caution they take off 7-10 laps, 10 cautions a race that’s 70-100 laps every race. Just horrible
Im mad my fav driver truex got the win stolen for that last restart and that last lap CAUTION.......😤
Hamlin didn't jump! Martin tried to lay back. U can tell by how the #5 ran up on Martin rear bumper so fast. Hamlin took off as soon as his splitter touched the line.

Denny Hamlin jumped the start but NASCAR didn't want to call it because it was too late in the race.

If it would've been Larson, Hamlin would've cried until NASCAR reviewed the start and took win away and gave to him. This is why I don't hardly watch it anymore cause it's not really NASCAR anymore.

@@C4SPER-yn9oc That's about what I would expect from a Hamlin hater. Sick comment.
Relax man
I’m also a Truex fan
There will be better days
This one hurts but you still love the sport
@@Bogues_88There were only 15 cars out there and the fall-off was like 2 seconds I think.
Congrats on the engagement! You got a good one!! ❤. Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness!
poor martin i feel for him had this race won till his toyota teammate recks larson and a terrible call at the end gives hamlin the win
Cant have it both ways ... you cant accept some corruption to help your driver but not the other corruption that makes your guy loses.
As someone said in another chat: "Even Stevie Wonder could see that Denny jumped that restart."
The track limits comparison was the exact thing I thought of too, Eric. You can't call one race one way and then call another race differently. The lines and rules are in place, and they're your rules! On top of that, it looks even worse with the sponsor of the race being Toyota...
Truex on board camera shoes it clear that Hamlin accelerated before the line
25% on The Groovy Gauge for this in comparison to 85% for the Daytona 500 where half of the field wrecked in the last 10 laps and the winner was decided by the person who pushed the caution button? As a Truex fan, I would more likely agree with these two scores swapped. But great episode as always, Eric!
I'm still stocking with parity being a good thing. I see your point, Eric, but I prefer this roulette infinitely more rather than whatever the heck is going on in F1.
Also, eeeeey, congrats on the engagement!
I've watched every F1 race. Cota is the only Nascar race I've watched. F1 certainly has it's problems but it's better than anything Nascar has put on in 20 years
@@wingracer1614seriously?? It’s the same winner every week 😂 I love and watch F1 too, but “better” is extremely subjective and I like parity in my sports. And the Atlanta finish was better than any finish in F1 in a lonnnnnng time. See subjective.
@@Mycarisloose Yes "better" is subjective and by my subjective, F1 is miles better. Mainly for being real, not manufactured like everything Nascar. And sorry, if your racing organization has less legitimacy than F1, you have MAJOR problems.
Atlanta was a great finish, after a complete snoozefest of side by side racing that meant nothing. That race could have been a 20 lapper and skipped all the BS. That track and that style of racing are complete BS. I already had Daytona and talladega on my do not watch list, now Atlanta is on it too. I've only watched COTA and the last 80 laps of Bristol this year. I've seen every single lap of F1, every qualifying session and most of the free practices. Hell I even watched preseason testing.
When Hamlin jumped the start and NASCAR did nothing I said to myself Nascar just showed us who they have selected to be the 2024 champion.
NASCAR is just very petty when it comes to these "calls" nowadays in my honest opinion.
In car data could have resolved it in a instant. NASCAR choose to make a call without any data from the car. They can see if he accelerated before the white line.
Congrats on the engagement bro!💍
Kurt busch did it once and got penalized.
Denny Hamlin jumps it and doesn't penalized
Watching all of your videos for years. You finally got one where I agree with you on every single topic in the video.
CONGRATS ERIC !!!!!!
Congrats for doing more crying than Hamlin has done his entire career. It's so great to see him cry like this, when his Hendrick boys don't win. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think if they use wet tires then they should pit just like any other race. Throwing cautions for them to pit doesn't help the racing. People wanna see driver's mess up or wreck.
NASCAR got the result they wanted.
Yea they wanted to lock Hamlin into the playoffs and this was their best oportunity ..

Nice. Hope you had a good time!
Truex got screwed, and i missed the caution thag started the whole mess but that was ridiculous on replay
I think the non-competitive pit stops were a good call. Wet pit road and stalls wouldn’t have been safe for competitive stops.
Nascar costed Carl Edwards a championship teen years ago and is the reason he quit driving so abruptly by throwing one of these BS 'restart cautions'...!
Well Nascar should have banned him for life long before that so taking a championship from him was a minor penalty
@wingracer1614 Why...? For what reason...?
@@kurtisstutzman7056 For what he did to Keselowski. And I hate Keselowski but that should have got him at least suspended if not banned

Maybe Nascar needs to look into bringing different tire compounds. Like they have in Indy car and F1. At least then there would be differences in tire fall off. Then there would be different strategies.
Awww. There’s always next week.

The single lugnut strikes again.
Thats what i seen as well. The 19 laid back to get a push. Imo. Great job to the 11 team pit crew. Outstanding job this weekend.
The onboards clearly show it was a miss. If Nascar actually reviewed it like they Sawyer said then everyone needs to be fired. Cause onboards showed it clear as day and they chose to ignore their own rules. Especially after Cota last week
The last caution was bullshit in my opinion. However, all of this is just more NASCAR race manipulation.
The caution was justified. The no-call on the restart was questionable at the very least.
@@EricEstepp I do not think the caution was justified. In the replay I saw, Larson does spin into the grass, hitting the inside wall but he keeps moving. Got back on the track thereafter. ruclips.net/video/ofOwnXuL_o4/видео.html
@@ak102986. It’s just NASCAR being NASCAR. Last caution was “justified” but not required. Larson didn’t hit anything and kept moving. At least cautions can be somewhat subjective. However, jumping a restart is not. Either you did or you didn’t. Like speeding on pit road, either you were speeding or you weren’t. Maybe Bell’s speeding on pit road was close and then shouldn’t have been called?
@@charlesshults7398 if it is not required, then it is not justified. I am of the opinion that everything should be called. It should not matter if it is the last lap, two laps, etc. Just like in any sport. If it is a foul then it is a foul regardless of the context or moment.
Congratulations on your engagement, Eric! 🎉🎉
(And thanks for trying to figure out wth happened with Blaney today.) 🤔
i won’t lie that hamlin probably jumped the restart… but imagine him showing up on actions detrimental tmr with loads of SMT data to defend all the allegations 😭
I think Preece is improving. He scored a stage point, and would have had a top 20 if not for bad luck.
Lets be honest, the Larson caution at the end was questionable too. He never hit the wall got it straightened out and kept rolling. Typical for NASCAR manufacturing late race drama which essentially penalized the best performing team and driver last night.
Before overtime existed that's definitely not a caution.
Congratulations eric on your proposal. Im truly happy for the both of you.😇
I'm pissed off also Eric

This is to be expected with a race sponsored by Toyota!!!
What do you mean, both lead cats are Toyota
nascar has been using that caution to control a races flow for decades. as for denny, from his point of view looking through the windshield he may have thought he crossed the start line.
