I love this game because it puts you into Chloe’s fantasy world… you see things through her eyes though most of it is a lie. Their moments together weren’t lies, but we can see as players that although Rachel liked Chloe, maybe even loved, she still put herself before others for her own benefit. It hurts seeing Chloe in love with Rachel and blindsided by her own fascination.
isn’t that kind of how it was with max as well? i feel like chloe loved rachel more than rachel loved her and she went above and beyond to do things for her all the time, just how i feel like max does and feels much more for chloe than chloe does for max
@@maratesfayetrue, up until their lighthouse scene with the storm approaching i too think chloe was too blindfolded with rachel and her need to find her ( then avange her ), but by the end of the game ( if you save her ) i think she begins getting over it. in lis 2 she’s living with max in nyc and changing her appearance drastically as a symbol of her fully leaving all behind and creating a new life with max. who knows id rachel had had the chance perhaps she would’ve done the same with chloe once they left arcadia bay.

Compound that by losing her Daddy and Chloe was honestly no match for the absolute gorgeous storm that Rachel was. The most amazing people in the world have a way of loving everyone and making everyone feel loved, but yet not be attainable. Those people don't belong to anyone because there is a world out there to explore and much more love to give. TLDR; Chloe loved Rachel singularly....Rachel loved Chloe for who she was, but also came across and loved other people (like Frank, among others).
Well, Ashly Burch herself said that the impression the devs of the first game gave her was that Chloe´s feelings for Rachel were unrequited love. The answer can also be found from both LiS and BtS. I don´t think all the multiple references and metaphors of Rachel being really good at lying/manipulating people were added to BtS for no reason (“The raven is to be respected but never trusted”, Jedi Mind Trick, acting, her father making her good at lying/spotting lies, Chloe´s role as Ariel who is at the mercy of Prospera/Rachel, and Rachel/Prospera saying that she doesn´t grant Chloe/Ariel her freedom, etc), Sera´s story parallers Rachel and even William warns Chloe in her dreams. Bts was fanservice and was done by a different studio since the writers of LiS never wanted a prequel, and I don´t think the devs of LiS ever intended that they were together, especially since Chloe had her own "boy toy" phase, and Rachel´s letter about Jefferson suggests (perhaps it´s more clear in the original French version and German translation) that she and Chloe had talked about Rachel´s love life before which had made Chloe upset, but they weren´t together. The only person Rachel loved was Jefferson, it was hinted at throughout LiS, and was confirmed by the devs. And one of the themes of LiS was that your initial impression of most people is wrong, including Rachel.
And then a few years later when Max comes back after a five year silent treatment, Chloe doesn’t last 48 hours before telling Max to make out with her. Seems like it doesn’t matter what you’re into, after a few hours with Rachel, solids are no longer on the table.

The thought actually even occurred to me, that Rachel might have tried to get chloe away from Frank and all the other dangerous people around him. And we know from bts that this was a thing. No matter how nice Frank is, he's after all a drug dealer. I really don't want to think Rachel was just a manipulative self-centered btch..
My money is on using him. I was and am a Rachel. When you pay attention you can notice so much. However, you seek solice in very few. But you know how to people please and Chloe truly didn't give a shit which was appealing. It makes sense they'd become a thing. Chloe just accepted being alone and Rachel was overtly social. The true tell of it all is when Steph remembered them both and you simply hear their voices. They were in sync. Mikey saying how it seems like they are playing their own game. And they were.
She wrote Frank love letters, and Frank had pictures where Rachel was dancing for him in her underwear (it parallels the photos of the Dark Room). And we can even find her letter where she breaks things up with him after some kind of violent event ("That was not cool what you did. And don´t blame the drugs. You actually scared me"). Rachel was clearly lying to Chloe somehow about Frank ("Rachel straight up lied to my face! Why didn´t she say anything?"). And basically the only reason why Frank´s character even exists was to hint us that Rachel was at risk of getting into a relationship with another older man who is so much worse than him (Jefferson). The devs confirmed long ago that Rachel fell in love with Jefferson. He knew about both Chloe and Frank, and he clearly didn´t think that what Rachel and Frank had was anything serious ("She was over Frank before it even began. He just didn´t know.") And in LiS, Chloe knew Frank, she had hanged out with him and owed him a lot of money, so Rachel definitely didn´t prevent that from happening.
