To be honest, I enjoyed the NEWS immensely. I can understand that the segment might have not been the most enjoyable to produce or other wise support but I found the interaction of the 3 stars very entertaining and this endeared them personally to me all the more.
Couldn't agree more. The News was easily my favourite part of the show for exactly the reason you said - watching the 3 lads interact. I could easily watch an entire hour long show of them doing that.
I have to agree as well. Now and again I'll put on RUclips compilation videos of Top Gear news where it'll just be spliced together news sections from a whole series. They're great because you can also just listen to them while doing something else, like driving.
Of course, the News have always been amazing. A small talk show with three blokes who can put up great entertainment, it was perfect. Now listening to 500 quid deals off of some irrelevant cars, of course, not so interesting.
When I watched it as a kid, news segment was least favourite to me... Now after billion rewatching and me getting bit older I absolutely love it! I also love it that I did not watch it that closely all those years ago so I absolutely adored wathcing news again
I mean here we are, 10, 15 years later watching basically the same thing just with the lads on the other side of the camera. Top Gear invented the Video Podcast before the iPod!
This channel is going from strength to strength! Bravo Ben and the team! Rich and Jim were fantastic guests. Great to here the stories from the old top gear days. I could listen to the three of you for hours. Magic!
What a lovely way to spend 3/4 of an hour. So glad you’re doing this Ben, amazing to see you doing your own thing, could listen to you and the chaps talk cars all day. X
I love how you can hear the recy stories and see how they have become bits in the show. The steering clear of places, the gold teeth and the cop cars. Amazing interview for fans!
Great work Ben and team this was great 😂 the story of May getting lost on a roundabout and following a random Range Rover is hilarious. You must have so much behind the scenes insights, would love to know more
It's weird about the news because I loved the news and I thought everyone did. So many legendary jokes and moments there. I enjoyed the news more than most of the car reviews and other segments.
Its good to see three clearly good mates with nostalgic history, fondly discussing nostalgic history, solidly good and hume interview with genuinely interesting nuggets of "wow i never knew that"
The news was always a hit or a miss, either hilarious or extremely boring. Not a podcast guy but this was super fun to watch and listen to. Wish all the best to Ben and the lads.
Very entertaining in a relaxing way. I sometimes listen to Smith and Sniff Podcast. Also Collecting Cars and Behind the Glass. The Smoking Tyre is good too. I saw you last year for the EV company that’s high performance like the one I taking over Bugatti: Mattee Rimac. You could review new performance cars for your channel. Also the he inherent difference between front; rear wheel and AWD cars and how they behave at speed in a track and how this influences how they do legally on a main road, or in an emergency situation like a skid.
Ben talking about meeting Michael Schumacher is sort of unreal, for me as a kid and beyond that the Stig was the ultimate racing driver. Obviously it makes complete sense that he'd have Schumacher as a hero, still very unreal and fascinating to hear about!
28:40 to 29:30 was the hardest I’ve laughed in years, the way you guys talk about Top Gear from the 80s and 90s, I had that same experience but with Top Gear in the 2000s and 2010s, all the insights from this were extremely compelling and I would love to hear more
Loved it. Entertaining and and fun to watch, thanks Ben. The discomfort when asked about Jeremy 😂 Looking forward to the next and hopefully many more. Awesome work.
I have a picture of myself with a green Ferrari station wagon (family car basically) in Goodwood in 2001. :) I think there were just a few of them produced.
Loved this episode. Having watched all of the early UK top gear episodes with Clarkson multiple times this video I was eating like candy, Couldn't get enough of it looking forward to the next one
A fantastic podcast!!! I could listen to you three chewing the fat for hours on end. Fantastic times, when Top Gear was at its peak, a fascinating insight in to the world of the Stig & Co. Probably the golden age of televised motor entertainment, now only matched by superb YT episodes, presented by yourselves.
This is brilliant i thought it would possibly be terrible! - i loved top gear know all the episodes and characters you were talking about ! it was so eye opening funny , nostalgic, fresh , very entertaining - loved it- Please do more !! Winners superb!
Thanks for this great video, I love to listen to all the stories behind Top Gear and from people involved with it. Those bits about Mr Wilman especially, what a mysterious and fascinating persona he is - the scheming mastermind himself. No wonder Top Gear had been such a success under his rule (and still is under a different name). Would love to see Wilman on this podcast if you manage!
I thoroughly enjoyed this, and I have just got Richard's audiobook which I suspect is going to be an excellent listen. I saw he also has another Top Gear related book 'Epic Failures' so I'll be getting that as well if Bombshell is good. Count me a new subscriber Ben.
@@samuelgarrod8327 Hi Sam. I have listened to the above books now, and they were thoroughly enjoyable, although a lot of the stories were same as we heard in these videos, I am not sure how to answer your 'Where have you been' question, but I'll gladly tell you if you could give me some context. I have some motoring stories that would make even Richard's ears burn. 😀
Yh so me an Jim still keep in touch with the old production team, people you would know, and go get together for a meal and a few drinks, Stig. :why am I just hearing about it?! I never got a invite.. 😂😂😂
I noticed there was always pretty women in the background of the studio segments. Enjoyed this video and found it funny when they both almost didn't know what to say when asked about Clarkson.
STIG?? Which one?? I always would initially think of the children's book - Stig Of The Dump. Written by the late Clive King, it relates the tale of a bored schoolboy, Barney, who meets a caveman called Stig living in an unofficial rubbish dump in a chalk pit. The two become unlikely friends and learn to communicate, as Barney helps Stig to refurbish his cave home with recycled rubbish from the dump. I absolutely loved this book as a child myself and hearing that name always conjures a mixture of a juvenile cavemen and Ben Collins - in the nicest possible way, of course!
Some say, he once interviewed James Corden when he was on a Ryanair flight, and that he thinks Michelin stars are awarded for acts of spectacular drifting.
To be honest, I enjoyed the NEWS immensely. I can understand that the segment might have not been the most enjoyable to produce or other wise support but I found the interaction of the 3 stars very entertaining and this endeared them personally to me all the more.

Thank you, yeah great people and stuff i’ve never heard - loved their stories
This had more chemistry than the current top gear
They did well not to freeze it was baltic in that hangar! 🥶

I realy like this episode. And get to know wath realy hapend. I beg for More like this! Thanks guys. 😎👍

Enjoyed that. Love porters knowledge of cars. I bet he can still remember all the phone numbers of his childhood friends

Huge fan of Richard’s. This will be a good one.
He’s a bright chap, hides it well
This is great, 3 blokes talking about cars and no one moaning.
I think they moan a bit in the next one - stay tuned 😂

And that's why Top gear was brilliant, amazing trio behind the scenes.
Richard could provide an 80's Cyberman voice!
Well done,Ben! Looking forward to Part 2 and more stories!

Great to hear some of the stories. What a journey it has been.
What a great behind the scenes conversation between 3 inside baseball members of the TG team
34:22 wow Christian just standing there next to The Stig and smiling 😁

The US special was one of the funniest, from start to end.
I'd watch you talk with Top Gear crew members for years on end Ben! Please continue to make more if the opportunities arise!
John Bentley is such a lovely Man , I took him a Press Car once in Birmingham .. Bloody nice bloke 😁😁
The legend
Really enjoyed that, a bit like a pub chat where people let stuff slip that they probably shouldn't! 👊😂
Excellent stories. Could have listened to them all day!
Loved it. Entertaining and and fun to watch, thanks Ben.
The discomfort when asked about Jeremy 😂

Awesome work.
You guys should do this again. Fun to watch, and looking forward to the next segment.
Brilliant video! Great guests and insight into the good ole TG. Thank you.
I loved this interview! Thank you for posting!! Look forward to part 2 👍🏻
Your conclusion is absolutely 100% spot on!
Great stuff, Ben. Looking forward to part two...and that's Porter's book bought!
Amazing interview. Love hearing from old top gear and grand tour staff. Would love if Andy Wilman came around
Utterly brilliant, I could listen to this all day, thanks
Well done Ben, good choice of guests, Richard is always good mileage and Jim was diamond.
Looking forward to part 2.....
This was awesome. Cannot wait for next part
What?! For real? You were on a podcast and RUclips all this time?!
Damn that made me happy!
Poscast is new & evolving ! Loving the RUclips - Stig unleashed!!

This is one of the best car videos I have seen , great show guys.
31:41 that picture of Vettel is well chosen 😂
Really entertaining and a great listen. Well done Ben, another hit mate. Great work. Oh and Porsche being like hrt 😅 quality

Stockroom sorting. Love it
Ah yes, Thursday evenings on BBC - Top gear, Top of the Pops and Red Dwarf! Brilliant.
Thank you and I love this!

Yeah, right, he was a liability to Top Gear in its later stages, and it became worse under The Grand Tour, with all their staged middle finger shit.
so much valueable info about top gear, great vid
For a second i thought the chairs were carbon fiber because of the lighting. Now i think that's actually a great idea
Awesome interview, really interesting and fun!
24:03 OG Robot Stig story 😂
This is such entertaining stuff Ben, Thankyou! Would absolutely love to spend an hour in a room talking shit with you.
I think you boys should should arrange another meet up and get another show planned between you !! Be a huge hit I would imagine:)

See now I always thought the Stig was just Gits backwards, describing the chaps perfectly.
Technically, the boy's name "Stig" means "voyager" or "wanderer" rather than "pilgrim;" but I prefer your derviation!
Great fun. You REALLY need to rejig the sound levels between speakers. The differences in perceived volume are very irritating. Sub'd.
the Schumacher story at 29:58 ... lost my mind at how sharp he was about racing
would love to see RIchard Porter and The Stig in Cosmo on the Triangle. Gourmet
