I lost a brother to suicide because he feared becoming homeless, living in a tent etc. A good friend of mine lost his housing recently and just moved into his van. I volunteered to bring him coffee/food and hangout several times to “help” the transition. We’ve since worked out a deal that he comes over once a week and gets a shower, does laundry and we have dinner and he helps me out with stuff around the house. He parks in a safe lot nearby. Maintaining our friendship through these tough times is really benefiting us both and a real blessing. I couldn’t help my brother, I was too late, but I learned that I CAN do something to help someone going through it so that even though circumstances change they can retain their dignity and know they are seen and cared for no judge. Isn’t this really what we all want? Good friends who offer more than opinions? I may be doing what he’s doing in a few years and he will be a great resource in addition to a true friend. Let’s all get more local and community-minded.
Why didn't you allow your friend to live with you until he got back on is feet? That's the first thing that came to my mind, especially after your brother's suicide? How would you feel if the situation was reversed?
Especially how hot it is now a days. A shower once a week is good but it's HOT 🥵🔥 OUTSIDE. Maybe it's not her home or her living situation isn't suitable for the friend to stay until he/she get on their feet.@@user-lf2lf6wy4z

I'm a 35 year old man who isn't married and doesn't have kids. I don't own a house, both my cars are 20 plus years old and paid off, never went to college and live by myself in a cheap but decent apartment. I just go to work and go home and save what I can. Ever since 2012 I knew that the economy was gonna get worse and plus I've seen friends and family struggle that have too many responsibilities. The American dream isn't worth it in this day and age in my opinion.
No joke, im willingly about to go homeless for a secondd time. Cost of living is way too high and i miss having freedom with my money. Paying $1,870/month just for a decent place to live is absurd. Back to living out of my work truck I go. These bills are holding me back and slowing down my long term goals.
The summer months are tough on 90+ days, i feel like its alot easier to stay warm than it is to stay cool . I guess that depends on your location too , 100 usually being the hottest and the coldest around 20 degrees where im at
Im from Mexico, I knew since many years ago, world would be hectic and collapsing. Im in my 30's and I moved to the countryside some years ago, I barely need money to live here, since I could build a house. Blessings to every one!
Been homeless for almost 20 years. (No lie) I call it FREEDOM. No bills . It has gotten harder… I’m gonna be sixty in two weeks man where did the time go… much love
Hopefully you live in the south or out west, where I'm at I see the homeless people been out here for years but in the winter I don't see how they can take it. I wouldn't mind occasionally handing out a few dollars but I'm broke over child support and I'm staying somewhere that brakes me every month so I keep going in circles.
People need to stop wasting money on things that don't matter! Hair, shoes, bags, make-up, lashes, nails, brows, concert tickets, and keeping wealthy people wealthy.
But if people stop then the basic employees that work those jobs are now out of work. People that wasted money on school to do hair and nails now suffer. There is no answer to this

We're being coralled into digital currency and cyber-life but the fact remains that you can't get a debit card without a physical address. I was homeless or have been a rolling stone for a long time. We live in a parasitic system and they'll squeeze until there's nothing left.
Nowadays you can tap to pay with several apps that provided prepaid debit so that's not really an excuse. Smart phones start at like 30$ for a cheap android at Walmart. P.o boxes aren't that expensive if you have a job and a car.

I’d probably do that, but I’m not sure if that would be a good idea. I don’t trust people these days. I had a female roommate once. It didn’t end well.
@@Knightrem she wanted to use my private computer. With my important work. I came from film school. She charged me $900 a month for her spare room in her 2 bedroom apartment. I stayed 8 weeks. So that’s $1800. With that money she could have easily bought her own pc. Or an iPhone 4. This was way back in 2011. Instead she wanted to take that rent money to renovate her apartment. She went crazy after establishing my own privacy and said no. Then I had to immediately find a new place to live. I could have ended up on the streets, all because of a girl who turned out to be a user. Never trusted a woman again. Especially a feminist. Women need to respect men. That’s the problem with today’s society. Egalitarianism has destroyed western men, and men have had it. If women want to be strong and independent, they can pay for themselves. If I ever let a woman live with me, she needs to be submissive and marriage material. And not have slept with different boys. That kind of woman today doesn’t exist anymore. And it’s sad. Because I know my true worth as a man. When women complain on social media about why they can’t find a good man… I just shrug. These same women probably used and turned away many gold men for a chad. That girl who I stayed with, she didn’t want me. It was just my turn. And I learned never to put myself in that position again!

I hate that I am a young man and discouraged to work or learn a skill to enter society in a meaningful way!
I am arguably the most prepared I can be. I live in a 28 ft travel trailer. I have always been interested in the tiny home movement. Last summer I bought a 1972 Holiday travler in solid condition but it had a leak in the back and needed a complete rehab of the plumbing and electrical. The front kitchen area was in usable condition. It was $1500. I completely replaced the finish flooring, rebuilt the back bedroom, new appliances, new plumbing, new electrical panel with added circuits for all the modern electronics, new toilet, new front couch. I am probably 5k into it now and still need to completely and professionally redo the roof. I patched the leaks and tarped it for now. I plan to do the roof next spring when I have the money. The trailer is parked on a family member’s property now hooked up to their electric and water. They allowed me to install the proper electrical outlet on their house myself and I give them money towards the bill. Well water is free so I don’t have to pay for water. My mail goes to the PO Box associated with the address of the house and it is also my legal address for license, registration, work, etc. even though I live in an RV I don’t consider myself homeless because I have a permanent address and I’m connected to services like electricity, water, internet, etc. it’s just a tiny home to me. Obviously I own the RV outright and if something should happen where I need to move it I can move everything I own for the cost of a U-Haul rental. I live in the state of insanity, I mean New York where everything is stupidly expensive. I see no point in pissing money away in rent when I can own an RV and owe NOTHING to anyone. My housing expenses consist of an electric bill. You can’t beat that with a stick! Eventually I will buy a piece of land somewhere in Tennessee and park my RV there and build a deck and a carport type roof and at some point I will probably buy a newer RV or tiny home but if things continue the way they are going I will likely never have a classic sticks and bricks house and I’m ok with that if it means I can own what I’m living in, even if I might change the ground under it.
That's pretty much how wife and I want to live but have to buy some land in county, too many restrictions in the city. We own our property but it's actually wayy too small. And we want to have small game meat animals. And have a garden, can/preserve foods, and such. Because the economy truly sucks and I'm not very good with people... But I do have a 32' camper that I need to remodel also. I'm wanting to rip everything out of it to customize it. But it's at my mother's, about 45 minutes from where I live. Have to get my truck repaired here soon, and need to get a couple buildings built on my property first as soon as all this heat passes for the year. But I'm trying to think of how to lighten the weight of the camper. Thinking of putting in maybe pink foam insulation and covering with paint for the interior walls and possibly ceiling. And wiring recessed lights into the ceiling and there's a leak in a rear end corner I need to fix anyhow. But the kitchen sink and such, I'm going to have to I guess leave as is. But I'm thinking solar panels for electric. I don't want to have any bills what so ever. Because utility company owners are screwing their customers by raising costs. It's something that doesn't have to be raised. Only because they are greedy...
It kills me that this is a serious topic nowadays! A thousand dollars is nothing today! It takes $90.00 to fill my gas tank, groceries are $300-400 a week, I can't afford to smoke or drink anymore... If I wasn't born in the 1950's and had a good Government job for 30 years I don't know how my life would have turned out? I feel so sorry for the younger generations, it just keep getting harder and harder...where's it going to end? Yet, the younger generation has new, large $$$$.$$ housing, new babies, multiple new cars and SUV's in their driveways...Boats, motorcycles, side-x-sides, jet skies, snowmobiles, ect, ect, ect...who should I really feel sorry for, and how are they paying for all this???

Decade ago I sat and visualized myself homeless just to see how I'd survive. If you know you're going to be homeless you need to IMMEDIATELY get a UPS address, so you can have a "resident address", there's also a PO Box loophole. You need to get a free government phone, or a cheap android phone then put it on a $10 plan or use it when near "free wifi". You need to go to a library throughout the day and sit in areas that aren't populated to draw attention, especially to stay warm in the winter. Get a cheap gym membership with showers before becoming homeless, if you have a car live in it, i'd sleep in well lit areas at walmart, or other places, use your car for gig work and work at an actual job, you need a street address to work, that's where UPS (mentioned earlier) comes in handy. Practice intermittent fasting, and eating once per day or alternate day fasting to eat every other day, this will train you to avoid hunger.

Its disgusting that anyone has to live under threat of homelessness at any given time. In a healthy society, we would take care of our people with universal basic income/housing. Life can turn into a nightmare very quickly without such a safety net.
It's not healthy. It's an illusion of a dream but it's a nightmare to pay for a home 40 years and still dont own it. Or pay yearly taxes on a car that I cant drive if u cant pay registration fees and taxes. It's a nightmare.

Right on my friend, had painting business in calif.worked hard for many years,I needed to save money,to finish my retirment home,in the caribbean, the only way i could ,push the project was to live in my safari van for12 years.not fun but i needed to make a final effort to get out of Calif..I would sleep in the motel parking lots, had 4 motels i would rotate in,so i would not attract attention.enter about 8.oopm leave 5.30 am. Central calif. Coast.I could have afforded a nice apt.in avila bch.was my own choice to live like that.faith in Christ saw me through.the worst part is not the living. Conditions, but it is the public humiliation, and the embarrisment you feel from friends and new aqaintances.
This is still the playing out of 2008, they kicked the can until it became an anvil. I went to college, I'm 44 and am preparing for homelessness. I see the homeless increase around me every day.
When I got laid off in 2010, I started a one-man business cleaning short sale homes. It was hard work but I treated it like job. I was on the job the same time every day, took a 30 min. lunch just like a regular job and kept a daily schedule. It worked out and helped me get through a very tough time. By the way, I have Ph.D. but I was and am grateful that God gave me the strength to do that kind of work because I was in my early 50s. I would do it again if I had to. I worked as a janitor and got through school doing manual labor.
Good on you Mr. David for making it work!!!! I’ve learned through some documentaries that many people with advanced degrees are homeless and on tough times.. I have a Master’s in Education and had to spend some time in my car too ~ I fell ill a year after graduating, couldn’t work and had no family or friend support ~ To be honest, it was a refreshing change, I’m not advocating for car living, but I got some of the best sleep ever!!!
@@Brandy3319 Thanks for the response. I hope you are doing better now. I wish you all the best in life. Yes. A degree doesn't ensure that we get a job, it only gives us some more choices. I brought a little suv just in case I have to live in it as well. I hope I don't have to but it certainly beats a tent.
Start your land search now, it took me 5 yrs of looking to find the right pc for the right price. Find a parcel far enough out where there are no restrictions and or zoning so you can do whatever you want without regulations.
Your wide variety of friends and family will face the enviable....broke, no car, homeless with over $20,000. In debt. The middle class will fall harder than the poor class.
Do not sell ur car !!!! If u need rent if ur struggling w rent ! Always keep the car before rent it’s harder to not be able to move around just stuck in a house w a car u can hustle make money
Remember, life is about the journey, never mind the struggle. The Lord will provide if you regard Him as your Savior. Remember people have STRUGGLED in history. If everyone committed suicide during the Great Depression none of us would be here. Life IS a simulation. It is TEMPORARY on earth but ETERNAL after this! DON'T MISS THE POINT. MONEY helps, sure but it isn't EVERYTHING. WE NEED TO SEE EACH OTHER AS PEOPLE AND HELP EACH OTHER. Keep your eyes on JESUS.
Hi there, I am new to the channel and this is a timely video as I have recently been looking in to buying a larger car (SUV) to live in. I have a good job and have had this job for over 20 years but I have never felt totally comfortable to the point where this topic doesn’t come across my mind, particularly during economic downturns; and now we have this terrible economy. I like many of you know what is coming next, and that is mass lay-offs across all sectors and that knowledge demands that you prepare…NOW!
People are really struggling out here ! Unfortunately, I lost my job , but I thank God for my husband who has a nice income .. I am praying for all of us !
God didnt give us the spirit of fesr but of power and love. As long as i can keep a roof over my head in the name of jesus im going to keep one. Me and my son have combined our Trucker incomes to save and make it i have my suv which is paid off. Peoples jobs are not matching the cost of living. Band together if you can
2008 recession really blindsided me, I was going through a divorce and in the process of losing my paid for house. I ended up renting a room for three and a half years and lived in my work truck for 4 months. There was little work in my area for carpenters. It was a really tough time and things didn't really pick up till the summer of 2015 . I'm back on my feet and I'm better prepared for the next recession.
I was paying over 2k a month in rent. So, I moved out, threw some stuff away, and placed a few things in storage, and moved into my van. I have an LA Fitness gym membership, and they have all the amenities I need. Weights, showers swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and basketball ball court. I'm single, so this makes my life sooo much simpler, and far less stressful. That rent was kicking my butt. 😅😅😅
If it happens again, I'm going into the woods and staying there. Just not worth it anymore. Will look forward to the mansion in heaven. No homelesness, there. Or prisons, for that matter. ✝️👍
The problem with living in a van or car is where to go to sleep. Where I live here in California if your homeless and live in your van where ever you go they will run you off .
Please read my comments above. I have lived in a bus, and RV, a motor home, station wagon, large sedan and now a subcompact. I have NEVER been stopped living in a sub compact. I can also push it to start and it is easy to get unstuck when in the snow, water or mud.
I have bought many tents and camping supplies like showers, cooking supplies, and even a cook stove that runs off of kerosene, a pizza oven, just everything one would need to live in the great outdoors. We never know what could happen and when so just best to be prepared.
It's scary being all alone and on the streets with no one to call. no family, friends or anyone who cares - choices really do come with consequences. gee, I thought they were just kidding bout that
I remember telling my mother this while I was in tears. I ended up on the street, and I broke down and called her. I told her I don't have any friends to call, because I thought I was doing right by not having any friends, friends cost money and they have you in situations you wouldn't ordinarily be in and they bring drama that you don't need around you. As long as you have a steady job, a place to live and a little money in the bank, that plan works out very well for you. But the downside to that is, when you hit hard times like I did, you won't have anybody to call.
All I own is a tent (5kg), a sleeping bag (2kg) a backpack with clothes (10kg) and this phone. I have no bills. Its relieving. I work for food on farms. Im 32 years old.

America standards of living is not the rest of the world standards of living! Let me explain what I mean In America you are considered homeless if you live in a car/tent etc But let's look at tribal living We have people who live in mud bamboo leaf huts in parts of Africa/Amazon are they homeless people living in caves in Afghanistan are they homeless people living in teepees in Siberia Russia where it's very cold are they homeless The difference between us and them is that they hunt for their food and we don't but don't forget when there's hunting season/fishing season we do! So we can agree that some people in America hunt/fish and also grow their own food etc We wasn't put on mother earth to pay bills every 30 days Let's look at inserts/ animals etc Have we ever seen a ant Bird or Dee pay another ant bird or deer to live but yet and still we pay other people to live on mother earth Learn how to hunt fish and grow your own food You don't need toilet paper, use a personal wash cloth as our parents did for us when we were babies or buy a bidet Buy a flat screen protector instead of a flat screen You can use baking soda to wash your body and brush your teeth and for deodorant Life isn't hard we make Please feel free to add on Create a good
True comment. We are told that we've had it so good for so long and we are ingrates (politicians and others say this). Baking soda 👍 I've been buying it up like crazy.
Sorry about your brother
Should have told your Brother he could live on your couch or turned the livingroom into his room
Why didn't you allow your friend to live with you until he got back on is feet? That's the first thing that came to my mind, especially after your brother's suicide? How would you feel if the situation was reversed?

You need to get a free government phone, or a cheap android phone then put it on a $10 plan or use it when near "free wifi". You need to go to a library throughout the day and sit in areas that aren't populated to draw attention, especially to stay warm in the winter. Get a cheap gym membership with showers before becoming homeless, if you have a car live in it, i'd sleep in well lit areas at walmart, or other places, use your car for gig work and work at an actual job, you need a street address to work, that's where UPS (mentioned earlier) comes in handy. Practice intermittent fasting, and eating once per day or alternate day fasting to eat every other day, this will train you to avoid hunger.
my house is paid off. Living with wife and little daughter, saving as much as we can still almost my salary disapeers (western european country). my wife is since 2023 a stay at home mother, we almost don't spend gas, almost never go out for dinner, onoy new clothes for the little one and cheap not often and still the money vanishes. The difference only in a year is astonishing due to inflation. I only can imagine people that have debts like mortgage, car payments or loans!!!
Same we don't spend money on anything except grocerys an paper goods like toilet paper/home necessities we don't eat out ever never ever don't drink coffee don't smoke cigarettes or weed don't drink alchol we don't ever go out an do anything unless it's 100% free don't go on vacation unless someone invites us an is paying we lucky have no debt an no car payment but it's like dam pur money goes sooo fast wit just food an gas an necessities cuz inflation like we can't cut back anymore there nothing to cut back we live super frugal we have no friends we legit stay hoke an do nothing
Globally the world populated has doubled and the cost of living continues to be doubling! Troubling times ahead of us! We must 🙏!
I agree you should plan for homelessness just be prepared just in case
I have an apartment and an income and I'm 'STILL' thinking about what I would do if it all went away. I literally have a whole plan mapped out. It's crazy we have to think that way.
I’m homeless right now sleeping in my car. Job doesn’t pay enough for me to get an apartment.
Sorry about your situation.
Keep faith man but its crazy how hard it is to find a good job cuz they not even calling back , rent so expensive , food so expensive
I agree 100%...see how thousands of Van Life Nomads live in their vehicles comfortably and rid themselves of the everyday financial pressures, a Cargo Van or MiniVan would give you the most room to live in and affordable, joining a gym like Planet Fitness would give you a place to maintain your hygiene at a reasonable monthly cost, adding a mini Solar Generator will make you life much easier and make it seem more homely with you basic electronics...there is a way out and hope living this lifestyle....best of all it's your Home and you can go Anywhere with your home...
I live in my van and have an LA Fitness membership. So less stressful 😊

Yes, I’m getting ready to do camping in my minivan, with my husband. We camped when our children were growing up so I’m not new to that. Back then we had tents or campers. I thought we were doing decent as we’re nearing retirement, but health costs and increase in cost to just live has me even wondering. It’s good to have a few options available.
I have been homeless since I was a kid. Rule number one you must be able to adapt. So best if you start hiking, camping etc. if you become homeless you will have your gear. Shelter, sleeping food storage, water purification system. And most important get your mind and body used to the elements. Oh and basic wildlife survival skills will be great, as well as self defense. Because desperate people live in the shadows
Lucky you. I have been domesticated since birth & have no real survival skills for wild life. I’m still learning though

Live in a small town? Lazy? Walk Everyday? Yea that’s not doable

I might live off my bike, and use my local bike path to go from town to town, since I can teach breaking, and do performances to make a little cash on the side.

I am ready sir. Bring it on! Rock and Roll! Air, Water, Food, Clothing, Medicines. Shelter and a Plan. No job for 15 years. I have lived in my car for a few years and I am ready. it is a Sub compact with a stick shift and it carries Everything that I need. I tried larger vehicles and learned that I do not need more space. Many advantages to smaller. I can literally push to start on flat ground.. My bed extends from the rear trunk to the front seat. I use home made black curtains for privacy. High has mileage if you need to drive and leather seats for comfort. Bag ice for cooling in the summer. I can park in a residential area and no one has any idea. I can boon dock anywhere. I do not carry along extra gas. I do not need it with >40 mpg, gas is stinky, takes up room and flammable. it just gets in the way whole actually living in my car. If a cop checks me out, it does not look like i am homeless, no reason for guns out and nasty attitude.
100. Been living in a Civic for 6 years, with a small detour staying with a relative during pandemic and then a homeless shelter after he assaulted me. I didn't intend for it to be this way but you are correct. I think about getting a van at times, probably more for day use and then still keep the car and go sleep in it because the benefits are huge as you say. Work van + sleep in car, doesn't sound bad (my profession is computer / IT work, but I'm a dish washer now for lack of space to do IT on the daily). Thanks.

I’ve already experimented with living in my small car (2004 Chrysler PT cruiser I’m over 6 feet tall) for one year back in 2019/20 during the start of the pandemic so I’m confident I can live that lifestyle. I work a job that was wearing me down among other life experiences and so I gave up on everything except working. During the time of living in my car I saved a significant amount of money and continued to save money after being housed again right up until this day. I’ll be able to collect pension in about six more years along with money I continue to save, I’m looking to live in my vehicle again during retirement not because I have to, but because I find it makes the most sense in today’s troubled housing market.
Thats an intelligent thought, plus if your neighbors start cutting up, you can drive away from it.

Never be ashamed of having a roommate or moving back in with family.
In a healthy society, we'd have tight knit famlities and communities. They have been decimated.
For those who have no money to buy a car (like me) buy an electric bike and build a bicycle caravan/camper. Im doing it now and holly molly it cost nothing yet provides me a home with a mini kitchen, bed can even take shower in. Be creative folks and don't think about what others might say. You don't need a job. You just need a way to get money. Find odd jobs or start your own small business.
I prep as if I am going camping. Get the basics. A sleeping bag, food, water.
My uncle, when he was wanting to move out of his parents house, lived in his truck at a campground.
I realized this years ago, because you can have a job and still not be able to afford an apartment or house; The monthly income a lot of people make is only slightly more than what rent cost; So you either can't get approved for an apartment or you get approved but will only have about $200 or $300 for yourself after bills are paid; Insanity
trouble is- in the future- what is accessible to the homeless now- will be gone.... most retailers will be history- resources and provisions will be scarce and people will be desperate- no this won't be a recession or depression- it is going to be far far worse- plan carefully. even in the best of times in America- we are all one serious health issue away from homelessness and bankruptcy - with the exception of the privileged.... now the horizon is on another level... and sadly those responsible for this will remain comfy.
Things are very scary. And they're getting scarier.

Compare that to the 4 nordic country's(sweden norway finland denmark) that dont even have 1% poverty or even se-asia Thailand that have 6% poverty and its falling every year
This is why i have been trying to stress to ppl to not to have kids. Bringing someone into this mess is not a good idea. But who cares.
Maybe try to help people or protest governments that make people poor instead of telling others what to do . When’s the best time to have a kid never ? All I need is the heavenly father. I'm not putting my trust in another human being. God provides for the birds of the air what they eat and drink. We should not worry. I'm training in obedience now and learning to listen to his voice in everything I do. What I don't need is falling away as well people I no longer can be in company of. I didn't remove any of it God did. His spirit has changed me. He is protecting his own in mist of spiritual shake ups that are starting. I am packing light. As many times i have testimony of God providing something out of nothing. He opens doors no man can can shut, and shuts doors no man can open. He is controller of every spirit, good and and the ones turned bad. He is in full control. I trust god and he has removed my worries and I'm standing in his supernatural peace. I will not walk in fear but in the love of the Lord. God bless you all as well❤

It's scary being all alone and on the streets with no one to call. no family, friends or anyone who cares - choices really do come with consequences. gee, I thought they were just kidding bout that
Well, in this case, the choices of the few hyper wealthy is causing trickle down consequences for the rest of people globally.
The problem is that the system is making the situation you described … a loner homeless on your own… the only choice more and more people have.
@@timothydowd4180 I agree, but just because they create the playground don't mean we are forced to play in it?
I remember telling my mother this while I was in tears. I ended up on the street, and I broke down and called her. Having been homeless twice in my lifetime, Let's just say I have more than a little experience in that area when SHTF.
America standards of living is not the rest of the world standards of living!
Let me explain what I mean
In America you are considered homeless if you live in a car/tent etc
But let's look at tribal living
We have people who live in mud bamboo leaf huts in parts of Africa/Amazon are they homeless people living in caves in Afghanistan are they homeless people living in teepees in Siberia Russia where it's very cold are they homeless
The difference between us and them is that they hunt for their food and we don't but don't forget when there's hunting season/fishing season we do! So we can agree that some people in America hunt/fish and also grow their own food etc
We wasn't put on mother earth to pay bills every 30 days
Let's look at inserts/ animals etc
Have we ever seen a ant Bird or Dee pay another ant bird or deer to live but yet and still we pay other people to live on mother earth
Learn how to hunt fish and grow your own food
You don't need toilet paper, use a personal wash cloth as our parents did for us when we were babies or buy a bidet
Buy a flat screen protector instead of a flat screen
You can use baking soda to wash your body and brush your teeth and for deodorant
Life isn't hard we make
Please feel free to add on
Create a good
