Great tutorial. New to Inkscape so I think your idea for smaller videos on each LPE would really help me and possibly others. Can’t wait. Thanks and keep up the fantastic work.
Wow, this is great! Just the LPE Measurement tool alone is worth it. I have been making a series of line drawings for Sci-fi vehicle models and the current measurement tool, the Ruler, is really not that good but this is a real game changer for me. The dash segments for showing a blind dimension is a big help too. Thanks for sharing this and I am very much looking forward to the next Inkscape tutorial.
That's great, John. I really think 1.0 could be a good option for certain engineering design projects, especially when just needing to be able to share/communicate plans.
Thank you TJ for you all tutorial videos especially Insckape.. I'm struggle last night to doing Path.. and today you upload new videos about path.. I will follow you new tutorial videos.
Thank You, TJ! Aside from a bit of techno-speak on the part of the designers ("Hole Factor" indeed!), this really looks like a great update. And your idea about mini-tuts for each is great! Maybe make a playlist on your channel--?
The arc you show at about 10:10, can that be used to create a pointy oval shape, if you duplicate and flip? I followed other tutorials that showed doing it by creating circles, aligning, difference type sequence. Seemed strange there wasn't a way to make an oval with points on the ends
I was trying the bend effect on some text, and the green line went wayyyy to the left so i couldnt bent it in the center, it woudl just bend on the left, i think maybe my settings were messed up, but any tips?
Thank you TJ! I appreciate your teaching style. So much to learn! I do have a question--I imported a jpg of a painting I did, and I want to be able to cut it out (deleting the background) to use for a picture book page. I used to be able to do that using Clipping Mask in Illustrator, but couldn't get it to work in InkScape. Any suggestions? Thank you for your time! CH
I'm trying to create an SVG file from inkscape to use at a printers. It is a text design. How do I save the color of the text in the file? When I upload the file to the printer software it only shows in black. thanks
when you click on the + to add a path effect, you get a window with all the previews. I just installed Inkscape a few days ago and do not have that window. how did you get the window? (on Linux)
What am I missing in LPE Measure Segments? No numbers/text. The lines & arrows are present & responding but no text. I've changed & moved position of font but nothing. My (2nd) download of 1.0 IS quite glitchy - this morning my repeating error was "no disk" - but pretty sure no text/numbers. One of the main features I need & why I'm riding out these little blips. Pretty sure it's me but where the heck . . .?
Thanks for the insight on Inkscape 1.0. Is it possible to add nodes to the path on which the Gekko is linked (s-shaped instead of just an arc), or can that path have only two nodes one at each end?
That's a great video, but could you at least mention LPE you show here in the description? I came looking for Attach Path LPE demonstration I've seen somewhere but apparently it's not here :(
Unrelated: Do you think covering OBS Studio would be a good fit for your channel? Lots of folks have to record videos with some advanced features, but there aren't - I think - that many good tutorials on this.
Hey TJFree. I know the olive series is pretty old, but I wanted to ask a question regarding it. As someone who is starting a youtube channel, and wants to mask their voice. I need help on how to change my voice using Olive Video Editor. So it would be really appreciated if you replied. Anyways love your videos.
Good question. The audio tools in Olive are a bit limited currently for something like that. I'd recommend doing the audio editing / voice altering in Audacity. Its also free and open source, and can input audio directly from video files. Then just export the edited audio and bring it back into Olive to recombine it with the video.
Hi Geoff! Good question. No meaning really, tjfree . com was just a short (easy to remember?) domain name that I found when starting the channel and decided to use it for the channel branding.
I dont know if there is a way to deform a bunch of triangles (all the same triangle) to make it look like in perspective, but the result will always be triangles with 3 nodes and straight lines btw them, bc i have tried before with the envelope effect but it adds extra nodes on the paths and the paths get curved so the triangles end up overlaping. In case I wasnt clear, I am talking about patterns of triangles like those of some wallpapers.
I really love the way your explain things in a way anyone can understand.
Great tutorial. New to Inkscape so I think your idea for smaller videos on each LPE would really help me and possibly others. Can’t wait. Thanks and keep up the fantastic work.
Best LPE tutorial on youtube right now. Thank you. All of your stuff is great
Finally I now understand "object to path" thanks!
Glad to hear it.
I just started using Inkscape, and so far I love it! Thanks for sharing these tips.

Thanks TJ, nice tips . Looking forward for more on other LPE
Great video. Great explanations and examples. Look forward to learning more from you!
Your inkscape tutorial is really very helpful. Thanks a lot.
Thank You, TJ! Aside from a bit of techno-speak on the part of the designers

Thank you for this video 👍, please make more videos on the live path effects.
Looks extremely useful. Thanks.
A great tutorial has just begun...
😊😊😊💯💯💯
Did you ever get around to doing those videos for each of the path effects? That could maybe even be its own playlist! Haha.
Thanks for the helpful information.
Great information. Please do short vids on each LPE.
Wow. Thank you for the tutorial.
Awesome as always 👌
Thanks Mohamed!
Absolutely incredible.
A hidden gem !
It was sooo helpful ❤
Thank you for the tutorial.
excellent video sir

Thank you please teach the all path effects
thanks so much for the video, I have a channel, and you are really helping me out.

I think there's a clip option in inkscape too, look in the edit tab
my inkscape is shy of been filmed every time I do a screen capture i have press alt key to select object please what do you think I am doing wrong
Thanks.

I'm struggling with how to undo a path effect. Everytime i draw something new, it's already applied in that shape. I don't know how to undo
Awesome. Thanks!

Thank you for the tutorial.
Can I substitute inkscape for an architectural cad
Does the newest version 1.2 has these too?
Awesome vid. what do set default parameters do in the LPEs?? Edit: okay, they set the current values as default for next lpe
Thanks for the video. Do you have a paid tutorial for Inkscape?
Excelente explicação! Obrigada!
hmm

Good question. Yes, the path you link to can have more nodes than just two. You can also link to a closed path, such as a circle.
Can you please make a video on Perspective envelope..
I am unable to put my text ( converted to path) on ribbons and vintage shapes
That's a great video, but could you at least mention LPE you show here in the description? I came looking for Attach Path LPE demonstration I've seen somewhere but apparently it's not here :(

Yes, I appreciate the suggestion. I think OBS tutorials would be great, and hope to make and upload some in the near future.
Thanks for your tutorials - they're great :) One question - do these effects carry over to other programs like Illustrator?
i can't get my text to link to the ellipse.

Thank you so much! I am so surprised you replied. Love what your doing. Much Love !
The Shotcut editor has the Pitch audio filter that you can use to mask your voice along with other audio effects.
How to save custom brush?
Thank you, but you were confused at 6:50. Never mind I always confused with so many things.
Hi Ryndon. Great videos thanks. Just curious - what does the TJ mean or stand for in TJ Free?
Hi Geoff! Good question. No meaning really, tjfree . com was just a short (easy to remember?) domain name that I found when starting the channel and decided to use it for the channel branding.
@@TJFREE Thanks for the reply and keep up the good work! Has Olive progressed?
@@geoffphil thanks, there hasn't been much development in Olive as far as I can see over this past year.
Hello Dear i like your tutorial, please make video tutorial about Synfig Studio.
Thanks! I do like Synfig Studio, but I will probably not be making tutorials for it in the near future.
👏👏👏
anyone not seeing tooltips when hovering over options in inkscape? I'm using a drawing tablet. This some kind of bug?
Love
Wow
