- Marder A1- is a light tank in online game "War Thunder". It has a 20mm autocannon and "Milan" missiles. These two weapon systems allows it to deal with any vehicle type presented in the game vith various effectiveness.

It's good that 20mm damage against cannons is consistent, idk how many times I've dumped hundreds of rounds from the VADS into a barrel and barely made it orange. If you actually had 20mm armor piercing and high explosive rounds hitting your barrel it would absolutely fuck it in seconds but I guess is balans comrade((((
also one of the bonus downside of the missile is that the launcher cannot depress as hard as the 20mm (like 5 deg at max), leading to cases where u would miss a missile fighting heavily armored target at close range and steep hill
plus another downside to ur survivability, yes its remote controlled turret let u eat APDS like theres no tmr, but since the belt that connect the actual ammorack to ur gun is also located to the left of ur gun, u can get ammoracked via AP shells just by being hit there, nullifying the whole point of RC turret which is complete bull-

I have literally never killed a Marder this way. I have killed one by machine gunning it's ATGM though while it was still in the launcher
been there, done that. Have killed a bradley via machinegunning the thing TOW launcher by assuming manual control of my leo 1 roof MG
the same can be said to the marder, but i find hitting the launcher is not as easy as shooting the belt connecting the gun, so when fighting it i usually default to shooting there. And when using the marder i just have to accept that whenever i poke my turret out to open fire theres a real possibility i will just be one-tapped via gaijin questionable model design
My favorite part of the Marder isn’t the autocannon, not the Milan, not even the flat front slope thats perfect for a OwO face of death.
Its the emphasis on the hyphen that doesn’t have anything after it. Literally just there cause why not.

The Hyphen is a Minus which denotes that it doesn't have thermal sights, unlike Marder 1A+ iirc

No one uses the machine guns on the Marder but if you do when fighting aircraft it greatly increases the chances of a hit or fire as you're firing with 3 guns.
It might be useful to say that the MILAN's max range is 2km, and since the autocannon does little to no damage on that distance, you really can't fight anyone on very large open maps. Also, not only your opponents can shoot it down. It often happens to me that I shoot down my own MILAN by spraying my autocannon right after launching it because of reflexes on short-distance engagements.
You need more love. Also I call the turret on the back “the butt gun”

the other way i like to play the marder is a support anti-air range finder vehicle
i find a teammate with good gun, follow him during engagement, help him with range using my laser range finder, and provide air cover, i usually do it with my friend, its super fun specially on long range maps.
I love the subtle bush that’s actually looking realistic. This is a Chad amongst those who give their best to turn their tank into a driving bush in hope of some ingame advantage.
Also to add, since the launcher is external, it can sometimes be ammo racked. I had better chance on destroying Marders when they're hull down by shooting their ATGM

I got a nuke in it recently on Ash River using the insane depression. Only big problem to me is the long MILAN reload and few missiles

Big down side is its ammo storage bcs you need 1 shot into the turret to hit the ammo
Fun fact, if you have an aim-controlled ATGM and you run out of depression, try adjusting your aim for distance, it will give you a few extra degrees
"run out of depression" it sounds like like gun's depression is some kind of consumable :D
Anyone have any idea why every time i shoot the ATGM from this thing it just has a seizure as soon as it leaves the tube and doesnt go where i aim it?
You can also 50 cal or even 7.62 the missile launcher and the whole ifv explodes. Done that 2 times when marder was reloading in front of me and I had no barrel
Tip: For planes, HOLD SPACEBAR and fire those machine guns too! Esp if it's coming from behind you, you'll have a lot more rounds flying towards that plane...

German and Russian bmp are same and YES as a Russian main bmp1 deserves bias award especially with bmp1p mod, although I hate Germany having ussr vics and killing actual ussr players... sucks to such as ussr main against mi24p (german one)

Can anyone explain why the speed meter on the Marder is red? Like not fully capable?
When vehicle reaches speed where it cannot fire missiles the speed becomes red. Most tanks with ATGM's can fire them if they move up to ~3kph

No it only scares noobs and doesn't scare everything, it gets one shot centre of mass by almost everything including APDS and its not like the sturm-s where you can only see the atgm tube.
best marder is fires missle, move, ez kill since marder is so stable
"at range its difficult to penetrate"...I don't disagree with this, but I think the commentary on this point in this video is overly pessimistic. I've penetrated and killed an M41 frontally at range with the main cannon before. And yes it is a light tank, but I would argue at the range I was doing this even I didn't think I could kill it. Exactly to the point made in the video though, I did struggle to kill it with the cannon and it did take a bit of patience.

Honestly think this is one of the worst vehicles in the game. Barely ever die to it at all and destroy it without trouble every time.
Depends on country i think, france suffer against this. Heat cant reach anything behind transmission, tiny head. Autoloader still outspeeded by 20mm, but yeah. I agree bmp front plate can tank marder 20mm
