    In this video we saw 13 facts about shipping containers that may be you didn't know.
    1. Malcolm McLean first created shipping containers in 1956. McLean wanted to find a more efficient way of shipment handling than the break-bulk style that was prevalent at the time. His container style was revolutionary as it incorporated external corners for easy stacking and lifting.
    2. It’s estimated 97% containers are made in China and are distributed around the world.
    3. If new shipping containers are well taken care of and they are given regular maintenance, they can last for over 30 years.
    4. Shipping containers have a standard size - 20 feet (also known as a Twenty foot Equivalent Unit, or a TEU) or 40 feet (which is two TEUs!).
    5. A standard TEU (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Unit) container can hold 3,500 shoe boxes,
    while a 40-ft high cube can hold at least 8,000 shoe boxes.
    6. Every year, ships lose containers at sea, whether due to bad weather or accidents.
    Experts believe that 2,000 to 10,000 are lost annually.
    7. It takes around 15,000 shipping containers to contain 745 million bananas.
    All 15,000 of them can be loaded on to a big container ship.
    8. At any given time, about 20 million shipping containers are travelling
    the high seas on ships.
    9. One average container ship can travel from Malaysia to Los Angeles in just 16 Days
    10. The Port of Shanghai is the busiest port in the world, handling more than 33 million TEU containers in 2013.
    11. If all of the world's shipping containers were laid end to end, they would circle the
    world almost twice!
    12. There is a city in Mexico which is of 48000 square foot, legitimately built from
    shipping containers.The appropriately named "Container City" uses containers
    for apartments, restaurant's, art galleries and many more buildings
    13. The Freitag Store in Zurich is the tallest shipping container building in the world
    and uses 19 containers, with 9 of them being stack on top of one another.
    The result is a building that is 26 meters tall.
