First thing I did to get ready was to move from Bolshevik controlled Colorado to WY. Howdy neighbor.

If a person doesn't have any serious medical conditions preventing exercise safely, a person can do SOMETHING at any age to try to be in the best shape they can
I spent 20 years in the "chair force" and incurred some injuries that happened over time even using all safety practices e.g. two man lift, using hoists etc plus lifting smartly. But degenerative disc disease happened. Two back surgeries and a couple incurable illnesses that most likely were service connected prevent me from being in the best shape I can be. BUT, I continue to work out as I can and retain my basic training waist and BMI even in my 50s. It can be done. I am amazed at how so many young airmen are just blobs of atrophy. There is zero excuse.
I can't run and jump like before and probably couldn't fight my way out of a wet paper bag but being in shape, carrying myself with good posture and confidence will generally make someone think you will not be an easy target.
One thing though is if the option to retreat or run away is not possible, these conditions I have would be an affirmative defense if a younger and stronger assailant actually managed to get near me where I would need to use force to repel the attack. Shit happens but try your best to avoid areas and places where you can be a target

Kudos for maintaining your numbers. I'm sure you got decent combat training in the force as well and are already ahead of the average person.

I'm preparing through cardio. But I had to lose weight to safely start. Over the past two years (without complete discipline) I dropped from about 190 lbs to about 153, and now I'm getting on my treadmill and working my way up in endurance. Hopefully by the time the weather breaks in the spring I'll be prepped to start running outside. It occurred to me a couple of years ago that I could not run to save my life, and I may have to some day. So many people out there are so fat they can barely walk, and if they ever had to "run" for some reason they could not and would simply perish in their fat. Yikes.

Awesome work! Super proud of you. We need more people with that mindset. Incline hikes on the treadmill are no joke and will help you become a better runner and sprinter.
You're absolutely right, what if the gun jams and you're forced to run away. Smart to get good at running.

I used to lift weights way back in school, but I've always been active in some way or another. I remember all of the things that I used to do and how to survive. Even if I'm not doing it every day now. I'm prepared. We never know how things are going to go, however. People are the scariest predators out there, especially when they're off their rockers without common sense.

Today I just discovered you. I live in Idaho, and every year watch outsiders come in and change this place as it has been an earlier choice in the demographic exodus for those escaping liberal states. Three years ago I wanted to transplant to Wyoming to live the life philosophy that you are pursuing, because the demographic shift is changing Idaho negatively. I am not in Wyoming right now because it's taken some time, maturity and bravery to finally take the risks necessary to live in alignment with my values. Our society is hostile to these values, but really my journey didn't begin until I got out of my damn way and committed principles you speak about with my actions and choices. I have watched about 10 of your videos in a row and everything you are saying economically, financially, housing, WEC, self-improvement, the accountability to rise to personal readiness despite the odds and personal bad habits... Dude, just thank you for walking the walk as well as talking it. Thank you for being an inspiration by taking the on the more difficult and solitary role of leading by example. It's clear you've earned the life you're leading and hopefully with much perseverance and haste, I can join you in this stronger place. In spirit, I am already there.

Honor does not come from victory. Honor has to do with integrity and inner personal strength and knowledge. As Clint Eastwood once said "a man"s got to know his limitations." Assessing the situation and figuring out another way is not dishonorable, it"s smart.
