I'm not gonna lie the WNBA is hard to watch even when CC is playing. It's almost like watching rec center basketball with a bunch of players that used to be good. At times it is fun also, but it is nothing like watching the NBA, and I can see why the league has struggled to grow. I used to watch the WNBA back when it first premiered. One thing I can say is we men want to league to succeed and be successful. All some of us are saying is that hey, you have this woman over here that can grow your league and put your best players in the spotlight. She doesn't have to be one of the best 12 players in your league, but if you put her on your USA roster millions more with watch and they will see first hand how talented the other women are. She won't play much, so the world will be able to see these women play. Now, instead of having one lady who's extremely popular, you now will have 4 or 5 women with new young fans.

Seems like all the women in the wnba are more visible now because of CC coming into the league. Unfortunately there are those trying to grab their piece of the light she brings by throwing shade on her. Need to stop the negative and sit back and watch the play. Oh..and to those tauting that DT has slightly better shot average than this youngster I say, sure.. her arrival has got all those players stepping up AND while being double+ guarded and with little break in her schedule. Bottom line.. she be fine and is determined to keep working through the muck. And THAT is what we love about this kid!

It seems like there are two opposing views here. The WNBA was excited to have Caitlin help the WNBA as it is. The new fans want to see more pure skills like the NBA and want the WNBA to change so that CC and the players to follow her can play like her too. I see that both sides feel very strongly about it. Unfortuanatley a lot of mean things have been said on both sides while the direction the WNBA will go is being decided.

Oh yeah its during the final four. Then they said well her first games will be her tryout. Well her number were better than Taurasi. No one tears down women like other women. They are blaming men when men are 90% of the WNBA audience - and the NBA the men of the NBA are why the WNBA exists.
Modern women want the authority of men, the privileges of women, and the accountability of children.

      @LouSeph 3 месяца назад

90% of the WNBA audience are men lol. I am one of them and have been for years. The gaslighting female reporters are doing is offensive on this topic.
We have female reporters covering the NFL that say all types of things about men that are in their feelings cause CLEAR JEALOUSY is being called out.
This is about women who just can’t handle being criticized by men. The gaslighting and pearl clutching going on is amazing.
Those of us that watch like myself can SEE with our eyeballs that CC is being guarded differently than ANY other rookie and ANY other player we have EVER seen - not just this year. We called men out of being jealous of rookies that came into various leagues - if you want to be talked about like a legit sports league - get talked about honestly like a legit sports league.
If you want gentle special treatment - go sit at the kids table and be content being a second tier league that begs for fans.
You are getting the attention and they are MAD at who is giving them the attention.
New fans are here and their response is “don’t talk about the sport”, “don’t criticize us”, “don’t get too hype about rookies we were here before!”.
You were here before and lecturing new fans will push away new fans.
Women play sports - men watch sports. Ask a random woman if she has ever watched the WNBA. They don’t. Women don’t support the WNBA - men do.
Get off your high horse - you sound ridiculous and I am a left wing person who watches the WNBA and this show - now a right wing hate monger and if I am nauseated by this I can’t imagine how hard others are rolling their eyes and changing the channel.

Also, why is no one criticizing US basketball that this is the first time they have ever not had anyone under the age of 24 on the roster? Also can we talk about "Diana Taurasi is shooting better from distance than anyone" when it's 34% to Clark's 33% and 22nd best in the league? I am not saying it is unfair that Clark was left off. There are preference reasons to pick others over her, but the narrative she hasn't earned it is not backed by actual stats. She has the 5th best stats of any guard and the 3rd best fantasy stats of any guard when 7 guards were selected. That is a snub. Instead her IDOLS tore her down publicly out of jealousy that they had not received the same popularity. The old guard started this mob scene..
Aside from that, her team isn’t talented, doesn’t seem to be well couched and her team mates don’t care to defer to her. As far as basketball is concerned, she’s in a pretty terrible situation for her skill set. All the while being double and triple teamed sometimes from full court. There is no "coddling" by men for Clark, there is only hate by the loud men towards the rest of the WNBA league, players, and USA Women's Basketball. The mistake is thinking the men are doing this *for* her.
For all the guys who think women are out to hate on other women, just listen to the first thing Duncan says coming on the show [4:00].
Clark had to be left off the USA Women's Olympic team because of the Caitlin Clark Catch-22: she is popular because she is different in a different way (The Steph Curry Way), but the rest of the players are playing in the pre-Curry way. Clark and the other players will need time to figure out how to fit together. Curry needed several years until the Warriors were 'his' team.
And I finished writing this while getting to 12:40 in the video, when Elle (we're friends, right? 😂) finished saying exactly this.

No one is saying that this is gaslighting at its finest. 90% of the WNBA audience are and always have been men.
Ask a random woman if she has ever watched the WNBA - see the responses you get.
I had league pass the last few years - I am a liberal person - the treatment she is getting is objectively different and lying about it is making these purists look ridiculous.
She isn’t “the goat” but she is getting guarded harder than any other player in the league including the MVP, vets, and her teammates don’t help her.
If she sucks so bad why is the entire league on a mission to shut her down every night? Can’t make those 2 things make logical sense.
Basketball fans know what we see - we don’t need the grandstanding and gaslighting because “real fans” now want to defend women’s basketball from the straight white girl.
People want her to fail so bad it’s scrambling their brains. Cause they wanna say “told you so” and “see we don’t need you!”
The WNBA has been a 27 year charity. They have never turned a profit one time. You need casual fans. I was excited for this season - I didn’t realize the women in the league would be so jealous they would rather see the league fail than have CC be the one who brings them attention.
Angel Reese celebrating that cheap shot was a big deal not cause the play was so insane - cause we know we are being gaslit by women deep in their feelings over this and people pointed to that moment to say “see we know what we are watching”.
Then punking out and running from the media and trying to make Chennedy a victim - straight clown show stuff!!!
Now CC is being criticized cause she isn’t speaking up for the women who hate her???
Like I said I am a liberal and this type of shit is used to give liberals a bad name.
Existing W fans - I am one of them - aren’t enough to sustain the league and existing W fans that are honest are the ones who KNOW the criticism is true - which is why they are so triggered and twisting in pretzels to gaslight people.

The numbers prove it. The potential of having the world wanting just this women was just too great. The women running the WNBA jealousy truly shows.

Caitlin is averaging 16 points on 37% shooting. She didn’t earn a spot on the Olympic team because she is not currently one of the top players in the WNBA. There is a difference between being the most popular player versus being one of the best players. I have little doubt that Caitlin will eventually get to being one of the best WNBA players but she isn’t there yet.
This isn’t jealousy (at least not 100%), but it is a team putting their foot down that they are not just putting the most popular player on the team over a deserving player. It actually does matter to athletes to have a gold medal and it is an accomplishment.

I would argue that players like Jewell Lloyd or Aja Wilson also have defenses keying in on them and they are able to be successful. Of course Caitlin would play better if she was left open but she came into the WNBA hyped up as the best thing since sliced bread and so she is receiving the type of defense that an elite offensive player would warrant. It’s up to her to figure out how to be successful, similar to how MJ had to figure out how to be successful when he was getting the focus of defense. At no point in MJ’s career did he average less than 20 points or less than 41% shooting. Because the WNBA is subsidized by the NBA, it, the WNBA administration has no skin in the game - they have guarateed salaries, and as a result has developed a culture corporate welfare: no growth and the grooming and maintenance of the ‘status quo’. The las thing on the minds of the administration and the ‘ground forces’ is that they don’t want to ride on the coat tails of a rookie sensation. They would rather see CC ‘fail’ so that they can say, “See, she wasn’t that great anyway.” They double down on ‘cutting their nose to spite their face.’ Though, who knows they might just cave into the great pressure of fans wanting to see her on the team

Critique. That popular men just go to the one clickbait story. Then Jessica ask about the incoming dept without mentioning CC, but then Ms. Duncan's answers has a CC element to it, that I would dare say, didn't need to be in the answer.

Then, you have the WNBA anchor from ESPN, and instead of talking about, oh any of the top WNBA stories, you go to a clip of a trick shot from practice. Which of course, fits the show, but its another example of not talking about the play of the court, but instead of fluf or click bait candy. Which is part of the problem of the WNBA, is that the media doesn't go to more stories about the sport.

You guys gotta decide if you want the WNBA to be a charity or a successful business.
Men cause women’s problems but men are 90% of the WNBA audience and the WNBA exists purely cause of the NBA.
Women support the NBA and not the WNBA. Men support the WNBA. Look at the viewership breakdowns.
This is Fox News style gaslighting. It’s so disappointing to see people I respected embarrass themselves like this.
This is just showing the pandering has gone too far. Like it was good to have me too and make things more fair but we knew we were gonna get to an absurd place and here we are lol.
Men are running the WNBA but the WNBA exists only because men watch it and fund it….make that make sense.

ELLE: "Everyone who's joining the party now (CC FANS) came in with pitchforks out"
UMMM....if memory serves, Caitlin was getting plenty of shade and hate and racism even BEFORE she got drafted. Upon entering the WNBA, it has literally exploded off the charts. As for CC FANS, myself included, who have said harsh things about other players, it has been in RESPONSE to their words about her and her treatment of her. Period.

People see all the unfair bs in their life happening to Caitlin Clark and it upsets them because it's so wrong and it's relatable.
Caitlin is an avatar for people, that one annoying host got that right.

How is Clark the one being treated unfairly? She's making 80x-100x what players who are objectively better than her make in endorsements. Hopefully a rising tide lifts all boats, but she getting far more than players who are far more accomplished than her. It really says something about you if you believe she is the one being treated unfairly.

Men aren’t the only ones just getting here. Women weren’t watching either lol. And I hate that women are telling guys we know nothing because it’s women’s basketball. We watch how every other league runs their business and what they did when they got their version of a Catlin. Men know sports more just stop saying we know nothing just because it’s women on the court
