The 1978 World Invitational Team roster included the names of Ervin Magic Johnson and Larry Bird, among others. The team coach chose to bench Magic and Bird in favor of those from the school he coached at. Only given precious few minutes of play time Magic and Bird put on a show that far surpassed the play of the coaches starting 5, and they were each others main rivals at the time. If Magic and Bird had played on the same team in the 1980 Olympics some beautiful basketball would have entertained hundreds of millions on the International level. If Reese and Clark could produce on the same level as Magic and Bird, then some real change might be possible for the WNBA.

YES. In the NBA/WNBA, I respect that there are personnel decisions that are always controversial. It happens. When we are being represented as a country, WE SHOULD HAVE A SAY ON WHOS ON THE TEAM! Arike made it clear the older players didn’t like her, so she withdrew her name. She and Caitlin are treated bad by Turasi and others who feel disrespected that Clark, Reese, Brinkley and others are bringing more exposure than she has EVER generated. Because that’s not real life. Reality is that money is the only thing that really matters. And for the WNBA to be complaining about equal rights and pay, then turn up their nose at opportunities to achieve this, shows they don’t really want to fix the problem, they just want things to change + take credit without doing the actual work. 92 Dream Team + MJ vs Thomas + Laettner continues to be the example of how the NBA got to be a global brand where we here in the states are the equivalent of the Euro league in soccer. Other countries have their own leagues in sports but if you want the best competition, star athletes, pay etc, you normally have to go to one league specifically. WNBA players still have to go over seas in the off season, where their leagues pay more. We start taking that market share away guess where?

But lord she has some big holes to fill before I put her in the top tier of women ballers. She can’t dribble well enough to create her own shots, if you put a more athletic player on her she’s been cooked so far in the pros. She can’t handle the physicality and speed of bigger faster players, terrible shooting percentage, has a terrible assist:turnover ratio, she is very, very bad on defense and those are the glaring holes. At this moment in time I haven’t seen a single starting WNBA guard who she has faced off against who isn’t her equal or better as an all around player. A’ja Wilson is the standard barer in the WNBA.

Even if that $50m loss number was real (which no one seems to believe), that means the W will be profitable as soon as the new TV deal kicks in. Let's say the new CBA gives half of that new money to the players (which would be massively more than the % of revenue the W players currently get), that's still $70m extra going to the teams (using Skipper's $200m estimate for the W's share of the TV money, which honestly seems more likely to be low than high). in addition, that $50m alleged loss includes charter flights, which the W just began this year more or less out of the blue right around the same time the TV deals started getting finalized. Cathy Engelbert (the WNBA commisioner) has been saying for years that the W needs a stable financial model and you can't take away charter flights once you start them. Sure sounds like Adam Silver told her a number that made her feel good about pulling the trigger on starting them asap.

Skipper needs to stick to talking about business. He has no clue what he's talking about when it comes to 3x3 basketball. Clark's skillset does not mesh well with that uptempo style of play. She can't handle press defenses in the W. She's not gonna survive the constant pressure in 3x3. Her fans already cry about her getting faceguarded at 60 feet. In 3x3, her defender gonna be on her as soon as she steps foot on the court. She offers nothing offensive from 6ft to 22ft. No intermediate jumper in her game. No floater. She needs strength and conditioning work. She stupidly just put on muscle and has know idea how to play with it. But I guess she's a celebrity...

The Olympic movement is absolutely not about winning as the primary focus of the event. Yes, there is somebody / somebodies who win a gold medal, but the vast majority of Olympic athletes won’t win a medal and going in have no hope of winning a medal of any color. For the vast majority of Olympic athletes, their goal / dream is to compete at the very best level they can attain even if that level is 20th place in whatever sport when in their career they had ever before come close to 20th place. Most people focus and marvel at the gold medal winner, which undoubtedly is a worthy accomplishment. But just as worthy of respect and admiration is the athlete who, say, finishes 16th the mile run by shattering their personal best time on the biggest athletic stage in the world. Most people think of the 16th place finisher as not nearly as good as the winner, but to be better than all runners at a mile except only 15 runners on the planet is a level that is so exceptional, yet most people don’t give those who don’t win a medal any thought. The Olympics is the movement that was founded so that athletes could compete at their highest level, whatever that level is, and by pushing and being pushed by the competition they bring glory to themselves and to sport.

Simple 5 bullet points that merits CC's inclusion in the Olympic team
    1. #11 and #12 are going to be perennial bench warmers and at worst break the glass 5 min game time players
    2. 2028 Olympics is at home and all American teams will be expected to win Gold esp basketball teams.... The pressure will be higher playing at home with those expectations
    3. Clark could realistically be integral part of that '28 team and could use the valuable experience from current Olympics
    4. It is traditional to include college basketball player of the year in the Olympic team which is why Laettner was part of the '92 dream team... Why do we think that is a tradition...
    5. Women's basketball could use more eyeballs and not just WNBA... That's patently obvious to even a 5 yr old... Here was the opportunity and the Olympic committee with no vision or foresight has just blown it...

The WNBA players play in Europe as seasons are opposite of each other and know there are nations and players who are just as good and it will be tough to win 8th straight gold medal in Paris!
If the Gold medal streak ends this summer the story will be that generation had a great historic run and success! HAHA !! Of course it will go back to Clark!
