Listen to this guy he Knows what he talking about I sold cars for 40 years at two places and they both had fantastic service. Also never ever buy from anyone but a dealer if you have a service issue small engine stores don’t get paid the same and the first question they ask is did you buy it hear because you can’t take it to a big box store to get it fixed , if you didn’t be prepared to wait 2-4 months. Also only buy according to what you need and make sure someone helps you with that mist people don’t know so they buy the wrong machine. Lastly do your homework on line between models things like 14 inch impeller shaft impeller blades and auger blades but service and correct model selection from a dealer you like is very important.

Great info about the shear pins. I've only lost one in 25 years, but still nice to know.

kind of my thought process but they build them with sheer pins and they still last so i could be right or wrong. just my thought on it, everything these days is getting made with less material.

Stuck between the Generac 30” 357cc ($999 refurbished w/ 2yr warranty) or the Cub Cadet 26” 253cc ($999 Black Friday sales price). Generac 3000b is the same as the DR Pro XL30, which is an absolute beast. Help!

Well, if you're looking for some mod ideas, this guy has a few. ;) ruclips.net/video/KD-riQPGi-s/видео.html
Also, Ariens makes a "deluxe" clean out tool that has a built in brush. I think it's nice for clean up before putting it away.
Shear pins/bolts are generally there to save the gears. Shear bolts are typically shoulder bolts or have a spacer system specifically to make sure they don't get "too" tight, which can defeat the shearing design. Some shear bolts/pins are pre-grooved and it's critical that those grooves line up to the shear plane. That's why the sales guy would have discouraged you from trying to find a bolt to replace a pin, if a pin is what they use. Really, the advantage of a pin is you don't need tools (well, maybe, lol) to change one. Still, I prefer bolts also.
Ariens those years no longer have a full auger shaft unless you get the commercial version. It just has little stub axles there, that's why they add that stop brace.
It's not the worst idea, it reduces the chance of neglected augers to rust onto the shaft.
Their "auto turn" works basically like a Detroit Locker, except it powers the outside wheel on a turn instead of the inside one. Some people have problems on uneven surfaces or if tires are unevenly inflated, but most seem to like it.

the home made upgraded led light setup is nice.
Would be nicer if the guy said how he built it, but shouldnt be to hard with a few pieces of pipe

@@LUCAMTire there are snowblower forums out there, but I dunno what the web site addresses are.
I did a quick search and found this:
      www.snowblowerforum.com/threads/2018-ariens-platinum-30-sho-led-light-upgrade.145817/#post-1628417
Different guy, different setup, but maybe you could ask around there for info.

@@LUCAMTire i saw the sticker on the Ariens, made in USA. later i learned Ariens is powered by LCT a chinese company, and are producing AX chinese small engines for Ariens.
according to the info i gathered, last Ariens snowblower with a American small engine was 2013, as of today Honda is the only power equipment company, who is producing in Thailand, Japan and USA. Honda produces honda engine and you know its Honda, the rest are made in China, maybe not Yamaha. Ariens engine specs comes withh cc's and AX's not precise who they are, mysterious in thier specifications. Honda will tell you, yeah you got a Honda in there.
nice body on your ariens though.

@@LUCAMTire also i work with small engines, i make a living this way. Honda warranty is better than most. regardless if you keeap a Honda at home, or as a Industrial equipment like my work, warranty is the same.
Ariens warranty at home is 3 years.
if you clear driveways and do snow removal as a business, Ariens warranty becomes 3 months, so i suggest keep them Ariens at home, warranty haha a joke, according to my local Ariens dealership. the people need to know the truth and there it was.
