You inspired me to raptor line my stock tank. I don’t know what size bulkhead you have on your inlet, but I have a 2” from tractor supply... for the skimmer I used a 1-1/2”x 2” fernco, 2” pvc, 2” 90°, 2”x2” fernco, and then slide the fernco over a 2” nipple that screws into the bulkhead. Makes the skimmer ridget and eliminates the need for the clamp.
You could use a neodymium magnet out side and a stainless bar attached I side. Also if chlorine is a problem, maybe think of bromine and ozonator instead.
Our stock tank started leaking from the bottom seam so we used the Raptor truck liner stuff and it did not hold up. We use salt water system and it all completely peeled up with rust underneath. Such a bummer. Looking for other alternatives now i.e. vinyl lining or plastic insert.
Very nice job my friend. Your pool looks fantastic after 2 years. May I ask how many cans of the adhesion promoter you used please? I'm also impressed with your pump and strainer application. Darn good job. Thanks, Steve
I use to paint back in my day...on metal vents or any metals we would wipe it down with vinegar and let dry before painting and the paint holds extremely well.
I was wondering how much of the blue color you purchased with your Raptor Kit? Do you use a 3 ounce container for each quart? This is beautiful and something I am looking at doing in the next few weeks.
Not sure what the prep was before putting the liner in? Now I see you scratch-brite it. When we painted anything galvanized we wiped it all down with white vinegar to micro-etch the surface for the paint to adhere.
Thank you so much for this second video! You explained about the prep work, which i really needed. only question, the scotch bright pads, did you just use the kitchen green ones? or were they round pads specially for the sander? I am preping my pool this weekend. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks again.
What size propane tank is that ? And how long does it last? I have a natural gas line that can be tapped into on the exterior of my house but having a plumber come out and route the lines might cost a penny. So I’m thinking I like the idea of a refillable tank that I can do myself.
I've seen primer not work although I have not primed one myself. I've been told by several painters to use primer but I just sanded and used adhesion promoter. It's worked well for the three I've done.
I followed your set up and purchased the sand filter. What i didn't realize is that it doesn't come with all the parts to make the connection to the pool. Can you share what parts or kits you purchased to make the connections to the pool. Im looking at the paperwork that came with the filter and it appears to give like 4 options. I also purchased the skimmer, good tip.
I have a 10' round pool we just bought. How much of the Raptor liner do you think i would need? Your pool looks like an 8'. Nice job by the way on the pool set up. Were just getting ours set up and love your ideas.
@@tetradgroup Thanks. Also, in your first video when you started spraying it looks like you did a couple of passes on the bottom corners or were you just over lapping up the edges and bottom before you started spraying the bottom area? Just want to make sure i spray it right.
Is the color of the Raptor you used resistant to chlorine by the manufacturer? When I contacted several manufacturers they said that the paint was not intended for work with chlorine and were not sure it would last
I've had my pole lined for 2 years, the paint is still very blue but you can tell it's not as bright as it was when I painted it. But after 2 years I think it is done great.

Just curious, since this video is a year older, how’s it holding up after 3 years? Did you have the holes cutout for the pump before you sprayed the liner? In regards to the liner, I’d it a single coat application?
I had a little peeling and the color faded a bit more. I just sanded the the spots that were peeling and added another coat of liner last week. I also painted the outside this time. Looks amazing. I think I should get another two years easy from this tank. I did cut all the holes before spraying the liner.
@@tetradgroup hi! I'm also in SLC! good to know these can heat up when it gets cold out here. I was thinking of the double heater system too. unfortunately, the units you used are not for sale but there are a lot. do you have of video of the instal process?

Any chance of an update video? Liner holding up?
Smart man! 👏🏽 the proof is in the lasting of the liner which other RUclipsrs can’t say with their epoxy 👍🏽😊
Thanks 👍
You can use a little immersion heater overnight to keep it from icing up. Put it on the opposite side from the skimmer.
You could use a neodymium magnet out side and a stainless bar attached I side. Also if chlorine is a problem, maybe think of bromine and ozonator instead.
I’ve sprayed tons of raptor liners you need too scuff or grind the substrate and apply primer before application.
Thanks for the advice!

Watched both videos, thank you so much for your insight and great explanations! How had the liner held up after (what is now) 4 years?

Thanks for that tip! I will try that next time!
Should the vinegar be diluted? Should the vinegar be washed before applying the paint?
Excellent pool the water looks so clear and clean I just want to jump in at a angle so I don't hit the bottom lol.
I was wondering how much of the blue color you purchased with your Raptor Kit? Do you use a 3 ounce container for each quart? This is beautiful and something I am looking at doing in the next few weeks.
Is there a reason you don’t tee off the out put from filter, one to pool and one to heaters if there’s enough flow? And eliminate second pump.
Do you have a video on the install of the heater system?
Are u still
Happy w the raptor? I cant decide on their new corrosion primer versus adhesion promoter- just wondering how it is faring

I like the skimmer and heater idea. Good video.

I used the red 3M Scotch Brite pads from Home Depot. They are rectangle but work good on an orbital sander. I took 8-10 pads if I remember correctly.
Thank you so much for getting back to me.
@@geniesullo3552 you better be careful sanding that galvanized, it is deadly
Did you have to buy an additional part to connect the skimmer to the lower strainer?

Raptor's Amazon product description says that galvanized metals need primer first, weird that it would peel up faster than no primer.
I've seen primer not work although I have not primed one myself. I've been told by several painters to use primer but I just sanded and used adhesion promoter. It's worked well for the three I've done.
Nice work! Do you leave the pool pump running while you are in the pool?
Yes I do. I like the jet to run while we are in the pool.

Same. I had to buy extra plunge valves. Working on mine this weekend.

The 6-quart kit was just barely enough to do the 8-footer. I would try to get at least eight quarts for a 10-footer

Just picking your brain again. How much of the Adhesion Promotor did it take for your 8" pool.
@@jimmyedwards4320 2 can was plenty for the 8' pool

If you etch the galvanized with industrial vinegar before coating it should provide the adhesion you need for the liner kit to stay on the metal.
Good to know! Thanks!
What did you use to connect to the water inlet and outlet on the heater as they are an odd size also…some type of garden hose adapter?
Get a PVC 1/2 npt inside to 3/4 npt. The 1/2 PVC will screw on to the heater
Can you share what the cost of electricity is for your stock tank pool system?
We don't notice an increase at all, hard to say
Like video..think I want one
How do you hook up the heater to the propane tank, ordered the same heater. Do you need and adapter?
I bought a hose and regulator from Home Depot, cut the end of and insert supplied barbed end on heater onto hose.
