The design boards are fantastic for making blocks. I used them for threadology, for this project , Designer Mystery block , Just for fun and for 52 blocks 52 weeks. It makes piecing so easy when you lie everything out. I dont know how I pieced without them and you certainly make less errors in orientation of pieces because you see everything before you sew. I ended watching Lori Holts video and made my own. It helps to have a bunch. You are so very organized with your patterns and videos. It makes quilting so much easier and fun. Thank you Kimberly Jolly for all your inspiration and tips!!
Wow! That was so fun to see. I learned a cutting shortcut, you can never pin too much, prepare as much as possible before sewing, and enjoy your accomplishment! Thank you Kimberly and Lilly!
Love the block, the quilt will be beautiful and your demonstration was perfect. Thanks Kimberly and Lily. Have a great week everyone @ Fat Quarter Shop
I love seeing how you do it in your sewing room! I do chain piece but not like that....much more efficient to look over the pattern and do more steps at a time! Thanks Kimberly!❤️
For new quilters like me, go to settings on the video to slow mo the cutting- I've already made a mistake since Im really really new to this and still learning how to use the correct measurements on the rulers. I can then see what size Kimberly starts with while sub cutting the smaller pieces. ( cutting larger size pieces, then cutting down to accurate sizes for piecing). Also, as a new quilter, cutting accurate sides is tricky because Im so nervous while using the rotary cutter! I'm making notes on the directions as I go so I can use as a reference when making other projects,.
Soo many good things. Love the Christmas themed set, it sets a happy mood. Super helpful to see Kimberly's actual workflow, it makes the process seem very achievable. I can see how she gets things pieced so quickly with the tape trick and what looks like the Juki Compensating 1/4 inch foot? I need that, I'm pretty sure it will fit my Singer S16.
What is the second foot you used to sew the triangles. I have the same machine and watching you use that foot...wow it sewed the triangles like a dream! And FYI, these videos are killing my bank account! Hahahahahahahahahaha every time you do one I see something I HAVE to buy. My husband said to me this morning, “are you watching that lady again?? Don’t buy anything!” Hahahahahahaha he was to late cause I hurried to the fat quarter shop and bought some things. 🤪🤪🤪
When you get your head around it, then you organize the steps, it seems to be easier to follow through. I can relate to this and will try to carry out my projects in the same way. Hopefully it will help my concentration with which I have been battling since my stroke 1 1/2 years ago. Tfs.
I think she uses a different foot when sewing on the diagonal line because she can see the line better than her quarter inch foot (which you will notice she uses when sewing straight edges and not on diagonal lines).
@@cindymcfarland4686 Thank you. I'm trying my hand at quilting and am very "green" as one might say! I appreciate any help I get from experienced quilters and sewers!
Her regular foot is a quarter inch foot which has a guide on the side of it that holds the fabric in place for a perfect 1/4 inch seam. She switched to a simple patchwork foot because you can't sew on the diagonal with the 1/4 foot with the guide. The guide comes down beside the fabric when you sew on the edge but it would drag on top when sewing on the diagonal. I hope this makes sense, enjoy your new quilting hobby!!
Good morning!! I just listened to a really good true crime podcast… Over My Dead Body… Season 1 : Tally. Waiting for more on this because they just went to trial in June, Oh….love this quilt by the way. 🥰
HUGE apologies in advance for what I'm about to say... If I were a Jolly, I'd make Christmas shirts saying things like, "We're the Jolliest b*tches you'll ever meet!" I need professional help... Also, LOOOOVE this block! I'm going shopping for layer cakes right now.
Loved this video!!! Your efficiency tips are sensational! One question: whenever I do blocks where you sew on the diagonal, my units always end up a little bit small due to thread, folded fabric, etc. Do you sew directly on the line or just next to it to get them perfectly sized? Thanks 😁
I have the same machine as you but I've never seen that foot you're using. What foot is that?? Thank you for the quilt block and the Mini Merry Quilt along. I love the first block. I'm going to try to find some fabric in my stash to quilt along with you. This block is lovely :) I loved seeing how long it actually takes you to do the whole thing from start to finish.
Thank you!! Question - In the first assembly step, did you sew exactly on the diagonal line you drew on the corner square blocks when you attached them to the larger fabric pieces? Or, did you sew a tad to the right of the diagonal line for a scant 1/4” seam? Thank you!
Hello kimberly an everyone else at the fqshop. ...this quilt is gonna be stunning ....IV got an off topic question for yall...I need a really good iron so I was wondering where you guys got the 1 you use in all the videos

45minutes for piecing and sewing, but I would love to know how much time it takes you to prepare your fabric. Surely all that startching adds significant time.

Hello Molly! Please check the internet connection on your device.
It would have been nice, instead of fast forwarding through the cutting, if she would have explained the sizes being cut out.
What could I accomplish if I could really move that fast?😲
I've never heard anyone pronounce poinsettia the way you do.
She pronounced Poinsettia correctly...as it does have 4 syllables...with emphasis on both 2nd and 3rd syllables...how do you say it?
I've always heard poinsetta....that's how I say it
I think it is a regional pronunciation. I've always heard it pronounced poinsetta, even in school.
