Thank you band memebers, this is so incredablly beautiful... Gotta play this one one more time!!! God what I would give to see you in person. Love your group...You know there are times when we ask ourselves...am I important, do I really need to be here? Whould I be missed? If I may, yes indeed, each one of you mean the world to me. I'm thankful for your music, for your talents and the gift of good Louisiana music at it best. Folks it doesn't get any better than this right here. Band, Thank You so much for being here, and for doing what you're doing. Your music (each one of you) touches my heart. Thank you all. Most respectfully Don - Studio26A
This is a great performance. I especially liked the playing of Barnabas and Todd. Barnabas combines the roles of trombone and 2nd trumpet to perfection so that he can support the vocals and instrumental solos and still solo effectively. His playing is restrained, lyrical and appropriate to what is happening in the band. Todd is now a major league tuba player. His playing during the tuttis and the solos is full and complex with no eccentricities or 2nd line posturing. Play this song again and listen to what he does,. And his own solo is relaxed, melodic and well-developed.
Maybe the most beautiful song Erika singing at all. It is my personal opinion. So wonderful that they played it again. They never recorded this tune on any of their albums. But Erika recorded it with Shaye at the piano and Norbert Susemihl on his album "Meet me on Frenchmen Street" a couple of years ago.
Many thanks, James. Essentially a sixteen-bar (8 + 8) song. It uses the Magnolia Chord Progression (I - I7 - IV - IVm) - indeed to plaintive effect, mainly because of that IVm. It was composed in 1936 by Hudson Whittaker ('Tampa Red'). He recorded it on the Bluebird Label: ruclips.net/video/Oyal9R2dEk4/видео.html Challenge for today: Tampa Red (and later Merline Johnson) both recorded it in the key of F. But Erika sings it in a different key from theirs. In which key does Erika sing this song?
It seems that I always find that I need my weekly and daily Tuba Skinny. The two gals are the glue that makes Tuba Skinny work!
The Cornet is phantastic and extraordinary
Great Lady - God bless you
I love, love this band
They would go down a storm at the Edinburgh Festival or Glasgow's Celtic Connections. I think a tour of the UK is order. I love Tuba Skinny.
Sweetest music you ever heard. Thank you, Tuba.
Erika, is really "cooking" on this song! 5 STARS! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Great thank you! What a wonderful set and special mood. It seems as if Erica added even more enthusiasm to the band and the audience with her visit.
Good to hear a recent film with Erika back in the band . Great.
Thanks Erika Lewis for being in Tuba or any other Band, you really do it GREAT, GOD BLESS YOU!!!!

You guys are the best 👌🏻😊 ❤️🇦🇺❤️
Oh yes, I need this music. Maybe not by my side, but my soul is thirsty for it.
Has Erika moved back? I love all you guys, each a gem, and her inimitable vocals round out the virtuosity in a way that you can’t hear anywhere else.
She still lives in Asheville but was in New Orleans when this was recorded.
Your music is always uplifting. You move me. Such talents you really do. Namaste.🙏.
T.S. with Erika who could ask for anything more. Thanks again James. I was at two performances in the fall . They get better everytime I see them.

@@stewartfenton7660 Hi Stewart! I had to have a little surgery week before last. I'm back at work now doing well.
@@MarkWYoung-ky4uc glad to hear you're getting over it, though you're not being terribly specific. Keep that Red Power rolling!

Erika sings in the Key of G.
Correct. Well done, Robert. And of course it's a key that most jazz bands very rarely use - though Tuba Skinny often seem comfortable with it.
thanks!!
@@PopsCoffee No soli of Bb - instruments ...:-)))) Improvise in "A" probably the problem.
@@robertduis6730 Agreed.
❤
Need to put time aside for Tuba Skinny every day.

Toxic Femininity Erika - Toxic!
These guys are the true skinny don’t like it when they have odd bods thrown in because somebody’s missing.
Do you ever take vacation time or call in sick at your job? Musicians are people too and can have other commitments.
