However if you take into account the amount of RUclips travel channels of men in their late 40’s, 50’s and older Gabriel has done extremely well and has earned his great reputation. I really miss traveling but I think for me and my situation it’s best that I use this time to continue saving money and put traveling on hold for the foreseeable future. If I were in Gabes position I’d be doing basically the same stuff he’s doing.

I love traveling but I decided not until the pandemic under control because: - limited countries I can visit (I am from the Philippines). - negative PCR/swab test result is required for me to leave the Philippines. The test costs $100 or more. - also, a flight ticket going back home is required. - I travel on a budget. Can't afford to get stuck outside my home country. - high possibility that not everything is open in my desired destination.

Also, the other day they announced that people coming and going out of Cebu will soon have to do their transactions cashless(Phils a big cash country) notifying where you are going and for how long. Then you have to wear a bracelet on your arm so they can track you if they want. That is a complete massive change for your country.

As an an example. We have a lot of guest workers from the Western Balkans in Austria who visit their homeland every summer. Up to a week ago, a COVID19 test was enough for the return trip to Austria. As of this week, an additional quarantine of 14 days is mandatory!

U r right we can't just hide and stay home... from our perspective...we stayed home and "mental health" is something to consider as well...because we are going crazy staying home. Your story telling comes to the main conclusion that many countries relies mainly on tourism as its their main source of income and so it's better to keep a balance with taking safety precautions because staying in home is not the solutions.
Great points well made. The Croatian islands are very quiet out of season, very few non-tourism jobs , they are hoping the few tourists this season will pay for the winter. My stepson in Hvar town who works on a tourist boat has had to take a big pay cut compared with last season.

Latvia just opened its borders to travelers from the UK with no 14 day self isolation. When you were in London you could not travel there but could now. I have a Latvian passport and plan to Riga from the USA after August 15, when Turkish Airlines resumes flights there. As a citizen they will let me in and the worst case scenario is I will have a 14 day self isolation if they get more restrictive.
I had so many travel plans for 2020 which was all waste. But I hope I will able to make it soon. But thanks to you for always sharing your travel videos and giving travelling vibes to all of travellers like me.
It seems wrong to enforce that for people who left before the rules changed, but it illustrates one of the risks of traveling right now. They could at least give people a window of five days or so to get back home. People will miss work and important appointments, etc. I read an article of someone saying they will miss a wedding they planned to go to because they'll have to quarantine. The outbreak in Spain isn't that widespread, seems like the UK is overreacting.
Good advice but things can change quickly. UK government advised travellers it was safe to visit Spain, today due to spike all those Brits in Spain will need to isolate for two weeks on return!
There are no cross-the-board right answers. You were fortunate to have left the US when you did and now you get to contribute to the livelihoods of people in the places where you go. I'm in Canada and not feeling it's the right time for me to travel so I spend more money on take out from my favorite restaurants and help support them in my way. Yes, we'll get through this. I'm glad you turned comments back on so that you can see the support from many of us and not let the others get to you. I enjoyed staying in Žuljana a couple of years ago. A quiet village with good opportunities for swimming and hiking. The town of Ston farther on the peninsula offers a very large fortress. Perhaps a candidate to review? Thanks for the videos from Croatia!
It’s difficult. I travelled to Italy from the UK a few days ago for a first trip since December. On the other hand, suddenly now people returning from Spain have to self isolate for 14 days due to the flare up in Catalonia. Definitely risks involved and you just have to personally decide whether it’s worth it while complying with all the rules and regulations. You’re lucky to have a Canadian passport in this time as well given what’s happening in the US. Good point about not taking a vacation right now if you need to be home on a certain date. I would like to head out for a few months but it seems like a very hard time to travel alone. A lot of the opportunity to meet fellow travelers won't exist. Staying mainly in the hotel which I can imagine myself doing isn't much different than not traveling at all.

I would not travel at all. Not because of the danger, it's the travel restrictions that could be implemented in the drop of a hat.

Completely agree we have to allow civilization to return and get back to work, business and leisure, including travel and tourism.

I enjoyed staying in Žuljana a couple of years ago. A quiet village with good opportunities for swimming and hiking. The town of Ston farther on the peninsula offers a very large fortress. Perhaps a candidate to review? Thanks for the videos from Croatia!

Just briefly Dubrovnik and Split. Gabriel is sort of extending my experience of Croatia.
I came back home in February cutting short on my winter travels, i was wondering if everything is cheaper because of low tourists.

In Australia there is a travel ban in and out except in very limited circumstances so travel is out of question.
It’s difficult. I travelled to Italy from the UK a few days ago for a first trip since December. On the other hand, suddenly now people returning from Spain have to self isolate for 14 days due to the flare up in Catalonia. Definitely risks involved and you just have to personally decide whether it’s worth it while complying with all the rules and regulations. You’re lucky to have a Canadian passport in this time as well given what’s happening in the US.

Thank you for your encouraging videos! I’m in Yucatán, Mx hoping some borders in Latin America will open. Otherwise, it’s nice to see there are options. PS-I’m from the USA and using the downtime to learn Spanish. PPS-Also, I’ll be 70 in a few days so I’m being a little extra cautious.

Good point about not taking a vacation right now if you need to be home on a certain date. I would like to head out for a few months but it seems like a very hard time to travel alone. A lot of the opportunity to meet fellow travelers won't exist. Staying mainly in the hotel which I can imagine myself doing isn't much different than not traveling at all.
