The reason why John Higgins never got banned for life is that the lot of the top officials are as corrupt as the players, these greedy bastards make me sick.
I think this is as close to that as you will find. Both players missed shots they could play blindfolded. A real comedy of errors it seemed at the time but there was something dodgy going on. I wonder what Higgins was saying to Lee at the end I think he knew something was awry.
When Stephen Lee and John Higgins play each other they have to get progressively worse shot by shot. Eventually they're holding the cue the wrong way round, aiming at light fixtures.
16:50 really is ludicrous. Even if (it's a big if) you can believe that a professional could ever misjudge and hit a shot as poorly as that, the bigger question is: why on earth would ANYONE play that shot in such a way when the frame is still alive? You'd either drop it in, or if you're hitting the white with any power you'd hit it with some bottom (unlike Lee, who was striking the white's centre). You can't fail to have an easy pot on the black by just dropping it in, there's no reason to complicate it and take a chance of trying to come around the back of it like that as Everton suggests in commentary.
Wonder what they were saying to each other at the end of that frame. Probably something along the lines of: Higgins “I thought you were supposed to win that frame”. Lee: “no it was meant to be you, the big money is on me to lose”. Higgins: “sorry mate I forgot”.
Snooker would be very interesting if both players played to lose the frame, the frame would last ages. I remember that tennis match that lasted just over 11 hours.

It's a disgrace that higgins was allowed to play again, half the reason i lost all interest in watching snooker, that the big wigs pick and choose who they ban despite committing the same offence and putting the entire game into disrepute.
The same offence? Higgins was set up by the fake sheikh, who ended up in prison. He made it clear it wasn't tour matches, and he never actually went through with it. His fault was not letting the authorities know, and I do think a year suspension would have been more appropriate. Stephen lee did cheat on the main tour, multiple times. I don't think it's anywhere near the same.
Not sure what to make of this. Higgins played the more curious shots all in all. Lee actually potted some diffcult balls and made some solid safety, but then missing that pink with the rest was very suspect.
I have to wonder if Higgins had an idea what was going on during his comeback and decided to test Lee in the final frame. He misses a few easy shots and Lee returns the favor and exposes his match fixing. Given Higgins' play, Lee should have won this frame.
This was just before his ban. Lee knew his time was up. He blatently cheated in front of the world , the last horrah if you like. He says he is skint. I don't believe that. I believe he put everything on black here, and made as much as possible through a criminal syndicate in Hong Kong. Crazy

People saying Lee threw the frame, but I find that hard to believe when he plays a superb shot at 16:12 to leave Higgins bang in trouble. Why would he play such an obviously difficult shot for his opponent if he was trying to deliberately lose the frame? He could’ve easily have played a regular up and down safety but specifically played for the snooker. Doesn’t add up

I know this is a real late comment, but I just watched the video. I had the same thought. I think that Lee is trying to convince Higgins that he got far too strong of a bounce from the side cushion after the real dodgy pink pot where the commentator suggests he was maybe trying to come around the black. You can see him sort of punch his fist and feign anger... but there is extreme desperation in his manner and sweat on his forrid. He comes in hard for the handshake with Higgins and you can tell that Higgins clocks real quick what game he is playing and tries to shrug him off the best that he can considering the situation. Lee knows he is in deep waters at this point... perhaps even knows he is about to be turned over. Bless him. I shudder to think of the personal / mental / financial situation he had got himself into to throw a match in this fashion. Let me say that this is all speculation from the body language at the end of the game... but nevertheless I reckon that the nature of the conversation is clear.
I'm sceptical that Lee was trying to throw the frame, sure there are a few misses but some of them weren't that bad (for example the pink with the long rest 1. it is a long rest and 2. the time limit was close, the first missed red was definitely not deliberate, he put a lot of power to make the canon and open the black). If he wanted to throw the frame, why virtually clear up on the colours, he could easily have missed one of the hard shots? Why play the snooker right near the end?
Maybe the pink was missable but he rocketed the cue ball into the black as well. There was simply no way a player trying to win would play the shot that way. Lee was making sure if he "missed" his shot and the pink went in he'd still give himself another chance to lose

i guess both wants to loose
Dont believe..what the other player missed lotts of balls..
This doesn't prove anything unless you're a bookie, know what the norm is in bets and see a small number of ppl betting unuasually large.
Seems like Lee can easily beat Higgins. LOL 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
every time he missed you could see he was throwing the cue at the ball somebody with his cue action doesnt do that unless hes wanting to miss
The simple way is BAN all betting... its almost as bad as taking drugs.
Match fixed
To cheats playing to lose yet Lee gets 12 years an Higgins get near on nothing what a joke Lee was to good to be in the game
Because Higgins was cleared of match fixing look it up Lee went through with it that's the difference
@@dereknagle no way, that is not true he was fined an band for 6 mouths explain that. Please don't defend people that have clearly done wrong. Lee did wrong yes but 12 year band is abit much.
@The You See Show He was cleared of the more serious charges of match fixing but found guilty of giving the impression that he would breach betting rules, he was never involved in match fixing but he decided to play along for fear of his life because of the Russian mafia
Two cheats in a tight match. Riveting viewing😅
With the prize money even back then being very good, it makes you wonder why these two ever entertained the idea of frame fixing. Just try and win instead, Jesus wept.
It's hard to think Lee fixed just this match for the first time in his career. He'd been doing it for years, but got caught this time. When you cheat so many times, it becomes a habit more than a rational decision.
Fancy him leaving it down to the last ball to throw a frame🤣🤣any foul or in off from highins lol or anything
Surprised this game isn’t still going on… pair of cheating bleeps!!! 😡
Think they were both at missing deliberately !!!
Silly boy though - he would have earned far more just playing not missing 10 years with that cue action. Trouble is, if he was a Purchaser in industry he’d have been told when you’re bribed, you’re in the briber’s pocket forever or he’ll grass you up. And so it was: multiple bribes. Sportsmen don’t get taught this stuff. That’s why I’m team games like cricket they encourage whistle blowers but in individual sports like tennis and snooker it is so hard to pick up and there are always easy victims. I say victims because ultimately Stephen Lee was a victim.
Look at the acting
To be honest that’s how I normally play pool / snooker, half of my shots are missed, fluked or the stupid white ball gets in!.
