- It's very easy to cross Paris by Metro from Gare du Nord to Gare de Lyon, so don't let that put your off taking a #SkiFlightFree holiday.
Iain talks you through each step from the moment you get off Eurostar to the concourse in Hall 2 at Gare de Lyon.
It took Iain just 27 minutes - a very similar time than if you took a taxi.
Once you're at Gare de Lyon connect onwards to French, Swiss and Italian ski resorts.

Very helpful, thank you!
Thank you so much for this video
This video was so helpful two years ago when I had very little time to make this change, and now I am making this travel again. This is super helpful, thank you!
that's great to hear. Thanks
Excellent video. I’m doing this in a couple of days so have been looking for guidance.
That's great to hear
thank you so much
thanks
Thank you...really helpful 😊
It's a pleasure Steve. Enjoy your trip. When and where are you off to?
Thanks for this! 🙌
Only question I have now is where & how to buy a ticket for the metro. But I'm sure I can figure this out once I'm there
That's actually changing just now as they are moving away from the old paper tickets. I hope to post a video on this shortly.
You're a legend. Thank you for this.
It's a pleasure - enjoy your trip!
fab video. Just what Im looking for. Thank you.
Thanks!
Thanks. Very useful.
It's a pleasure. Enjoy your trip!
Really helpful. What specific RER ticket do I need to purchase at one of the ticket machines to get to Gare de Lyon?
I've never actually done that, but the machines are similar to the underground in London, so select destination and you should be able to just buy a single ticket.
Thank you for this! Are the tickets usable on both Metro and RER?
Yes, you go through the same gates for both.
@@iainmski Thank you. One more question, s'il vous plaît... Are paper tickets still usable?
@@Mariboya Yes, I have those card rectangular tickets, but they do expire after a while. Not sure how long.
I saw another video saying I'd need a navigo card, can I buy a single ticket from a machine, or is there even an app?
Yes, you can buy a single ticket from the machines. There's no need to buy a Navigo card
@@iainmski Massively helpful! I also figured out how to do it on the mobile app, I was trying to work out how to buy a ticket to a destination and I wasnt seeing it.
Hi could u show me how to get to Eiffel tower’s from Gare du nord
I have a 35 min connection time between the eurostar at Gare de Nord and SNCB from Gare de Lyon to Marseille, is this enough time?
Well, obviously I can't guarantee it, but if you know where you are going, you already have a ticket (so don't spend time queuing in Gare du Nord) & RER is running fine, you should be okay in most cases. Ways you can increase your chances are to cut down time: 1) normally Eurostar sell Metro tickets on the train, so if you don't have them already you can try buying there 2) as you near Paris, make your way to the front of the train as the Eurostar platform is very long and can add 5 mins onto the journey time, depending what coach you are on
@@iainmski thank you, that's really helpful advice. Yep, I don't have metro tickets so will need to buy those. I suppose trains to Marseille will also likely be in hall 2 at Gare de Lyon?
@@robtripp2180 Yes, not 100% sure about Marseille, but time difference not huge at Gare de Lyon between halls
@@iainmski perfect, thanks.
