"OF COURSE, I'LL PLUG IT INTO THE SEGA MEGADRIVE SYNTH, WHAT WAS I THINKING??" hahahahahahaha
ofcourseee!!!
@@LOOKMUMNOCOMPUTER you are an inspiration sir and your songs like Modern Gas and Human Procrastination are truly great works! When the Analogue Pocket (new game boy type machine) comes out it's going to have music making software on it. Would love to see you do a video on that.
as soon as I heard the first notes I was like "Pleeeeeaaase plug it into the Sega Megadrive Synth!" - and he did it. I LOVE those sounds!
*proceeds to blow my ears out*
That's Curt Cobain's guitar, did you build it or get it from someone!?
As a guitarist...thank you. Thank you so much
Sega in 1988; the FM soundchip of the Mega Drive has a good guitar sound!
Sam in 2020; I'll plug a guitar into this Mega Drive!
I won't be surprised if I'm playing CyberPunk 2077 and I come across this dude in the game
and then he chalenges you to a SYNTH BATTLE WITH NO COMPUTERS
Wake the fuck up, we got a synth battle to battle.
exactly
YES!!! This guy is our hope to bring NEW CYBERPUNK into Charts again!
Dude I hope so. I'd feel so cool.
Drink every time you spot that bit of mustache I missed when shaving
I didn't even notice till i seen your comment 😂
Well then 🍻Cheers
If I wasn't always pissed
Ouyy..... ¿go Unshaved? Maybe.... then take it into a crazy retro-synthwave- video!
Lmao I noticed it right off but it only made me realize how my scruffy is way worse
Thanks I'm drunk now...
Somehow this is actually the best review for the Fishman out there.
😂
Srsly true.
I was going to say. I wouldn't look twice at that product if not for this video. Now I want one asap.
@@saam6768 I was looking at maybe getting one a month or two ago, and I'm not kidding, this LMNC video told me more about what the thing can do than a couple dozen other videos/reviews I watched.
I've had lots of various roland gK stuff over the past 20 years and it has definitely gotten alot better.
Is this the gateway to a new genre, electronic djent?
god i wish
Digidjent?
@@ryanspencer4654 brilliant
that's just dubstep
HMMMMMMMMM...... Djent Meets Yes??????
The sounds coming out of that synth and guitar at 4:16 were amazing!!!
You've tried the 70's version, you've tried the modern version - the logical next step is to build your own! Maybe you can make a simple pickup that outputs straight CV. ?
* 6 simple pickups
This way it would have no way to know what fret you are playing. It would only know what string you're playing
@@FilipeDGuedes I think there are some pitch-to-voltage converters
@@lorenzogiani7190 you are right. Disconsider what I said
Aye.
His thousand oscillator wall.
7:37 - ALL DARK AND MOODY 80s MOVIES EVER
broke: playing guitar on a synth
woke: playing synth on a guitar
OMFG - found this channel by accident. And now I WANT THAT 70s SYNTH GUITAR. Sounds truly epic!
Really digging your vids man. Thanks for everything.
5:52 dude that riff sounds AMAZING!! really rad guitar
This longtime guitar midi player is getting all misty eyed seeing your infectious enthusiasm.
Gonna enjoy seeing the inevitable future guitar vids from ya!
Haha awesome. I love running guitars through synths for pitch to CV and I can't believe I've never thought of running a midi pickup through a six-voice poly! Totally doing that now.
How do you normally get the guitar to send pitch to cv??
@@jonahraduns-silverstein3981 On specific synths that have that functionality. My Korg MS-20 has pitch to CV (plus envelope follower and trigger generation) in the patch panel. I borrowed a Roland System 700 which has a dedicated "Interface" module designed for pitch to CV / envelope following / gate generation.
I also have an ARP Avatar which is a purpose built guitar synth (one of the first) but it's still being repaired.
I've been looking for something like this for a long time. It's actually what brought me to your channel way back when. Fantastic vid dude, and thanks.
I'd love to see the possibilities of plugging the guitar into a normal amp and then using the fishman pickup into a synth. I think you could make a pretty cool White Stripes-esque band with the normal guitar sound and a synth bass sound
Yess this is exactly what i was thinking
Maybe if You use a monosynth that tracks only the lowest note you are playing You could make chords with the guitar and the synth plays bass
Bruh! This portamento makes me feel at 80's again! Incredible cross-over tech episode. We're so pumped!
AW YEAH! SO magic! Great seeing how the new ones work!
love your content mistah
I want to see you live sometime. Too bad I’m in the States!
Waiting for more of your music to be released on Spotify. Your music is so cool and unique!
Thanks for the great content!
"It requires an app" "Fuuuuuuu"
LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER: just watch me.
(yes I also dislike the "require an app" trend - happy to see I'm not the only one)

Let me guess: Guitar + Furby = Guitarby! Endless possibilities with this! Somebody’s going to see this and rediscover their guitar!
Steve Hillages synth, guitar, and synth guitar work is criminally underrated. Not to mention his producing chops, AND system 7.
2:19 : "precision engineering!!!"
Exactly the video I was hoping you'd do... thanks!
Awesome!!! Sounds great with the Prophet!
"the intonation is a bit out"
-Proceeds to fuck up the intonation even further by placing the guitar against the shelf in the worst possible way.
super happy I came across this channel. Your mad scientist vibe mixed with mustangs and synth music made me subscribe so damn fast
Quality as usual! Those basslines though! Thank you!
This electric guitar hooked to a synthesizer is one of the coolest things I've heard in a long time! Thank you very much for doing this, that sound is amazing.
Amazing, can't wait to see you perform live in March!
bristonnika????
You’re advancing with time, warms the heart.
Put the Fishman connect on the Roland if you haven't already, could be 4th dimensional 🤯
you're a true original. amazing. thanks for the video!
Mechanical genius! Great music too!
Daaaaaaaamn!!
So cool bro. If you made a full song with the guitar and that sega synth I would 100% buy that
Your reaction when you found out it needed a app made me laugh. Another enjoyable video and am eagerly looking forward to the next one. All the best.
Hook that puppy up to a BASS!
Edit: I know it just plays the sounds from the synth, but it would look cool slapping out synth squonks and bleeps.
He should test it for us because there are no videos of trying to put one of these onna bass.
moonboogie N8 “squonks and bleeps” can I use that as my band name?
@@NotDingse Mmmmm, ok....... But I get to play lead squonks.
@@moonboogien8908 deal, hit me up!
@@moonboogien8908 can i be the bleeper?
lovin this!!! I wanted to play synths with guitar for YEARS!!! Now with this tech I finally can!!! :)
You're such an inspiration man 👍
Every fucking rif You play sounds like it would make amazing tune. Every time You touch strings i have chills!!
excellent content as usual! you run one of the best channels on youtube!
What a co-inki-dink. I just dragged my one of these out of the draw the other day. With some routing within Ableton and some creative racks you can setup string splits to put certain sounds on different strings. 808 kicks on the low E, and a pad across everything sounds huge!
Love this video! FYI, you can toggle pitch bend tracking on/off by pressing the Up and Down buttons at the same time.
I'm jealous of your unbelievable gift. Well done sir 👌
I’ve never seen a midi guitar pickup work so well right out of the box. And I’ve used SO MANY of them!!!
That Roland has such a vibe to it wow.
gotta get one for my bc rich warlock now lmao
hahaha
@@LOOKMUMNOCOMPUTER I have a gk3 on my Dean ML using midi out has some latency into dexed etc. This video is awesome.
8:03 And that my friends is what Archimedes called Eureka!
lol
The 70s Roland is one of my dream guitars,,,, I still stand by that sounds amazing
Great vid mate! Now I need this perfect toy ✌️
OOOOHHHHHFFFF
And now I need a synth to plug my guitar into.
another great vid! how did i not know a synth guitar was a thing?? awesome :D
Loved the little 8bit guitar style sounding riff at the end... Nice.
haha
pretty sure I could recognise sam by his skull alone
Prophet 600. First synth to have midi...amazing stuff!
I bought a Fishman TriplePlay connect based on your review (did a review myself on my channel if anyone is interested) it's fucking amazing through VSTs and stuff. Also you might be aware already, but if you run it through the software and configure stuff like individual string sensitivity it saves it to the device, so if you haven't already done that it's worth a go because it should improve your tracking when going back to MIDI conversion/hardware synths.
Also you can mount it upside down by reversing the order of the (non-earth/black) wires going into the unit from the pickup (bit fiddly but no solder required) - I had to do this cos I'm left handed!
This is awesome
I own a gr-300 guitar synth with an ibanez IMG2010 guitar controller (same 24-pin interface but not compatible with the gear in this vid, different voltage), and I can vouch that it tracks perfectly and sounds like an excellent vintage polysynth with limited controls. I got mine cheap (sub-$500 CAD for guitar, gr300 and an 80s pitch to midi unit, had to buy an aftermarket 24 cable for $150 though) but i think it is worth a lot more as it is probably the best sounding fully analog guitar synth out there, and because the tracking is analog it feels instantaneous. Strong recommendation for a vintage option.
love that vintage guitar. the fishman connect was cool too.
this is awesome, greetings from greece, make more vids with the synth guitars!
I have an old Casio MG-500 that i could never get to work, i assumed Midi pickups were broken but seeing this kinda makes me wanna go and fix it or maybe even try out this new thing. Awesome video
Tnx for your video bro!
There is an app for that: Jam Origin MIDI Guitar 2. In app purchase of $20 unlocks MIDI output. The app just takes your guitar audio signal & generates MIDI from any guitar, no special pickup required. You can even use a microphone with acoustic guitar.
Just wow!
“I find your lack of iPad... disturbing....” - Darth Apple.
haha
Heey excellent video.
What is the first guitar you presented the LP like.
Awesome content. Love it
Cheers
Man
Love the downstrokes.
Nice, now I need to do that on my bass and connect it to my Virus... Gonna have some fun, thanks for the idea!
2:42 Niiiice sound!
THIS IS RELATIVE TO MY INTERESTS
You are a magician!
amazing!
Ugh... I love that Roland guitar synth sooooo very much.
Nice video, I have been using midi guitar for ages, great fun but a bit unforgiving if you play it like a regular guitar, but once you adapt it's a great writing tool.
robert fripp new generation
great job mate!
I did not expect I will like how this small black box sounds. SUCH DOOPE!
You should try BOSS SY-1 pedal. No messy fiddling, just plug in like a regular effects pedal. zero lag, works perfectly, you can put effects in parallel loop in and out the SY-1 to get the effects on dry signal, then mix both dry and synth.
OH SHIT THIS IS JUST WHAT I NEEDED TO SEE! I was thinking of using a midi pickup to trigger my hardware synths. Thanks!
its doable
Pure awesomeness
Damn, here it is!
There's a music shop in Tralee that I visit on yearly family holidays that's had a Roland GK pickup for like, 10 years, I must actually pick it up next trip and give it a try!
Sweet bit of kit. I want to try this on a bass or my uke
good idea ill mod it for a bass guitar
Nice sound your synth guitar.
Your a very talented gentlemen
This is cool as hell
Jam Origin developed a program called Midi Guitar, which runs on iPad/iPhone, and has a VST version for PC. It has zero latency, and does not require a special pickup. You just connect your guitar to the line-in/mic, and it converts the audio to midi out. It also has pitch shift for bends, and mono and poly modes. The free trial version is worth trying out, and the iPad version is reasonably priced.
Interesting it must have got better I tried it a few years ago and it was proper laggy
I never knew I needed something so much.
lol
@LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER - It took all restraint to not go directly to amazon with the "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY" for that pickup
Now I want a synth guitar!
Awesome =D
Thank you for showing how the Fishman works without a computer. I think you just sold me on getting one.
I could play with that for hours everyday. This is an amazing video. I do not understand why it only has 7k likes.
Yo! The Roland guitar synth options are incredibly good. I use a gk-2a and a gr-33. Don’t even need to play different once you get it set up right!
I've just bought one of those Fishman pickups, £170 on Thomann. Although I just realised the guitar I wanna put it on has like zero space between the bridge and pickup so might have to take a hacksaw to the stupidly oversized bridge. Does it work properly on the other side of the pickup, or does it need to be right at the bridge end to track accurately? I'm guessing it might have better isolation in that position because the strings aren't vibrating as far.
I wasn't expecting the newer thing that you just slap on to the guitar to work so well.
There's also the Industrial Radio midi bass and guitar.
amazingly amazed
I like to see how it makes you fun to play Sam👍🏼😊.
" Even if the day is grey, you put this grey weather away "
Have a nice day + everyone here too and see you Sam ;)
