Do you still have that bass if so would you be willing to sell it ??
ratatoullie music sorry . Not for sale 🙃
You should attempt a cover of Rob Hubbard's Arcade Classics title theme with this somehow! Brilliant stuff 😎

We don't have bits and bobs in our country. Shame, really. Pick up that Mustang. Ultimate victory on the Hondo synth.
Crazy it sounds like the organ I got glad to have you back in my life cause u make it so golrous
I feel like he'd be a character in Regular Show lol
This is sp true
Now what animal would he be? Or would he be a human character?
I just know he'd be super-friends with Gary and spend as much time on Synthos as he could :D
@@dr.getter7118 Yeah! I'd imagine him getting along with Techmo a lot too! If Regular Show was still going I'd super love him being featured there xD
Ello, governor
I'm on youtube late at night, uselessly scrolling, when I see a LMNC post! (it is 3:30 a.m. in the pacific northwest). It is literally a dark and stormy night, and you are filling with wild and crazy cool. Thank you for everything you do!
Haha I was watching this in Tacoma at the same time! @_@
Pdx boiiii
The music you make has me suddenly transported back to childhood, watching the best of 80s Sci Fi.
Holy crap I need to make one of these. I've never soldered anything in my life but this has made me want to learn. When you turned it on and it worked I couldn't believe how awesome it sounded!
Sam, you rulezzz!Hi from Ukraine!
This is so cool man! 🤘🏻 Genuinely exactly what I want from my guitar so I’m gonna go blow my flat up trying to build it 😂
Does this guy have any music-tracks or maybe an album that he composed with that crazy experimental music-gear?
Ver cosas como estas me hace sentir en el quinto elemento.
8:57 epic notes 2/3
The bass guitar for The Prodigy, start the rave and dance
you could have used the analog output of the base as the vco, then passing it trough filters, delays and whatever and you got yourself a synthed base
not the same
@@LOOKMUMNOCOMPUTER who cares!! fun regardles, just a different idea
Very clever. Oups that equipment
I dream since MIDI Git about that. There are several kits for sound amp., stacks,... but guitar even e-git is guitar. No one use that overmore in as much.
Nice try, good thought, belongs to...
👍💭
This is so fucking cool what genre of music would have this kinda guitar sound in it?
@13:14 Ofcourse it's heavy. It's got that back to the future 80's vibe all over it! 😎🤘
And yes we know Jeri Ellsworth; ever since I saw her bake transistors in her kitchen, I've been in love. Yes, a bit of a boomer thing to say you got the hots for a woman that knows her way in the kitchen. 👴
Is it made out of plywood? 5:11
Is there option for the pickup to bypass the synth and go into an amp?
So how much to have you build one and send it to the US?
This boy s truly nutts
4:50 What song?
Def Leppard could have done some cool shit on Hysteria with this
man, I wish i didnt sell my bass now. id love something like this.
The absolute worst thing about this is that I can’t walk down to the local music shop and buy one because I’m sold
I am pretty confident I could use the provided information......so find you the bass you want the goodies in. I'll charge you $275 and you pay for the shipping to and fro
@@blackphoenixfamily8477 Think you could for a guitar?
Instruments have players, synthesisers have pilots.
From my own experience I'd say synths have riders
Instruments have players, Synthesisers have war criminals
Chris Wolstenholme from MUSE wants to know your location.
Needs LED's in the neck but yeah, this is totally muse.
Haha, I though the same
Matt bellamy APPROVE!!!
My first thought lol
LOL
The action on that bass is ABSURD.
Beautiful
That's all I could see while he was playing it . reminds me of my first bass good thing I had have huge hands and was to dumb to know better lol
I'm getting RSI just looking at it
Just was I was thinking
I'm glad to see other people basically complaining about the high action on this bass
You're basically ColinFurze but mad for music.
imagine if they got together for some projects
@@Placehold2222 Don't think Sam plays ska-punk though...
Phone call from Muse incoming any time now..
Thaught about that, too! 😁
Thats crazy! I want one
Me too!
@@TheBaconWizard me wants one too
Don’t understand how you made it, but I need one.
Hahaha! My saying is (usually about odd vehicles) I don't know what it does, but I want one!
The mighty SID chip just keeps inspiring people since the 80s and it will always be there... It still amazes me what a musician/technician is able to squeeze out of it.
I love that "your spaceship in an 8-bit video game just crashed" sound.
It's Paper Boy from the NES. When he crashes, it makes that exact sound. When the bass does it my pants fit all funny.
Sam can you please make more videos about building stuff for modulars?
PS: I love your videos & music
hey gaming base!!!! i will be doing :D sorry about that! they are rather speradic!
@@LOOKMUMNOCOMPUTER haha thanks because i wanna build my own modular synth and just got a case with power supply and a few oscillators
GamingBase there are a bunch of diy kits for modular. I started there. It’s a cheap way to build your synth and learn soldering. Avoid smd components unless you have more advanced soldering skills. Happy wiggling!
could use piccolo strings, tuned like guitar strings but thicker to fit a bass
This. Maybe foam under bridge to mute strings
What about an octave up circuit before the midi converter?
@@widdlytube doesnt sound the same, i think the less you effect the signal the better the result will beb
@@funns7uf Right but the less effects between the pickup and the converter, the better
Once he can travel, we need davie504 to slap this.
I agree with you about that.
We really don't
was he in prison?
Imagine what Cliff Burton could of done with one of these bad boys...
would have been absolutely the pinnacle of bass playing if he had this thing. can you imagine Orion with this?
Exactly my thought some minutes ago!
The Beatles would've Been so much better with this
Les Claypool
@@MadStowned He'd have fun with it for a couple weeks.....
I'm a simple man. I see SID, I press like.
SID is love... SID is life... 🤟
I like that CID too, good times.
just buy yourself a set of 6-string bass strings, and leave off the two lowest strings. Youll still have a bass, but tuned A-D-G-C. It would also help with the high action you're experiencing (less tension on the neck)
I don't know who you are, you badass electro punk, but I am very happy the almighty algorithm introduced me to you, your cyber bass and your sick gameboy wall!
should get someone like davie 504 to rip that thing, hearing crazy slap on a synth bass would probs be wickedd haha
slap wouldn't transfer, as the midi converter box just creates note on/off events... so it'd sound the same as normal playing
@@jessebondmusic i see thanks for the info 👍
Still something with Davie504 or Rob Scallon could be sick.
@ whoooosh... i was just saying his style would be interesting with such an instrument, specially as he likes to try different instruments, but that might be too much for you...

My parents still have that exact Moulinex mixer in the kitchen, working like a charm - you´d better bought it :)
Won't be that exact one as the one you're referring to is on ebay unless your parents put theirs on ebay but they didn't because theirs is in their kitchen.
Pontus Janssons Magic Hat they put it on eBay. I mean, the photos went on eBay. Then they put it back in the kitchen until someone bought it. Gladly no one did.

Some day pretty soon on this chanell "I just buy some extra toilet paper and turned it into a synthesizer"
Congratulations on predicting the future ruclips.net/video/hRyuoi9tIcY/видео.html
@@SS_BS_TS yep. Economy will fall, lockdown until june.
Sam this is amazing! I know this video is old but if you ever plan on working on this again you should do a very simple "blend" mod with the original passive P-bass pickups to bring in the original sound of the bass on top of the synth! Just a thought. Love what you do, always looking forward to your videos uploads and projects!
This video made me realize I need to do two things: make that synth project and get a leather jacket. Thanks, Sam! Excited for part two!
all those years, and i haven't seen this one until today. amazing!
looks AND sound incredible!!
"Not the most perfect instrument "
Shut up and take my money!!
Amazing!!
I just found your channel yesterday and I love all the crazy shit you make, do you have/can you make a video on how to start collecting gear and equipment based on synths? I'm really interested in all of it but I have no clue where to start.
Well everyone’s gonna tell you the same thing, you need to specify price limits, as well as what sounds you’re after. This isn’t something someone else can decide for you, do some research and within a year you’ll have a better idea of what you want to get. I personally own a Moog Grandmother and a Make Noise 0 Coast. Both great synths but totally different sound and workflows.
You really need to assess how many furbies are in your budget
man that's pretty radicool
I feel like he’s the Colin Furze of music
Never heard a statement more true Micheal.
Colin has used his music in some of his videos
So funny that I was imagining Jeri Ellsworth when you actually said her name two minutes later! I LOVED her solution to keeping the surrounding electronics at the conventions where she plays from interfering with her bass’ pickups. Her solution? Trash the typical pickups and install Little piezo inducer discs that she clipped and placed beneath her bass strings! Soo IF you get any EMI issues or interference from nearby arcade pinball machines, maybe you ought to install a piezo inductor array for a secondary pickup option?! For someone who’s outward appearance would
suggest a grimey and pretty rugged person, you REALLY do have it together. AWESOME!! Oh yeah, NICE ROUTER!!
10:20 that's very MUSE-y-like bass sound.
Title please. 😥
...the neck seems to be bending a little bit more than it should, judging by the footage ( 0:38 - 4:35 - 6:59 ). Very nice project, though... a lot of synth possibilities... OR you can use it to piss everybody off in a rehearsal, just keep messing with it til everybody leaves...
João Gabriel Padilha pretty sure that’s just the fisheye lens warping the space.
It's the fisheye effect like someone above said, if you look closely at 6:59 everything else looks distorted as well.
Can you do a tutorial on making one? I don’t know much about electronics but this might convince me to make the leap into this. I need a lefty version.
Send it to Davie504. :)
All I want is the bassline from 10:20 in a song please!
i'm glad that sick tune sidetracked my OSHA-senses
Did you notice that mad flex of him misusing loo rolls, he must have so many...
@@norullzz maybe they're also from ebay, 100 pounds per roll
Ay, idk if you read enough of the comments to see this - on the issues you’re having w/ G2M recognizing the lower notes, you could convert the input signal an octave up? Digitally this is done by taking the absolute value of each sample, effectively folding the negative parts up. I’m not terribly familiar with the analog equivalent but I know I’ve seen schematics for it before that only require a handful of components. Then while processing the MIDI signal you can shift the pitch back down an octave to get the note that was originally played.
asdfpoiuyify my solution would be use a set of piccolo strings so the bass is pitched an octave up without needing any pitch shifting
How have you learned all these things about electronic stuffs?
Anyway this is a really cool project :)
Just messing around. Avoiding procrastination etc etc
Yup, pick a project and keep at it until it is done.
Cool!!! I think I'll stop procrastinating and start messing around
If a new Terminator movie comes out, this would be a cool instrument to build a soundtrack around. Imagine playing this with strings, choirs, and brass. You could make some seriously epic industrial sounding music.
I love these synth guitars and basses but personally i always find it kind of dissapointing its just a MIDI controller as the actual original sound is lost. But if you just modified the sound that'd really just be a modulator and thats what effects pedals are for so would it be possible to make a kind of hybrid? Like something that modulates the bass sounds and synthesizes sounds to go along with it like automatic chords by taking the midi output and making a chord with the played note as the root note. or it could record what you play and play loops of that either with the modulated bass sound or something synthesized from using it as a MIDI controller. I just wish I had the skills to build something like that.
be the change you want to see
Please send the bass to Davie504 😂
Agreed!
be cool if it had a wet /dry so you could have a touch of the bass in there
I'm so glad I'm not the only person spending this much time on eBay..
"I CAN FEEL MY HEADPHONES MOVING!" oh, sorry, was i yelling? This is dope.
Will davie504 approve this awesome bAss?
Slap like now.
this is cool as heck
I have been wondering for quite some time and it is killing me to know. Which episode of Max Headroom did you escape from? I love your whole aesthetic, your enthusiasm, and your insane talent.
Man for the love of electric axes gods do a simple setup on that awesome bass. You can shoot darts with those strings action!!
Astronaut you know what they say. The higher the action. The better it plays upside down.
Um. I'm not sure that they say that.
LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER oh your right, that’s definitely my favorite position.
setting up the action is highly subjective, i love a high action for example, but on my jazz bass i pretty much only use for slappp i have a low action
Hey.. look.. Sam...there's no chance to see you in tour in italy.. right.. ?i will have to see your new place in the Uk i suppose.. i hope i can soon.. will come there if i will ... take care... awesome content of yours.. love zibra too by the way..
Che figata sarebbe vederlo in Italia???
If my dad were still alive, he would’ve creamed himself over this video - and asked me when I was going to duplicate this bass. I’m the family musician - although he taught me basic guitar chords, was the first person to mention the word “synthesizer” to me, brought up the three of us on the Commodore 64 aaaaaand would’ve been the first to push for me to have a model just like this.

Not sure which I like better. His projects or the music he makes on them. Wish I could lend you my Ibanez srkp4 bass.
can you make a tutorial series, to show where to start with making and using synths. I would really like to know the method behind your madness.
just scroll through his older videos he's already done a bunch of them throughout the years
Now I want to see a band with a synth guitar, synth bass, and electric drums.
Imagine that and the synth is the only acoustic instrument (i.e. slapaphone style)
I had a Hondo guitar with that body. It was heavy as hell but I kept it for many years before junking it because heavy was its best quality, otherwise just cheap.
Kid, your a bad ass. You made something I wouldn't even begin to know how it even works.

8:22 heard that just fine, the SUBWOOFERS were VIBERATING THE FLOOR and honestly I rewound it LOL !!!! :) all about that bass about that base lol hahahahah AWESOME GOOD JOB! :)
I would love a blend switch that would mix the clean bass signal with the synth. Anyway great video as always!
sure! but i decided to do away with the bass entirely. cus from experience when they are mixed they sound a bit naff. so decided to go extreeeeeme haha
@@LOOKMUMNOCOMPUTER Is that because of phase problems between the bass string and the synth wave? What if you had a control on the synth that allowed you to phase-align the two? You get similar problems sometimes when a bass and a kick drum cancel each either out in a studio situation, and end up with a tragic loss of low end. Popping the phase on the bass often brings the boom back. Does this chip give you a way to set the phase at the start of a note?
