I found album in used record store after movie "URGH MUSICwar" I'm so lucky and fortunate. I dance when BOW WOW WOW aphrodisiac come on . Downstairs neighbor complained many times . Ruth c h u r c h forgive me and move out....???? Maybe I kicked out in 2001???
Urgh a Music War, a great film with some of the greatest performances of the early 80s, Toyah Wilcox, Devo, XTC, Wall of Voodoo, Dead Kennedy's, Oingo Boingo, X, The Cramps, etc
When I hear this I just go back to hearing it for the first time... alone on a chilly October night... about to take big chances in life... not knowing what will happen. When I hear this I swear I can smell the air from that night.
What Brought me here ? Who the heck knows and cares !! Lolol the year 2021 brought me here ! FATE BROUGHT ME BACK TO CATCH UP ON TOYAH SINCE HIGH SCHOOL ! HAD ONE OF HER ALBUMS GOT SOME CATCHIN UP TO DO LOLOLWHOHA
What an amazing girl, considering her operations on her spine to correct the problem with, what a way of overcoming obstacles......And still just as mad at 60 !!!!
This is how I remember the legend that was Toyah! 4ft 10" of sheer energy! The live version of Danced is so much better than the studio one. I remember being mesmerized by this sheer bundle of energy at the Cardiff Top Rank in the early 80's. She was on a par with Siouxie and that is saying something! Looking back now, I realise that Iam still as infatuated now at 55 as I was then as a teenager. And, if you are listening Toyah, Iam still waiting!
You and me both mate great as those times were met her may 25th 1980 Glasgow Tiffany's got to go back to hotel after gig with her and reporters she pinched my bum almost 40 years ago god it depresses me thinking about it but in a good way.
My thoughts EXACTLY Celtic Warrior & I'm just a year younger than you = 54! I have been in love with Toyah Wilcox ever since I was 18 & living in Dunedin NZ, & am still buzzing out on her to this day 💕
What a great track, takes me back to the good old days. you cannot beat music like this. TOYAH was out their, loved her and still do. see you in Sunderland soon.
@@jonesy2111 I think their videos are wonderful, watch a few more, they are happy! And making other happy as well, 35 years married and that happy together? Pretty amazing.
Funny algorithms, how did she pass me back in the eighties. I listened to a lot of different music back then and don’t remember her. Boy, what I was missing with this one.
I saw the video back in the MTV DAYS But I know what you mean about listening to all kinds of Music and Artist there's So much out there it's not fair !! Lolol
I concur I ask myself the same thing. I went to tons of concerts in the eighties and nineties. I don't know how I missed toya. She's an unbelievable performance that video from dance just is unbelievably awesome. It really gets me going and excited about the eighties. It's modern music 4 the 80s not for now
My favourite Toyah song. Saw her in Cardiff around 82 and even though the set was short ( about 1 hour 10 minutes) she bounced around the stage for the duration. She is Fit!!!
Toyah putting on her posh voice ……….”Darnce” …she’s from Birmingham and in Birmingham people pronounce it as “Dance” ! Only people from in and around London add an “R” sound to words . They say “grarss” instead of “grass”, “parst” instead of “past” etc etc . 🤫.
Absolutely love this version, never heard it before! She always does something a little different with the music in concerts. Luv This remix! The video actually came on through autoplay while showering so didn't see the screen. I was amazed it was a video from her Heyday, it sounds fresh and remix modern enough to be a current concert. MINX FOREVER💖
If you listen to the music first, it's easier to appreciate. That was my mistake earlier on. So glad I now enjoy and appreciate her music. Lots of great stuff, though hard to find at times.
*Danced* I love you, strange man You had come from so far away Talking We were talking, well we tried Then we danced Laughing We were laughing But then we touched I just broke Down crying I felt your planet so far away Touching the love From your distant star The pains the troubles past From your distant star We've been waiting 2000 years for you to come again Such a long, long time Just to learn the truth And then we Danced (solo) Dance! Dance! Dance your life away! -Toyah Wilcox.
@ 2:57 ' So far away ..." I had a live album that absolutely killed it at this part I would totally get toasted and just listen to the entire side ' travelling to far and distant lands' with Toyah as ' docent of imagination' .
Post production strikes again. The bass player is clearly playing a fretted bass, yet the sound track is fretless. They did'nt have digital effects like that in the 80's. .. I'm just saying...try not to get upset about it.
Wow I listen to so much music in the eighties and I never heard of toia what an unbelievable performance the performance the thinging the music it's so eighties but it's soul itself it's so different that's what's great about the eighties everybody sounded different and then everybody tried to copy the sound and then it was sounding all the theme terrible how does the artist like this get away without ever been known she was married to Robert Fripp from I think its crimson I forget the name but I heard their music and she's just as different which is what was great about the eighties music I love this performance
all is perfect!!!
Toyah is phenomenal 🎉❤
Toyah's hair looks tremendous
it's the bassist...wow

Mesmerising
Lovely alien Toyah, saved my childhood from boredom 😅
God o wish this was made into an official promo ,unpolished ,

Awesome
I'm so glad to have been in my 20's all through the 1980's.
Thank you parents 😀♥️🎈🎈
Her best era
Aerobics Oz Style!!
❤
URGH!
That fretless bass with so much flanger/chorus is incredible. The reverb guitar is great too.
This is from the movie “Urgh! A Music War!”. So glad I was able to get a dvd copy of it. It’s very rare.

Brilliant intro, toyah was a little powerhouse.....
Yes she was hot. But now - in 2020 - she is fucking gorgeous.

Decades later, and I still have her ANTHEM picture disk stuck up on my wall.
Fabulous!!
Certainly brings back a lot of memories 👍🏾💕
Loved her then, she is as beautiful today. I always watch her and Robert's Sunday lunch.
Stunning!

2021 CHECKING IN
From Urgh! A Music War... just brilliant!
Saw her do this on OGWT and was mesmerised from then onwards. Went out and bought the 'Sheep farming in Barnet' EP the next week.
i love everything about this video, from her singing to her energetic dancing, all the way up to her hair and that band kicks ass
When I hear this I just go back to hearing it for the first time... alone on a chilly October night... about to take big chances in life... not knowing what will happen. When I hear this I swear I can smell the air from that night.
I believe this is from a Bible scripture Mark 5:25-34. .......a woman touching Jesus.
She's a rock star! Wow!
the true Toyah!! OG
My introduction was Ieya. So different from anything I'd heard and that was it, I was hooked.
Still have the record in the loft.

Nice that it's posted, but what year is this, and the venue???????
That bass line...
What an amazing girl, considering her operations on her spine to correct the problem with, what a way of overcoming obstacles......And still just as mad at 60 !!!!
Love this. It takes me right back to the 80s. A one woman workout. Brilliant energy
I only realized today that she is married to Robert Fripp
Her marriage to Fripp blew my mind.
This is the clip that really kicks “Urgh!” into top gear.
Au
been a Toyah fan since the year dot , what a beautiful woman. Love her and the band
4:02
Danced is EVERYTH!NG + The intro is simply GEN!US, then onto the belting beat. Toyah is a wall of energy and my goodness she looks so INCREDIBLE here!
So when does Toyah perform this song with Robert Fripp?
Very underrated performer. Saw her live once. It was terrific. Good on her.
well you want to try 15 times still brill
...and Guess what ladies and gents? .....She Can STILL has that much energy today.!!!!
This track was the high point of her shows back then. I may well have been at this gig. I saw her in 80-81 at the ICA, the Lyceum and the Rainbow.
15 when I first saw her, she was and still is a little power house! I’m 57 now and still love to see her.
Really powerful performance by Toyah and the band. She had stage energy.💯💯👌👌✌️✌️
And she STILL has that much energy Today 😱😵

Ditto 🤣🤣🤣🤷🏼♀️
Watch her weekly you tube posts with hubby Robert Fripp!!! She's still amazing!!!
My thoughts EXACTLY Celtic Warrior & I'm just a year younger than you = 54! I have been in love with Toyah Wilcox ever since I was 18 & living in Dunedin NZ, & am still buzzing out on her to this day 💕
When was this performance? Thinking more than 9 years ago. 😊
Probably early 80's but the creator didn't bother to write that in the description 😆
It's from "Urgh A Music War" (1980) so was either 79 or 80.
ICA London, 5 September 1980 according to" Urgh ,a music war" track listing
What a great track, takes me back to the good old days. you cannot beat music like this. TOYAH was out their, loved her and still do. see you in Sunderland soon.
Still impressed that Toyah Willcox married Robert Fripp, they really are a perfect match!
@@jonesy2111 I think their videos are wonderful, watch a few more, they are happy! And making other happy as well, 35 years married and that happy together? Pretty amazing.
I JUST found that out. Amazing. I think they’re both lucky.
The sound of the eighties...what a time.
Raw... Raw... Raw...... LOVE MY TOYAH.. raw & rare...
, She is clearly making a reference about god in the beginning and then does Satans hand signal why?
Toyah Wilcox's fitness video. Dance your way to New Wave fitness!
Fucking brilliant!! I remember watching Nite Flite on the USA network at 14 and still love this soundtrack at 50!!

Looks like the guitarist is playing a Westone 'Thunder'.
still packs a punch today brilliant stuff.
Great sounding band.
Brilliant song-her greatest moment
Brilliant; Life not about waiting for the storm to pass, but learning to dance in the rain.....
still in awe after all these years
I love her. This clip is from the movie Urgh! A Music War, fantastic documentary.

My favourite Toyah song. Saw her in Cardiff around 82 and even though the set was short ( about 1 hour 10 minutes) she bounced around the stage for the duration. She is Fit!!!

This takes me back when i lived in London with camden & soho the center of my live music nights
The Marque!
The best always will be
Her look could’ve made her a perfect Pris in Blade Runner.

I'm sure I remember it being a faster tempo, or is it just me.
Anthem and Changeling In top 20

Toyah! 4 foot nothing of sheer energy! She will always be my Brummie lass! I love you Toyah and always will!
She's 5 foot not 4 😆

Still got the moves and this is my favourite live version of this song. Yours ?
One of my favourites, even better to hear it in concert x
*Danced*
I love you, strange man
You had come from so far away
Talking
We were talking, well we tried
Then we danced
Laughing
We were laughing
But then we touched
I just broke
Down crying
I felt your planet so far away
Touching the love
From your distant star
The pains the troubles past
From your distant star
We've been waiting 2000 years for you to come again
Such a long, long time
Just to learn the truth
And then we
Danced
(solo)
Dance!
Dance!
Dance your life away!
-Toyah Wilcox.
Willcox
Adorable...even with her lishp. Dahnsh like no ones watching Toyah!!
@ 2:57 ' So far away ..." I had a live album that absolutely killed it at this part I would totally get toasted and just listen to the entire side ' travelling to far and distant lands' with Toyah as ' docent of imagination' .
The lovely Mrs. Fripp.
4 weeks till newcastle remembering my teens
Jumping around with her is the reason why I was a very thin child in the 80's.
Screw Zumba, let's do the Toyah Workout!
Check out Magick in Theory and Practice if you want to figure out what she's doing.
Princeofcups Poc I always figured this performance was a ritual with all the hand/finger positions
It worked well for her...she came a LONG way in a short time from Jubilee
New Sub, Toyah sent me!
I was actually introduced to this song on a Christian movie called hells bells in which she is accused of Satan worship and occultism.
King HushHush me too Hells Bells was my intro to some great music
Ha ha. The religious, of whatever faith, are dipshits. Well done for getting a massive positive out of a negative.
Which is ironic, because the song is about the second coming of Christ!
Well it sounds not like a praise song, so what is it and she makes the devil horns when talking about the risen Savior
Maybe because the devil's spirit is working in her
I want Robyn to see this 🖤
Oh hahahaha I like Robyn I was just thinking of looking her up on the Tube !! The hair right ? LOLOLOLHAHA
@@robertmetzger1753 BAHAHA Yes!! Literally. The hair and the high spirited performance 🙌🏼💖😂
