    Hello I have a yorkie mix who hates being groomed. I hope these techniques will help her cope better and build trust between us. Thank you that was a great video and your bond with Mabel is lovely. ❤

    My dog hated his face being touched and refused to stay still. I used this method for two days and I can already use the first hold long enough to get a snip or two with the scissors. I'm confident that with time we can work up to a full groom. Thank you!

    Thank you for sharing this. I have a 5 month old Maltese puppy that I'm learning to groom myself. She hates grooming and I'm trying my best to make it a positive experience for her. Today I started the chin hold technique in your video and I can see that it's going to help a great deal.

    Thank you for making this video!! It makes so much sense. My dog has some trauma from having to be held down and trimmed at the vet for a tooth abscess so trimming her face has gotten really difficult

    This was a good informative video. Thank you!
    My malti-poo puppy lets me do anything except touch his face! He finally lets me bathe his face but still hates brushing very much. I want to get him comfortable with his face being touched to make him more comfortable with me and his groomer.
    Thanks again!

    This is such a great video! I have had three other dogs, and all of them were fine with trimming around the eyes and face. My new puppy is absolutely opposed. Within just a few minutes of training, I can tell this video is going to work. Thank you so much!

    I'm learning to groom my Toy Poodle because she's so scared of the groomer. Grooming salons mostly use force because they either don't know any differently, or because time is money. Owners need to understand that it's not the groomers job to train them to the table and get them comfortable with holds and procedures. They don't have time for that. You do a great job explaining and demonstrating, thank you so much. I use tiny pieces of Stewart dried beef liver treats from Amazon. They are the highest value reward for the most dogs that I've found, I keep a small dish of them precut, at my grooming table.

    Thank you for your help. It's pressure and release just like training most animals. I didn't think of this. Great video!! THANK YOU!!!

    Thank you so much I've been struggling on the holding cuz he's just so nervous and uncomfortable. oh but my puppy bites too so I'm too scared I'll just let go immediately out of fear, any tips?

      I have a video on holding the face, have you watched it? I show a great example of how to push through, but you only “push” for a few seconds. And only if they are not freaking out. You want grooming to be a very positive experience. I also just posted a reel on Instagram today talking about feet. The same concepts can be used for the face! Thx for reaching out❤️

      Sometimes they are biting because they are also afraid. You want to be in a calm state of mind🥰 Go for a long walk before hand to get some energy out. And use really good treats to your advantage. Watch the face holds video or my IG reel. You got this!!!

      Remember to go slow and do small amounts of practice at a time. You got this! Don’t forget yummy treats too🐾

    Hi there not sure if you will see this , but i have a bichon frise 8 month old puppy and i have been grooming her and take her to the groomers since she was 3 months old but she still is fighting and kicks her legs and moves to much. While i do them or when they do them. Any tips ?

    • @Mabelthewhoodle
      @Mabelthewhoodle  Год назад +2

      When I was grooming full time, My “specialty” was rehabilitating difficult dogs…the best thing you can do is keep the sessions short, and frequent. This may mean you put them on an elevated surface, give them a HIGH value treat, and put them right back on the floor. Do that 3-5 times in one day. Next day, up on the table, treat, brush two strokes, off the table. Do that 3-5 times that day. Slowly increase the time spent on the table. It can take up to a year to make dogs “tolerate” “most” of grooming. Keep working at it, sounds like you & your groomer (ask for the same person every time) are working hard😍 Always end on a positive note. When they are doing a good behavior, not when they have been struggling or stressed. Ending it w love & treats & positive reinforcement will make them happy to do it again and again.
