Every drummer that was in Motorhead were all solid drummers, and beasts. From Animal, Pete Gill, and Mikkey... they all were influences on me personally as a drummer. No other drummer besides Pete Gill could look bad ass while playing drums in gym clothes while smoking a cigarette.
The first time I saw Motorhead was on Tiswas, and I liked them immediately because Lemmy had the same handlebar mustache as my grandad. Lemmy and Grandad may be gone, but I still have the mustache.
Everything about this gig is mental. The Heed turn up with more kit than Wembley can handle in a car park off the back of a council estate. 100 people turn up 😂👍🏻
This show must be at 8 in the morning. The fans look like they just woke up and the band is still going from the night before. Always great to see them live with Wurzel.
I’ve watched this several times: mainly cos of Pete Gill smoking whilst drumming is hilarious (as well as looking like Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon!) Secondly, to work out the wasteland/shithole where they are playing as it’s always looked curiously familiar 🤔. It is in fact Ladywood in Birmingham, on the site that the NIA now is...the glamour of being in a rock’n’roll band 🤣
Man Pete Gill(fresh from the band Saxon)is going for the Phil Rudd smoking technique. If Phil ever tried to do these types of songs with Motorhead like that I'd guarantee he'd cough up a lung pretty quick.
lovely footage about the art of ignoring people standing aloof + kudos for the cameraman, for of all this people gathered he's the one turned upside down the most
There are certain immutable laws in nature e.g Newton's law of gravity. Another of these is that the best Motorhead lineup was Philthy, Lemmy and Fast Eddie.
I remember tuning into this on a cold Saturday morning from about 8 am! They played four songs throughout the morning. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing!
@adamtheboyfromdenmar He's had the microphone up that way since his days in Hawkwind - A: To stretch his vocal chords, hence his killer sound B: He has often stated he doesn't like to look his crowd in the eye due to stage fright stemming back from his pub gigging days when he played to only handfuls of people. Hope that helped. You may think it looks stupid, but try telling Lemmy that!!!!
Motorhead, council estate/waste land.. 1984. Could have been anywhere, and nobody else was cool enough to come and see the kids. Saturday morning kids t.v was crap. We needed this. And remember, they were probably on between ''Then Jericho and Style Council.'' Fucking death of music as we know it today. People comment on the crowd. It was normal.
This looks like people waiting for their potato rations and Motorhead teleported in on a stage, looks like Eastern Europe but was Birmingham before it was colonised by South Asia.
U mean "i do wonder if you were there to ask Lemmy or Phil about this show. Maybe they would remember it and tell you what the fucking hell happened that one day"
In Birmingham I believe. I remember this going out live on Saturday Starship at about 8.30 in the morning! I couldn’t believe it as an excited 14 year old. They played four songs throughout the morning. Was gutted when I missed Overkill as my friend wanted to go up the West End!
There's a reason the camera spends more time on him than Lemmy. Those micro shorts and Golds Gym tanktop are kick ass.
I was wondering who that was. I know Philthy Animal and Mickey Dee, just want sure about him!! Thank you!!.
Drumming whilst smoking: Killer. On a few levels.
Cheap Trick's drummer does that, too!
@@shruggzdastr8-facedclown As did Ginger Baker haha, though not as often.
More difficult than singing whilst playing guitar/bass!
Lmao!
@@shruggzdastr8-facedclown Bun E Carlos
Pete thinks, damn this way
faster than saxon 😁✌️👍
motorhead, complete with smoking drummer on a Saturday morning kids tv programme. Awesome...
I was there, still have my signed scrap piece of paper 6/10/1984 , Motorhead forever.

event when only a few dozen people show up.... still giving it 100%. That's Motorhead

Real rock and roll 💪. Speed, smokes, Marshalls, Rickenbacker, decibals, and Lemmy. All others should bow down
Pete Gill is a great drummer too
This show must be at 8 in the morning. The fans look like they just woke up and the band is still going from the night before. Always great to see them live with Wurzel.
Luckily saw them in 92 w Wurzel. Philthy had returned by then as well
RIP, Lemmy. Hail Motorhead.

Third best Motorhead line-up.
Man Pete Gill(fresh from the band Saxon)is going for the Phil Rudd smoking technique. If Phil ever tried to do these types of songs with Motorhead like that I'd guarantee he'd cough up a lung pretty quick.
Thought it was the Saxon drummer there!

Wow! Great video, I've never seen it before. Where can I get this entire gig? By the way, great Pete Gill on drums!!
they were so young, this is awesome!
Best line-up! #EOS
WWFederation1 Yes, loved this 4 piece version of Motorhead.
😂😂😂😂😂😂👎👎 It took 2 guitars and still it doesn't cut the mustard when you compare to the original line up 🤘🤘
There are certain immutable laws in nature e.g Newton's law of gravity. Another of these is that the best Motorhead lineup was Philthy, Lemmy and Fast Eddie.
Why isnt kid's saturday morning telly like this any more? Mr Tumble & Lemmy would get on like a house on fire!!
Fast and loud! The reason because i love motorhead

Cracks were discovered in that multi-storey car park after this epic performance.
I'm amazed at how long that drummers cigarette lasted
Motorhead never sold out.
this shows version of THE HAMMER is incredible!!!
Yeahhh !! Long live to Speed Metal !!!!
What a great audience...

+Tadger Davidson saturday starship
before great success each band must defend its music. This video prove it.
So why did you start playing in a band?
Everyone: to express myself as a musician
Lemmy: TO GET LAID!
I thought Pete Gill was amazing drummer, both in Motorhead and Saxon. Just listen to "Locomotive", holy shit!
Great footage!! What kind of cell phone was this????

U mean "i do wonder if you were there to ask Lemmy or Phil about this show. Maybe they would remember it and tell you what the fucking hell happened that one day"
Wonderfull Time .. Wonderfull Song !! 👍👍👍

Before he fell in with the metal crowd.
Nostalgia

People were not prepared for that..
I've always thougt that it looks stupid when the microphone was so high up
Pete Gill smoking the cigarette..lol
Yes, It's not easy for a difficult crowd to stand out ! and where was it?
In Birmingham I believe. I remember this going out live on Saturday Starship at about 8.30 in the morning! I couldn’t believe it as an excited 14 year old. They played four songs throughout the morning. Was gutted when I missed Overkill as my friend wanted to go up the West End!
