    Training heavy with barbells is still strongly associated with men and boys, but it's WOMEN who need this kind of training the most, especially as they age. Sully discusses the power of barbell-based strength training and conditioning to transform the aging female into an Athlete of Aging.

    Very inspiring. At 63, with several disabilities and health conditions, I'm going back in the gym for 6 months of supervised weight building. I will never be able to do what the women in your video can. But I can use resistance machines. It's about what you can do, not what you can't.

    Lifting has been the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. Recently got my 73 year old osteoporotic mom to train with me, and now I have 5 other women I’ve gotten hooked 😊

    Really inspirational!! I've been looking at more and more young women doing barbell training and was glad to see that but at 53 I thought it wasn't for me. I am proving myself wrong! I am starting slowly on the barbell prescription. Your videos remind me why I'm doing it. Why does strength go out the window with age? Because we throw it there. Not no more.

    Thank you so much for your wisdom, encouragement, and passion for getting ladies lifting! I am 68 and started lifting 2 years ago, and loving it! In fact, I even entered a physique contest in 2022. Building muscle, increasing my overall health, and looking at the big picture - being able to get off the floor when I’m much older - independence! I have an excellent coach that stresses form, mobility, and challenges me to be the best version of myself. Go ladies! You are so worth it!

    Very inspiring video Sully.
    I have been trying to convince my wife of the benefits of resistance training. She understands how it works, but has no interest in going to a gym. This video may help.
    She worked as a hairdresser for over 40 years and retired from that job two years ago. I can see the loss of muscularity and definition already. Her arms and shoulders used to be toned from constantly holding them up and moving around her clients heads.

    Sully excellent video as usual. General question for all what are your thoughts on dips ? I’m male 64 years old and can do 15+ at bodyweight but I’ve read lots saying they’re shoulder wreckers ! Any thoughts please. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 💪

    • @GreySteel
      @GreySteel  3 года назад +1

      We don't use them much, not because they're "shoulder wreckers" (I've seen no data to that effect), but because we just don't need them that much for our population.

    • @SteveW67
      @SteveW67 3 года назад +1

      GreySteel ok thanks for reply, I’ve read articles of them ruining shoulders but maybe that’s through bad technique which can apply to any exercise I guess plus lack of mobility as we age could be a factor ? Regards 😎👍

      I believe the grip matters most with dips- the most comfortable grip is a V grip dip bars. Good luck finding a gym with them but they are comfortable and allows the most weight to be moved
