The men who wrote this timeless standard don't get enough love. Victor Young wrote the melody, and Ned Washington wrote the words. To Margaret, Victor, and Ned.... Bravo!
This was a favorite song of a once-upon-a-time cousin of mine. First, divorce and then cancer took her away. She was lovely and when I hear this tune it brings back fond memories.
The wonderful Ms.Whiting singing one of the greatest songs ever written. There are so many excellent recordings of this song, and I would also recommend those by Carmen McRae and Billy Eckstine. Neither will disappoint.
Carol's head-on trailer brings me here...Oh my God this violin + piano version is so much better than her 1959's new version...what a classic divine love song from the great Margaret Whiting!! Just love it!!
Title song from the movie My Foolish Heart made in 1949 and starring Dana Andrews and Susan Haywood. No one sings it quite as well as Miss Whiting. I don't know about any of you, but I often remind myself "take care my foolish heart".
+tahimar rolon Oh you WON'T be disappointed, it is by far the BEST movie of 2015! And I predict that Cate Blanchett will win best actress in a leading role at the Oscars.
The night is like a lovely tune Beware my foolish heart How white the ever constant moon Take care, my foolish heart. There's a line between love and fascination That's so hard to see on an evening such as this For they give the very same sensation When you are lost in the passion of a kiss. For your lips are much too close to mine Beware my foolish heart But should our eager lips combine Then let the fire start. For this time it isn't fascination Or a dream that will fade and fall apart It's love this time, it's love, my foolish heart. There's a line between love and fascination That's so hard to see on an evening such as this For they give the very same sensation When you are lost in the passion of a kiss, oh yeah. Your lips are much too close to mine Beware my foolish heart But should our eager lips combine Then let the fire start. For this time it isn't fascination Or a dream that will fade and fall apart It's love this time, it's love, my foolish heart
Yes, thank you! It reminds me of a gentleman I met by chance at a lovely cosy pub in Cowbridge . We both became infatuated… but the lead-up to that was this song, albeit the Rod Stewart version. I do love Margaret‘s version too though.
You must remember this film starred The beautiful Susan Hayward and Dana Andrews I was just eight when I went with my mother to see it when it was first released Approx 1948 and from that age the music and film had me entranced and I never forgot it to this day,I am now 76. How wonderful it is as I have the DVD and the beautiful film and music I can see when ever I want. I do believe Billy Ecksteine sings the song to perfection. Jan Black.
The movie "My Foolish Heart" from where this music comes from will break your heart. If you have a chance to see it please do and have plenty of tissues on hand. The movie version (more haunting) was sung by Billy Eckstine was a major hit in 1950.
Quel viso sempre lì... Ah, lì il respiro assente ricorda alle sue labbra la nebbia spinta oltre il suo corpo. Nell'attesa della mia incompresa domanda d'amore.
Because the trailer for that new release which used Margaret's version of the song, has caused fans to go looking for who is singing that lovely rendition of MY FOOLISH HEART and we want them to be able to find out that it's our beloved and talented Margaret Whiting.
Poor Margaret. Every time they want to add patina to a lightweight current movie (Julie and Julia; Carol) they haul out Margaret Whiting and try to elevate the proceedings. The fact is, these films need props. But Margaret should not be used in this way. She is better, all by herself than as adjunct to Cate Blanchett or Meryl Streep.

Why cant todays singers have clear diction like singers from the past wonderful voice makes ones heart skip a beat thank you for this clip.
Indeed how I wish they left out their shouting screaming and just sing for joy.

"Carol" brings me here. The filmmakers are brilliant to use this song. What a beautiful, elegant, sexy, and fitting song to go with the movie!
what a beautiful song and so evocative of falling crazy in love
The wonderful Ms.Whiting singing one of the greatest songs ever written. There are so many excellent recordings of this song, and I would also recommend those by Carmen McRae and Billy Eckstine. Neither will disappoint.
This is achingly beautiful.
Wow you can really feel the different time and place in Margaret's songs.

The late tenor, Jerry Hadley, also had a good version of this beautiful ballad.

What a ridiculous comment! There is nothing lightweight about Cate Blanchett or Meryl Streep.
