Imho every actor/actress has that one role in their career that they were just born to play and this is it for Mila Jovovich. I don't even consider her to be an especially great actress, but oh boy, did she shine in this role. The "It will your blood, not ours." speech is just awesome.
Joan of arc is SO awesome as an Englishmen i dont mind that we lost at all in this war, She was in unique in that she was 17 year old girl with BALL OF STEEL and yeah she didn't actually fight BUT she was standered bearer which is one of the most important and dangerous jobs on the battle field as you make yourself one huge target while giving morale to the troops. and Joan continued to do it while injured. There have been many standered bearers who have won the medal of honor.
Must say that many on here actually think they are saying much but actually are saying little with any kind of knowledge.......lol...few have it all right! Joan of Arc......was something special...She was the real deal!
Go home Go now, in peace If do you not go now You will be buried in this field I've seen enough blood But if you want more I can't stop you I can only warn you That it will be your blood Not ours 🗡️

I wouldn't have like to be english when she was here! what a damned girl with balls! Love her so much , she's my hero and the only one ... God bless France
Joan was truly a saint, and a every inspirational one, and glad this film was made, by a French Director. Literally like all Besson films, truly an iconic and masterpiece of film. Milla Jovovich nailed the role as Joan of Arc, and what a saint Joan was, and what she had to endure. A true hero, who stood her ground to the best she could, had a message, and delivered it. Joan was human, and like all not perfect, but she was devoted, and had to endure injustice, but her loyality stood above all. Honestly what a film it was, such a perfect cast, soundtrack, and portrayal of the story and history of Joan of Arc.
It was a called The Hundred Years War for a reason,...I'm a soldier currently non-deployed and after 2 years of fighting you get sick of bloodshed pretty fast.
A scene that you feel with pure emotion, especially how she didnt want to harm anyone, and gave a chance to them to flee. Another legendary, and masterpiece film by French Director Benson, which I'm really glad that it was done by him, as he's French, same with Milla Jovovich nailing the role as Joan of Arc, a film that changed me, and had a major impact on me, and really made me look into things more. Like what a saint & true hero Joan was, an inspiration as well, with all that she had to endure, suffer from as well as prove. Where no matter what, never backed out, and always stood her ground to the best she could even if things would end bad for her. A saint and hero who had a message sent by God, and delivered it with her loyalty to him standing above all. Like every human, we are all not perfect, but she was devoted even during the worse times and always confessed to her sins, endured injustice, especially betrayal, but always delivered from the word of God & always remained loyal to him and with that her loyalty stood above all. What a film it was, a film that made her my inspiration, adore her, thank her for everything, and always makes me feel bad for all that she had to endure. A film that I felt through heart & emotion for her. A film with such a perfect cast, soundtrack, and portrayal of the story and history of Joan of Arc. A film that everyday, I always thank Joan, ask as well as pray to her to help me every day. A saint with such an impact, story, and inspiration.
Yes, she was a mystic. And like all mystics, they were never understood. But to condemned Joan of Arc was a different issue. It was a political issue and some personal gains. Joan was a victim of politic games played by them.
+Kenny MacDonald I like the crackpot theory that she and Gilles De Rais (the French Marshal who was later executed as a Satan worshiping child murderer) were actually part of a witches coven who were plotting to put a demon on the throne of France.
I am not a believer but I think especially in theology, the Pope asked not need your approval, unless you want it taught in your hatred of French or Catholic. Ultimately Joan of Arc led France has the victory, it was a sign of destiny.
As a teenage village girl, she was practically at the bottom of the societal order at the time. Religion aside, her accomplishments are nothing short of a real life series of miracles.
This whole war happened because a guy (the english king) wanted to increase his power by taking over the french throne, thousands of lives were lost because of the greed and caprice of one guy.
Both the English king and French Normandy King were descendents of Viking Norman oppressors who took over in 1066. Until Jean of Arc, they used the peasants of both countries as cannon-fodder.
mshara1 It's not totally true. The Hundred Years War was declared by the king Edward III of England. This king was of the Plantagenets a branch of the counts of Anjou founded in France in 930 by Fulk 1st. Plantagenets were a royal house related to the Angevin dynasty and founded by Geoffroy V of Anjou. So the Plantagenets were Angevin (Angevin is the name of the inhabitants and especially in this case the nobles of the city of Angers in France based in the county of Anjou). Well the Angevins weren't Normans neither Vikings, they were French and they acquired the throne of England through the marriage of Geoffrey V of Anjou with the Empress Matilda, the little daughter of William I and heiress of the throne of England. Their eldest son Henry II became the first Plantagenet to be crowned king of England. Though the Plantagenet kings of England were a bit related to the Normans through Mathilda's ancestries (whom weren't fully Norman but Scottish too) they quickly lost any relate to the Normans from generation to generation. The Angevins and thus the Plantagenets were a noble family in France and with their new properties in England and in the rest of France, they became much more powerful and so rivals of the Capetian kings of France. When Edward III postulated to the throne of France it was due to a messy succession and he asserted his right of blood being a king from a French lineage and the son of Isabella of France, former queen of France. Another point, there were no kings of Normandy. Normandy was a duchy, not a kingdom.
Of course their King was French origin, the english was the language of serfs : Vor bote a man conne frenss me telth of him lute / Ac lowe men holdeth to engliss and to hor owe speche jute
Cougnamama English wasn’t the language of serfs...it was the language the peasantry, the middle class, the government and the English church. French was the language of fashion. But it was Latin that was the most prized and respected language in England. The Magna Carta in fact was wrote in such a outstanding form of Latin that none of the nobles could understand it. It’s only until 1225 that it was released in French and English. Even today in posh boarding schools Latin is still taught. But English wasn’t a “serf” language...Edward III’s son John of Gaunt even sponsored Chaucer to full up the royal court with French style poetry wrote in English.
Peasnts was serfs at this time English as the French peasants of France .. French was the language of fashion lol no, the language of your kings during more 300 years, your national mottos are still fashionable today
@ManOnTheMoon2 In 1940 question of the French general to the English general " we could do a cons-attack " . Response of the English general " no we prefer a " glorious retreat " . The shame was on your army with it's " glorious retreat " . The English were crushed , the difference with the French is that the English had a natural element called the Channel . So the English fled well protected by the Channel while the French continued to fight and protected the English "glorious retreat ".
Dunkirk of course . You elude mentioning that it ain't luck t that the British troops safely retreated back to Britain alive . It wasn't due to pity from the German command . 400,000 troops were fair game to be targeted otherwise. Ten years ago i see
For me, the best battle of the 100 years war was the battle of Verneuil (1424).No gunpowder, no ranged weapon domination.Pure hand to hand carnage. Both the English and the Scottish were best at this.
PS but i like the French more. Because what the English did to us in the Anglo Boer wars between 1899 1902, was a war crime. Killed our women and children putting them in concentration camps and treats them if they where animals. Just because they cant defeated the Boers in guerrilla warfare. The British Empire guest it would be a easy victory against our Boers. They thought the Afrikaner Boer would just give up and submit to the British Crown Queen Victoria , but what happened was a 3 years long war and one of the most expensive wars the British fought against us. The battle of Amajuba and Magersfontein was some of the famous battles we comfortably won against the Empire. But at the end they have run out of ideas to defeat us in battle. The only way was to capture our women and children and put them in concentration camps where they killed over 34000 Afrikaners mostly inosent women and children just to break the back of our Men in the commandos. So never underestimate our Afrikaner folk. We have Dutch, German and French DNA in us. Viva Afrikaner Volk Viva. Die Franse die beste. Viva Frankryk.
are you fools joking? Jelous of your gastronomy? You eat Frogs, Horses, and Snails!!! You are absolutely disgusting!!! Also do remember who Saved you in WW1 and WW2. If not for we Americans, you'd all be speaking German. Also do not try to argue with me, just surrender. I'm sure you are good at that LOL
Magnetic personality.... All salutations...I bow down to the noble soul... Manifestation of "Mother Durga".. We from India will always hold her in high esteem..
""Who counseled you to take a man's dress?" To this question she several times refused to answer. "In the end, she said: "With that I charge no one." Trial of St. Jeanne d'Arc, SECOND PUBLIC EXAMINATION
@lfc011 The Norman conquest was a pivotal event in English history. It largely removed the native ruling class, replacing it with a foreign, French-speaking monarchy, aristocracy, and clerical hierarchy. This, in turn, brought about a transformation of the English language and the culture of England in a new era often referred to as Norman England.
+Lukas K is a movie. In reality the english army was annihilated at Patay Battle in 1429. They lost 2200 men (2/3 of the army), the french less than 100. Survivors fled or surrendered. The biggest defeat of an army in the Middle Ages.

+USMarineRifleman0311 there are other battles which are the result of the chaos created by this period of war, the most important is the battle of Brignais (near Lyon) in 1362, when an army of the king of France and earl of Forez was crushed by mercenaries/looters (called "Free Companies"). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_company (the picture in wiki depict this battle). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Brignais
Kiano Uy For the number of losses, Patay is the greatest defeat. In reality at Azincourt the English have killed relatively few enemies in fight, they massacred the prisoners and the wounded, including the noble ones, which was against the rules.
The Alt Knight before the 100YW, the English owned half of France not because of conquest but because their kings were French, and had, by right, title of nobility in French regions, for which they were the loyal and (more or less) obedient vassals of the King of France. And also because the French woman Eleanor of Aquitaine married Henry II of England, a French nobleman from Anjou. Otherwise, the French kings waged war to take back those lands as the Kings of England used them against the French monarchy, and the French ALWAYS won. Bouvines war, Saintonge war, war of Saintsardos, war of 1293-1304 etc
the alt knight, lionheart have lost many territory in his war against francis I ( the french king profited that the english king was in crusade to take signifiant territory, then lionheart captured by germain, huge ransom who led to banqroute, then when lionheart did cross french land he did win skirmish and siege but not to capture but to have money and then die in french land (by the way richard lived all is life in france never put foot in england or maybe some time (2 or 3 )) and his brother who didnt have land, who was weak an poor trying to do two thing ( 1 become strong so taking land and 2 have money ) so he did war against french for the first and for the secont taxed very severly the baron of england, he made two war against french the first he go alone then be defetead then second try he bring the german emperor but he was crushed (batlle of bovine) after hearing the new he flee without a fight, the the baron who suffered the heavy taxe and seeing two war lost and the last without a fight take arm and forced jean to sign the magna carta, but yes for some territory the english king was a vassal of the french one until the hundred year war and was one of the big thing who led to war and yeah at this time the plantagenet empire wasnt something to make fun off
It's a King bowing down to another King, that is wrong. The only reason why is because the Kings of England were dukes and counts of lands in France. But if you remember in the 1200s most of that land was taken. So it would be wrong to bow down to a French King if the King of England did not have lands in France !
People only tend to remember the English for defeating the French at the end of Napoleon's career, but Napoleon was a great tactician and emperor. I'm English and I'm amazed at what he achieved during his lifetime. He conquered Italy , Austria, Germany and Spain and used revolutionary new tactics to destroy modern-equipped armies from the most powerful European countries. However, in the end the English won because of their endurance of French attacks in the Peninsular.
tomkatttt Yes, the royalty spoke French, but the vast horde of peasants still spoke English, and the royalty spoke English as a second language or English entirely. Actually, as this point in the war, most of the French influence had be gone.
The ENTIRE French army numbered 8000 men. The amount taking part in the battle was 1500 (led by LaHire and Jean Poton). The English numbered 3000-5000. Instead of waiting for the rest of the army the French vanguard charged before the English could prepare defensive positions and defeated them with most of the English casualties occurring in the first minutes. For the next hour the French pursued their enemy leading to total casualties of about 100 for the French and 2500 for the English.
That's the english (tout crachés) when a Scottish is winning a sport event (they are British) but when they loose, suddenly they are Scottish. That's why the Scots hate them!
+Jeff Kodiac Germans, as a people, not a country, existed since at least 400BC ; Germanic tribes saw themselves as exactly what you wrote, Germanic tribes...Just like I wrote also : France was Gaul conquered by German Franks 486
ericmarseille2 The Germans are a Germanic ethnic group . i don't see your point of view ? You don't agree with the fact that former germany was part of the French empire ?
The DVD film, Joan of Arc - a 1999 TV mini series, has scenes freakishly similar to: NOAH, 2014, starring Russell Crowe. Actors Powers Boothe and Jacqueline Bisset play Jehanne d'Arc's father and mother (Jacques & Isabelle). In the opening scene, we see Jacques D'Arc (D'Arc Vader we'll refer to him as, Joan's dark father) attempt to snuff out the life of his brand new baby girl Joan/Jeanne/Jehanne. This is freakishly reminiscent of NOAH(Russell Crowe) attempting to do the same thing to his two granddaughters just born to son Shem, while aboard the Arc/Ark. JOKE: What did Darth Gator say to the dolphin? " 'Fluke'. You are my fodder." What did D'Arc Vader say to the Dauphin(Dolphin), Charles VII? " 'Fluke'. I am your father." [D'Arc Vader's pet name for his illegitimate son] or is it a JOKE? Was Joan of Arc the half sister to the Dolphin Charles VII? (heir apparent to the throne of France, crowned King in 1429) Jacques D'Arc would have been around 22 years old at the conception or birth of Charles VII. It is possible. Why did Charles VII mother abandon her son after King Charles VI died, and start a rumor that Charles VII was not the legitimate son of Charles VI? Charles VII was born on Feb 22, 1403 and died on July 22, 1461. July 22 is the Feast Day of Apostle Mary Magdalene. Was Joan of Arc the return of Mary Magdalene just as John the Baptist was the return of EliJAH? Both women saved France in their day. Domremy Fa So La (Pucelle) Ti (France).
***** I'm sorry, I understand english but I have difficulty to write correctly in this language, so that's why I'm answering in French, sorry!
Implisith Well can’t the English just say the French are so wimpy they hide behind girls and let them fight for the men? In fact Joan of Arc was so embarrassing for both sides, the French had no problem signing her death sentence and letting the English do it.
Brave and mighty woman. Your name shall be popular in every household( Not in Britain I guess) for generations to come. Vive la France! Vive la liberté!
Lyssor Does Napoléon ring a bell to you ? That cliché comes from the fact that we refused to go to war in America's brilliantly executed war in Irak ! They probably felt betrayed idk, but seriously guys... Napoléon built one the most important empire the world has known. And the French army is one of the best in the world (just check it up on the internet, we are very well ranked). So stop that stupid cliché it makes you sound ignorant and dumb
... What ? You weren't even at war when we capitulate. You only decide to move after Pearl Harbor. And the germans have beaten us, it's not a question of "quick capitulation". And even for that, ever heard about De Gaulles ?
The Normans considered themselves as French too .They learned French so rapidly did the old Scandinavian tongue disappear in the Norman capital that the second duke was forced to send his son to Bayeux that he might learn something of the speech of his forefathers. In the eleventh century, at the time of the Conquest, the civilization of Normandy was essentially French, and the French Normans were among the most advanced and progressive of the peoples of Europe.
in the middle age they wouldn't have done anything against us xD ! France had the best chivalry of the whole Europe and English had the best archers how do you think germany would have won ?!?
Sorry kid i'm already major ! nice try though ! ^^' Then germany didn't even exist it was a bunch of small countries without much influence groupped around the holy roman empire which already waged wars against France and lost almost each time so yeah i don't see the aim of waging wars against a country without willing to have interrests if you win such as territories or war indemnities
in the middle ages the HRE and German kingdoms were still powerhouses busying themselves with the Slavic crusades and regular visits to Rome. Up until the 16th century the French were very worried about the HRE and an emperor managing to gain central authority. That was their main drive as Catholics to back the Protestants in the Thirty Years War. France also didn't exist as a single country, that's how Brittany and Burgundy constantly turned on the French kings and a huge chunk of now France being English.
Croatian Warmaster napoleon was too old by then not to mention Forch. Plus there were more French fascists than just Burgundians and the Catholic Church that Joan had to contend with
@Inquisitor53 That's what I meant. My point was that It was not just Joan of Arc vs All English force. But men who imo loved her. They did what she said. They were fighting for her. I bet she was in the middle or behind her army and thinking of some strategy. Not the first one climbing the ladder or jumping alone into enemy teritory.
The motto dates from the time when the government of England was conducted in French. The three leopards are, I understand, taken from the Arms of the Dukes of Normandy. Three golden leopards on a red shield appear in the stained glass in the restored Royal Abbey at Fontevrault Incidentally, in the Channel Islands, Queen Elizabeth is officially referred to as "Her Majesty, the Duke of Normandy" She also "The Duke of Lancaster"
The hundred years war started when the French descendants of William the conqueror wanted to rule France as well as England, it was the French kings of England who started it all, and they invaded England first in 1066.
The death of Charles IV in 1328 marked the end of the Capetian dynasty of France. Charles IV left no surviving sons or brothers. He had one sister, Isabella, who claimed the throne of France for her son, Edward III of England. However, it had been previously agreed by the lords of France in 1316 to exclude women from the succession. Furthermore, political sentiment favored a native Frenchman for the crown rather than a foreign prince. Thus, Isabella's claim was ruled invalid and dismissed. The throne passed instead to Philip, Count of Valois, a cousin of Charles IV who would become Philip VI, the first king of the Valois dynasty. The English had not expected their claim to meet with success, and did not press the matter when it was denied. However, political tensions between England and France arose eight years later when England came into conflict with Scotland, a historical ally of the French. Philip VI pressured Edward III to make peace with the Scots, threatening the confiscation of Aquitaine if he refused. Edward III did not relent, and Philip VI declared the duchy forfeit. In response, Edward III proclaimed himself the rightful king of France, denounced Philip VI as a pretender, and declared war.
nonono... you are right. Due to the policy in england they preferred in the later areas to fight on foot. They used the Knights to back up their fine Longbow Archers and their Crossbow soldiers and merchenaries. They never were famous for great battle horses, but even though they still managed to have good knights, they rather preferred to change the tactic. It was well known that welsh Longowmen were superior in all battles. and were able to defeat Knights easy. French and German Armies still
Many documents are talking about more than 4500 Scots ! Many were famous Scottish knights....Jehan la Pucelle had a personal guard of 70 Scottish Knights .... NO French soldiers. And many Scottish soldiers were using the longbow . It is called the AULD ALLIANCE.
I haven't seen the film from which this clip comes, but the simple answer to your question is "no." This does nothing to take away from Joan's amazing accomplishments, but this clip does not portray the events accurately. MaidOfHeaven has a lot of good info. If you want to know more about her, check out the "quick facts" page, and branch out from there. Best of luck to you.
Irony, the concept of nation states with a national identity did not exist in the Middle Ages, so everyone today arguing France vs England would have been foreign to people 600 years ago.
Is that scene represented the battle of Patay?!? In fact, the English were totally routed, they lost 2500 men over 5000, the French only 100 men... Strangely, Shakespeare never wrote a play about it...
@@fabiog.franchi4251 The longbowmen? At Patay, they were crushed by the French chivalry. At the battle of Formigny, the English tried the same tactics than at Agincourt or Crécy but time has evolved and the French wiped the Welsh longbowmen with their canons. The surviving ones were slaughtered by the Norman peasants...
i find it puzzling that the commander who whittled down englands vast holdings in france ,leaving them in possession of the port of calais, should be so completely ignored
French 110 million native speakers and 190 million more second language speakers. Spanish 407 million native speakers, 60 million speakers as a second language Around 1 billion people speak Mandarin Chinese English 350 million native speakers and over 1 billion second language speakers German 120 million native speakers and 80 million second language speakers So by common sense in the UK we should be taught Spanish FIRST and Mandarin / French / German second
It has to be borne in mind that our mediaeval kings were Frenchmen with holdings in France. Separation came as a consequence of a) the loss of 'royal lands' in France, b) the 'Anglicisation' of the English monarchy - ie the use of English in place of French. 3. The consolidation of the rule of the French monarchy over the whole of France. Despite the de facto separation, the 'Coat of Arms' of every English/British king carried the fleur de lys until shortly after the French Revolution
Well, most of all the leaders of Hussites army were former warriors,Jan Žižka was veteran of Grünwald, era of Hussites was one of the final blovs(sadly)to the chivalry, the biggest blows were delth by Swiss pike militias. Then after the one or two hundred years, the armored knights utterly dissapeared. She would be just another Crusader who died in that war,so it is good that she could die as Martyr.Even the mighty Roman Emperor Sigsumnd(founder of Dragon order)spent his whole life figgting Hussites.
So true. I didn't found any other example in history. Also, kuddos for your honesty as an Englishman. ;)

The English Army knew that they were fighting a messenger of God.
She cannot be a witch. A witch will stay far away from God. A witch will associate herself with evil, Joan did not.
Yes, she was a mystic. And like all mystics, they were never understood. But to condemned Joan of Arc was a different issue. It was a political issue and some personal gains. Joan was a victim of politic games played by them.
+Kenny MacDonald
I like the crackpot theory that she and Gilles De Rais (the French Marshal who was later executed as a Satan worshiping child murderer) were actually part of a witches coven who were plotting to put a demon on the throne of France.
I am not a believer but I think especially in theology, the Pope asked not need your approval, unless you want it taught in your hatred of French or Catholic.

This whole war happened because a guy (the english king) wanted to increase his power by taking over the french throne, thousands of lives were lost because of the greed and caprice of one guy.
funny how the english royals ended up french
Lol you think thats bad... try Franz Ferdinand...And Hitler... why have we not Nuked Austria yet...
No. millions

They did pretty well to let her take the command because French won the war...
They all spoke French. Even the English King in his own court
Not anymore by the time of Henry V. He encouraged his nobles to speak English.
Time has chainged.
Now English dominates the world
French don't

In 1940 question of the French general to the English general " we could do a cons-attack " .

The Normans in 1066 were not speaking ''French'' !
In England, the population stayed Anglo-Saxon.
That's not a rout. They just walked away.

Kiano Uy For the number of losses, Patay is the greatest defeat. In reality at Azincourt the English have killed relatively few enemies in fight, they massacred the prisoners and the wounded, including the noble ones, which was against the rules.
This movie has some awesome battle-scenes.
Brits, remember Edward III was a vassal of the French crown ah ah ;)
Brits?
Le Monarchiste he also gives the royal family claim to the France.
Bouvines war, Saintonge war, war of Saintsardos, war of 1293-1304 etc
the alt knight, lionheart have lost many territory in his war against francis I ( the french king profited that the english king was in crusade to take signifiant territory, then lionheart captured by germain, huge ransom who led to banqroute, then when lionheart did cross french land he did win skirmish and siege but not to capture but to have money and then die in french land
(by the way richard lived all is life in france never put foot in england or maybe some time (2 or 3 )) and his brother who didnt have land, who was weak an poor trying to do two thing ( 1 become strong so taking land and 2 have money ) so he did war against french for the first and for the secont taxed very severly the baron of england, he made two war against french the first he go alone then be defetead then second try he bring the german emperor but he was crushed (batlle of bovine) after hearing the new he flee without a fight, the the baron who suffered the heavy taxe and seeing two war lost and the last without a fight take arm and forced jean to sign the magna carta, but yes for some territory the english king was a vassal of the french one until the hundred year war and was one of the big thing who led to war
and yeah at this time the plantagenet empire wasnt something to make fun off
It's a King bowing down to another King, that is wrong. The only reason why is because the Kings of England were dukes and counts of lands in France. But if you remember in the 1200s most of that land was taken. So it would be wrong to bow down to a French King if the King of England did not have lands in France !
Beautiful scene !

Hans Abrams Okay fair enough, but the French never spoke English.

The DVD film, Joan of Arc - a 1999 TV mini series, has scenes freakishly similar to: NOAH, 2014, starring Russell Crowe.
Actors Powers Boothe and Jacqueline Bisset play Jehanne d'Arc's father and mother (Jacques & Isabelle).
In the opening scene, we see Jacques D'Arc (D'Arc Vader we'll refer to him as, Joan's dark father) attempt to
snuff out the life of his brand new baby girl Joan/Jeanne/Jehanne. This is freakishly reminiscent of NOAH(Russell Crowe) attempting to do the same thing to his two granddaughters just born to son Shem, while aboard the Arc/Ark.
JOKE:
What did Darth Gator say to the dolphin? " 'Fluke'. You are my fodder."
What did D'Arc Vader say to the Dauphin(Dolphin), Charles VII? " 'Fluke'. I am your father."
[D'Arc Vader's pet name for his illegitimate son]
or is it a JOKE?
Was Joan of Arc the half sister to the Dolphin Charles VII? (heir apparent to the throne of France, crowned King in 1429)
Jacques D'Arc would have been around 22 years old at the conception or birth of Charles VII. It is possible.
Why did Charles VII mother abandon her son after King Charles VI died, and start a rumor that Charles VII
was not the legitimate son of Charles VI?
Charles VII was born on Feb 22, 1403 and died on July 22, 1461. July 22 is the Feast Day of Apostle Mary Magdalene.
Was Joan of Arc the return of Mary Magdalene just as John the Baptist was the return of EliJAH?
Both women saved France in their day.
Domremy Fa So La (Pucelle) Ti (France).
Mila Jovovich may be beautiful and hot, but she's probably the worst mainstream actress ever!

Divine Madness.
A 16 years virgin girl beat english army and they think, they are better than others... British are so funny :D
+Implisith She didn't even participate in the battles. Hell, she was far away. Then the French burned her.
+Varshava Kadnikov Burgundians was not French.

I'm sorry, I understand english but I have difficulty to write correctly in this language, so that's why I'm answering in French, sorry!
Vive la liberté!
holy hell, last time the frogeaters actually stood and fight.. after that they only run and capitulated...
Lyssor
In fact during 800 years the French have spend their time to kick your rosbeaf sorry asses ..
Never get where that cliche came from... I mean, did Lafayette ring a bell ?
Lyssor Does Napoléon ring a bell to you ? That cliché comes from the fact that we refused to go to war in America's brilliantly executed war in Irak ! They probably felt betrayed idk, but seriously guys... Napoléon built one the most important empire the world has known. And the French army is one of the best in the world (just check it up on the internet, we are very well ranked). So stop that stupid cliché it makes you sound ignorant and dumb
Charlotte Joly no, it comes from the fact you frogeater fuckers betrayed us in 1938 and then quickly capitulted before Hitler
They should have tried this with Germans lol.
in the middle age they wouldn't have done anything against us xD !
France had the best chivalry of the whole Europe and English had the best archers how do you think germany would have won ?!?
Sorry kid i'm already major ! nice try though ! ^^'
Then germany didn't even exist it was a bunch of small countries without much influence groupped around the holy roman empire which already waged wars against France and lost almost each time so yeah i don't see the aim of waging wars against a country without willing to have interrests if you win such as territories or war indemnities
in the middle ages the HRE and German kingdoms were still powerhouses busying themselves with the Slavic crusades and regular visits to Rome. Up until the 16th century the French were very worried about the HRE and an emperor managing to gain central authority. That was their main drive as Catholics to back the Protestants in the Thirty Years War.
France also didn't exist as a single country, that's how Brittany and Burgundy constantly turned on the French kings and a huge chunk of now France being English.
mangalores-x_x Exactly right.
Had the German people ever united around that time, it would've made the Tuetons look like little babies.
Croatian Warmaster napoleon was too old by then not to mention Forch. Plus there were more French fascists than just Burgundians and the Catholic Church that Joan had to contend with
@Inquisitor53
That's what I meant. My point was that It was not just Joan of Arc vs All English force. But men who imo loved her. They did what she said. They were fighting for her. I bet she was in the middle or behind her army and thinking of some strategy. Not the first one climbing the ladder or jumping alone into enemy teritory.
great but only gets a couple of my elements electrified
Doin' a project, doin' a project. Ooh! Video time! Jeanne d'Arc! :D
The Hundred Years War - The Last Battle - THE BATTLE OF CASTILLON - 17th of July 1453
Only the French would leave it to a 17 year old girl to save them.
The motto dates from the time when the government of England was conducted in French.
The three leopards are, I understand, taken from the Arms of the Dukes of Normandy.
Three golden leopards on a red shield appear in the stained glass in the restored Royal Abbey at Fontevrault
Incidentally, in the Channel Islands, Queen Elizabeth is officially referred to as "Her Majesty, the Duke of Normandy"
She also "The Duke of Lancaster"
The hundred years war started when the French descendants of William the conqueror wanted to rule France as well as England, it was the French kings of England who started it all, and they invaded England first in 1066.
King Edward III of England was the grandson of King Philip IV of France, and so he thought he had strong claim to France.
*English kings of England that started it.
@@fomalhauto And despite being badly outnumbered, Edward III decisively defeated the French at the Battle of Crécy.
nonono... you are right. French and German Armies still
France and Persia are magnificent
I remembered I first learned about Joan of Arc from Age of Empires II...
Joan was not blonde and didn't have short hair.
Whatever floats your Arc.
Right you are! They also wanted the common man to be able to partake of the full sacrament (wine, not for boozing) as taught by the martyr Jan Hus.
@666Vredesbyrd
there were Scottish troops with the French? how many?
2:42 it seems that La Hire's sword will be dry today.
The guy in the back:
"....WHAT?"
Man her voice breaks alot
Is that scene represented the battle of Patay?!?
In fact, the English were totally routed, they lost 2500 men over 5000, the French only 100 men... Strangely, Shakespeare never wrote a play about it...
butbutbut the longbowmen.....
@@fabiog.franchi4251 The longbowmen? At Patay, they were crushed by the French chivalry. At the battle of Formigny, the English tried the same tactics than at Agincourt or Crécy but time has evolved and the French wiped the Welsh longbowmen with their canons. The surviving ones were slaughtered by the Norman peasants...
i find it puzzling that the commander who whittled down englands vast holdings in france ,leaving them in possession of the port of calais, should be so completely ignored
that was the second phase of the war, this is more than 30 years later.
French 110 million native speakers and 190 million more second language speakers.
Spanish 407 million native speakers, 60 million speakers as a second language
Around 1 billion people speak Mandarin Chinese
English 350 million native speakers and over 1 billion second language speakers
German 120 million native speakers and 80 million second language speakers
So by common sense in the UK we should be taught Spanish FIRST and Mandarin / French / German second
Well,most of all
the leaders of Hussites army were former warriors,Jan Žižka was veteran of Grünwald, era of Hussites was one of the final blovs(sadly)to the chivalry, the biggest blows were delth by Swiss pike militias.
